Chapter 348: The Candy World
Three poison dart frogs led the way. The young lady slowly turned several corners and arrived at a large puddle. A few other animals were drinking water here as well: a deer and two squirrels. On the trees beside the puddle, there was another poison dart frog, its body a vivid lemon yellow. It rose and fell as if sleeping. What was odd was that it wore a small, exquisite golden crown on its head.
Gua wa~
The three little poison dart frogs jumped over to the lemon yellow one and woke it up. This one was slightly larger, about the size of Lolan Hill’s palm. After hearing something, it jumped down from the tree and came in front of the young lady, looking at her with round eyes.
Lolan Hill also curiously looked at this special poison dart frog. Was that small and exquisite crown on its head put there by humans?
Demon Sequence 5·Golden Poison Dart Frog (Evaluation: Perfect Golden Grade), quite rare, the young lady thought.
Wild Supranormal Demonic Beasts generally only ranged between Ordinary and Exquisite grades, with rare ones being fewer, and perfect ones even rarer. Prefix evaluations often represented how outstanding an individual was among peers. A battle between a Perfect Golden Grade and an Ordinary Crystal Grade did not necessarily mean the Crystal Grade would win; it could also be because the Perfect Golden Grade had better talent or was smarter. In battles between Supranormal creatures, the one with the higher Sequence did not always win; it depended on their specific evaluations.
This poison dart frog was clearly much smarter. It squatted in front of Lolan Hill and emitted a friendly croak, seemingly acknowledging this young lady as an equal. So, Lolan Hill asked again about the Red Branch Poisonwood.
After listening, it puffed up its belly and let out a proud croak, as if saying this was a minor issue. Then, it hopped over to the puddle, croaking a few times. The nearby small animals ran away upon hearing it, and the tiny crown on its head emitted a faint glow.
What’s this? Lolan Hill blinked in confusion. Then she saw the golden poison dart frog leap into the puddle and disappear. This disappearance was real; the water in the puddle wasn’t deep, and Lolan Hill could see the bottom directly. But after jumping in, this poison dart frog truly vanished, even in her unique perception.
While she was thinking, the other poison dart frogs also jumped in and disappeared.
Could this puddle have some special properties?
Lolan Hill couldn’t help but wonder, hesitating slightly before lightly jumping and diving into the puddle, which was only as deep as her palm.
Then she felt everything go dark, and she vanished with a splash in the shallow water.
It was like the world was spinning. Soon after, light appeared again before her eyes, and she stumbled, stepping into a shallow pool. The cold water soaked her socks and flowed into her shoes, while the world in front of her completely changed.
This was a colorful and bright world, with an incredibly blue sky and clouds in the air resembling cotton candy—no, they were actually cotton candy!
Lolan Hill stood in this world, looking at the colorful path beside the puddle. The ground was made of various colored candies pieced together. Red sugar soil on the sides grew strange candy trees, whose crowns formed circular shapes with red and white swirling patterns, similar to lollipops. Various sizes and colors of lollipops grew along the roadside, and occasionally, green, pink, white, and yellow translucent stones could be seen, which seemed to be a kind of hard candy.
She directed her gaze toward the distance. At the end of the path, atop a small hill, stood a house made of candy. The walls were made of white nougat mixed with a few peanuts. The eaves and tiles were made of alternating pink and white soft candy. The windows were semi-transparent mint candy, and the door was made of chocolate, decorated with jelly-like gummy bears.
This world wasn’t very large. In the young lady’s perception, it was only about two miles in diameter, but everything seemed to be made of candy. It could be called a candy world.
The few colorful poison dart frogs that entered earlier were also by the puddle. The three smaller ones were eating the sand, while the larger golden poison dart frog held a candy cane with red and white spiral patterns, adorned with a tiny bow. Such candies grew under large lollipops, like bushes.
Upon arriving here, these poison dart frogs busied themselves eating, paying less attention to Lolan Hill. It seemed they were using their actions to tell her that everything was edible and delicious.
With curiosity, Lolan Hill slowly walked to the water’s edge, first taking off her already wet shoes to clean them. However, the water in the pool seemed especially clear and emitted a fruity aroma.
Sigh, if only there were clear water. Washing feet with fruit juice felt odd, the young lady thought. Despite the coolness and comfort on her feet, she lifted her smooth foot, summoning a gentle breeze to dry it instantly.
After drying her feet, she originally wanted to fly to the candy house for a look, but it seemed there was some restriction in this world preventing direct flight. She had no choice but to walk barefoot on the candy path, feeling the uneven yet delicate texture underfoot.
Smelling the various candy scents in the air, Lolan Hill walked on the path, her gaze turning to the surroundings. Besides the few poison dart frogs, there was no sign of life here. The environment was bright and quiet, with occasional sounds of wind blowing and candy trees gently colliding.
She slowly approached the candy house, resembling a cake, and gently knocked on the door. But the chocolate door wasn’t locked and opened slightly when touched. She tried calling out a few times.
“Hello, is anyone here?”
The house was eerily silent. The young lady cautiously stepped inside. The interior had a very girly decor style, mainly in pink and white. The sofa was a giant cotton candy, and the table was like a mushroom-shaped amber pudding, cool, transparent, and elastic. The teapot and cups on the table resembled toffee, filled not with clear water but rich chocolate cream.
The floor was made of dark and light squares. Lolan Hill walked barefoot, feeling as though she was walking on mousse cake—soft yet dry and not sticky.
Holding onto a row of candy canes by the stairs, she slowly ascended to the second floor, where there was a loft. In the center of the room was a large, exquisite bed, with four corners made of small spiral candy domes. The quilt was made of white, soft cotton candy. Beside the round, cute window was a square table, seemingly made of chocolate, with drawers like wafers. On the table lay a locked diary, the only non-edible thing Lolan Hill had encountered in this strange world.
She approached the table and carefully picked up the diary. The pink cover had a red heart-shaped gemstone above it, inscribed with ‘Gladyce’s Secret Diary,’ with a small note below: ‘No peeking!’. The language style seemed extremely ancient and early universal.
Should she read it? Just as Lolan Hill was feeling guilty, a note underneath the diary revealed itself.
“If you are also a witch, loudly recite the spell. Then, this young miss will specially allow you to take a look.”
Lolan Hill looked down at the spell, suddenly feeling a mix of middle-school and shyness.
