Chapter 352. The King of the Center~ (2)
Of course, despite thorough planning and control…
With 10,000 patrol ships…
And millions of aircraft providing cover and air support…
-“The engine’s on fire!”
-“Kyaaaaaaah!”
-“Mayday, mayday, mayday!”
-“Oh, mother.”
Despite the enemy’s interceptors and ships charging in like mad…
And despite our deployed forces scattering them, the insane anti-air capabilities still poured down like crazy.
Our assault pods, having left the cozy interior prep area, turned into fireworks within seconds of leaving the ship.
The problem was that the number of pods exploding was way higher than expected.
“Commander, I have something to report.”
“…”
“It’s been less than a minute since the assault pods launched, and already 5% are gone.”
“Ughhhhh.”
As Jessica reported, seeing 5% wiped out in just a minute…
My brain started sprouting thoughts like, “No way, are we getting screwed over again?”
But as I had assessed myself, this operation would’ve been fine if it weren’t for the “screwing over.”
Turns out, the 5% of assault pods were destroyed because they launched too fast, got ahead of the patrol ships and aircraft cover, and were exposed to enemy fire.
The rest, however, smoothly and effortlessly landed inside the enemy base as planned, flying through the defensive formation toward the outer wall breaches.
And as the assault pods slammed in, the base command screen started showing real-time footage from the perspectives of the superhumans deployed in this battle.
-“Attack! Attack!”
-“They’re assaulting us, defensive forces, engage immediately!”
-“Emergency alert across the base, defensive units gather at A-1 zone!”
The problem was that these voices overlapped from multiple screens…
-“Emergencyemergencyemergency!”
“Ughhhh.”
I experienced firsthand what it feels like to have your eardrums terrorized.
But it was only for a moment.
“Ah, hold on, activate the sound overlap removal algorithm.”
“Understood, Vice Commander Jessica.”
At Jessica’s command, the command center operators fiddled with the computers, and instantly, the overlapping warning broadcasts unified into one voice.
I rubbed my tingling ears, gave Jessica a thumbs-up, and refocused on the screen.
But in the brief moment I was groaning, our superhumans, living up to their name, were already wreaking havoc inside the base.
==========
Especially Ignis, Partia, and Smeragi, who were leading in physical abilities…
-Swish! Swish! Swish!
-“What, what’s moving around?!”
-“Kyaaaah!”
-“Shoot them!”
“…Is this how a yakuza feels watching a dragon ball fight between saiyans?”
The enemy troops on the screen moved so fast they looked like TV static.
With my weak, ordinary eyes, I couldn’t even begin to follow what was happening.
“Too fast, man.”
==========
At least with Marian, Belial, and Lephan, the “command-type” superhumans…
Unlike the three mentioned earlier, they moved “relatively” less, so I could still make them out.
But even that was only “relatively” compared to the others.
-“Huh, how is the Pirate Empress here?!”
-“Hello.”
-Slice!
-“Kyaaaah!”
-“Everyone, advance! I’ll handle this area.”
-“Belial is about to start a doll festival, we’ll head straight to the next zone as ordered!”
“Whoa.”
-“Let’s go!”
-Ratatatatatatatatatat!!!
-“Our leader, is it real that your chest shakes every time you fire the machine gun?”
-“That’s the charm of our mercenary group.”
-“Even when you’re dodging in mid-air, your chest shakes.”
-“Aren’t you wearing a bra?”
-“Where would you find a bra that fits that? She’s the type to casually take it off when it gets annoying.”
-“True.”
These three, being SSS-Class superhumans, also showed inhuman moves, making me feel dizzy just watching.
I was holding it.
Thanks to that, instead of seeing how they fight, it was mostly listening to the communications of the other troops around.
Or, like just hearing Lephan’s communication network, it was mostly listening to the evaluations(?) of his direct subordinates.
==========
Meanwhile, among the other superhumans excluding those five, in the case of Oxianor.
-*Kwaddeudeuk!*
-“A m-monster! It’s a monster superhuman!”
-“Regular bullets won’t work, use special ammunition!”
-“The base is being corroded, save us!”
After changing his usual suit into bio-armor, he was thoroughly using the monster’s unique omnidirectional corrosion ability.
He himself just waved his limbs a few times in a dignified manner, while the rest was handled by the infected troops who were corroded.
The cases where he ‘directly’ stepped in were surprisingly rare.
Or rather, they *were* rare.
By the way, the reason I’m saying this in the past tense is because, while Oxianor was engaging in his monster superhuman-style combat by corroding everything around him.
Whether it was a mistake or not, he ended up corroding and absorbing even the body cam attached to himself, so there was no way to know how things were progressing anymore.
==========
And in the case of Gryanarr, our mad scientist who was increasingly turning into a Doraemon-like figure.
He was showing a combat style that seemed somewhat similar to Oxianor’s, but with subtle differences.
-“Kyahahahahahaha!”
-“W-what the hell is that!”
-“Aaaaah, it’s a monster!!!”
He was reusing the ‘giant chimera monster’ he had employed at least a year ago.
-“Professor, what are you trying to do now?”
-“What else? Merge!”
-“Merge!”
-“Now!”
After transporting the ‘giant chimera monster’ through a special container, he merged it with the pet tentacles he usually carried around.
-“I’m becoming the monster myself!”
-“Oh Jesus.”
-“Huff, huuuuuff!”
-“Nooooooooooo!”
Having recycled what was discarded last time, he transformed into the ‘Bio-Cyber Mobile Fortress T-Rex’ and was devastating the vast corridors and various defense bases inside Tanhoizer.
Although the process of merging with the ‘Bio-(omitted)-T-Rex’ was, in many ways, beyond just being highly explicit…
“Commander, if that thing pops out in PVP with other commanders, it’s going to cause a lot of problems.”
“I think so too, Jessica.”
It was at the level of showing something that reached the pinnacle of bizarre desires, to the point where even the enemy troops stopped fighting and just stared blankly.
I thought that once this battle was over, if Gryanarr didn’t fix that grotesque merging method of the Bio-(omitted)-T-Rex, I would have to dispose of it mercilessly, just like the time he created that monstrosity called the ‘4-Faction Technology Fusion Mobile Fortress.’
==========
And finally, in the case of our Pashtira.
-“The enemies have lowered the bulkhead, so we can’t advance at all.”
-“Oh my♡”
-“Bring the rockets and missiles!”
-“Hey, I stuck 5 sticky bombs on this, but there’s not a single scratch?”
-“Everyone, step aside? At this scale… yep, this should do it♡”
-*Beeeeeeeeeeem*
‘What’s with that sound effect.’
Despite the sound effect that somehow sounded very subtle and ‘weak,’
-“Whoooosh!”
-“Hmm, there were multi-angled tanks behind the bulkhead♡ Well, they’re gone now♡”
The moment Pashtira pointed forward with her finger.
The 9.5m-thick reinforced alloy bulkhead, along with the heavily armored multi-angled tanks waiting behind it, and the defense turrets and troops further back, were all melted by a 10m-diameter particle beam.
Since she barely moved directly, the camera angle didn’t shake, making it a truly serene scene compared to the others.
