Chapter 37: Sharing a Cloak
After she spoke, her face looked even redder.
Her meaning couldn’t have been clearer.
Next, she and Axi were going to stay under this cloak together.
That surely meant a rather intimate position.
Airael had already accepted the objective fact that she was now a blossoming young lady.
Although she had shamelessly and strategically used her thick skin to stay close to Axi, she had no intention of selling herself out.
She wasn’t just a young girl anymore; she was a cherished maiden.
Her purity couldn’t be carelessly discarded.
Yet now, it seemed there was no better option than this.
So Airael could only comfort herself in her heart that she and Axi were just going to be physically close, and it was a move made out of necessity.
Even though she had convinced herself to accept the “cruel” reality, Airael couldn’t help but feel shy like an ordinary girl.
Hearing this, Axi nodded and then looked at Airael, asking, “So, does Ailia have any more cloaks like this?”
“None! Just the one I’m wearing!”
Airael barely managed to hold back her instinct to raise her voice in reply.
Her face was already flushed red from excessive shyness.
Now Axi finally understood.
He looked at Airael’s bright red face, and his own cheeks couldn’t help but start to redden as well.
Clearly, he was also thinking about what would happen next.
They were both going to share a cloak—or rather, one piece of clothing.
And their relationship certainly wasn’t close enough to share clothes.
Let alone the fact that this sharing wasn’t just taking turns, but rather, wearing it together at the same time.
That was definitely something only the closest of companions could do.
Like, for instance, a married couple.
After a moment, Axi asked, “Is there really no other way?”
Seeing Axi’s reluctance, Airael couldn’t help but feel a bit angry.
Here she was, completely putting herself on the line, and this big man was still being reserved.
“You say you’re a virgin? Well, I’m still a virgin too!”
In retort, Airael snapped back, “Do you have any other options?”
Axi fell silent for a moment.
It wasn’t that the Riding Wolves had invincible noses.
It’s just that given the current situation, he truly felt powerless.
In this wilderness, without the protection of the Magic Cloak, Axi’s scent was an open book for the Riding Wolves.
The moment one of the Riding Wolves steadied itself, it could sniff out his scent.
In their next plan, if he revealed himself, their whole plan would be in ruins.
While Airael’s magic was impressive, her abilities alone were ultimately limited.
Moreover, the enemies they were about to face were far from the usual.
Whether it was two giants or those Orc pursuers, sending Airael alone to deal with them was equivalent to signing her death warrant.
“Since there’s no other way, let’s just hurry up and do what I said earlier.”
At this point, Airael had completely thrown caution to the wind.
They needed to get through this critical moment first.
If she lost her life, her purity wouldn’t matter anyway.
And whether it was dying at the hands of two giants or at the claws of Orc pursuers, her body wouldn’t be left behind—it would become their meal.
Seeing Airael, who was all in, Axi gritted his teeth and decided to follow suit.
But immediately, he got stuck, “So what do we do next?”
Facing Axi’s question, Airael took off her cloak and handed it to him, saying, “Put it on.”
“Okay!”
With a dazed nod, Axi accepted the cloak that Airael passed to him.
Before, he had only seen Airael’s face; now that he was looking at her full appearance beneath the cloak, he was completely stunned.
Axi’s physique wasn’t necessarily remarkable, but it was quite well-coordinated overall, bordering on perfection.
Adding Airael’s exquisite face into the mix, calling her a stunning beauty might even be an understatement.
Once such a person walked among the masses, it would definitely be catastrophic.
Even Axi, who usually had confidence in his composure, was taken aback not once but twice.
“Hey, what are you staring at? Put on the cloak! Do you need my help to put it on?”
Seeing Axi lost in thought, Airael urged him, her tone impatient but her heart secretly delighted.
Looking at Axi’s current state, her charm was evidently impressive.
I’m absolutely the most beautiful person in the world, with no competition. Whoever marries me will have hit the jackpot!
Enjoying her thoughts, Airael initially didn’t notice something was off until she snapped back to reality.
Ugh, ugh, ugh! She didn’t want to get married!
She had accepted the objective fact of being a woman, but she kept a respectful distance from the idea of marriage.
The previous agreement with the Human Race was entirely because she had been duped.
While Airael was lost in thought, Axi silently put the cloak on himself.
Then, feeling quite awkward, he looked at Airael and asked, “I’ve got it on. What do we do next?”
Although the cloak was unisex, wearing one that had been worn by Airael before made Axi acutely aware of her feminine scent.
Airael snapped back to focus, assessing Axi who had covered himself.
The once oversized cloak on Airael now looked just right on tall Axi.
But these little details didn’t matter; as long as the cloak covered Axi, it would muffle his scent and prevent it from reaching the Riding Wolves.
Then, she’d have to conceal herself too.
Even though her scent hadn’t been memorized by the Riding Wolves, once her presence was detected nearby, it would alert the Orcs to the existence of another creature waiting to ambush them.
So, she too needed to hide.
“You stay still for a moment.”
Airael said, stepping closer to Axi.
As Axi stared at Airael, who was now breathing so close, his heart began to race like crazy.
In contrast, Airael was completely indifferent, turning around to face away from Axi.
