Chapter 343: Fratricidal Strife Within the Room
Feeling somewhat ashamed, as she spoke these words, Lolan Hill seemed to return to the days of old, those impractical yet dazzling fantasies.
“Indeed, but there’s another question. Please describe the three ways of casting the ‘Jade Flow术’ and their respective characteristics.” This knight seemed to be a student of the Nature Sequence, asking with great proficiency.
“This…” The knight’s question was indeed about a spell that third-year students would learn, but it was taught later in the curriculum and was considered supplementary content. Usually, third-year students wouldn’t make a point of memorizing this.
Although she knew the answer, Lolan Hill hesitated whether to respond. However, the current situation did not allow her to ponder for too long; hesitation could lead to trouble.
“The Jade Flow术 is a spell used to enhance troops. Although it has limited effects on Extraordinary Beings, due to its wide range and long duration, it remains one of the essential spells for traveling Wind Singers. It has three primary methods of use. First, it can be cast by assisting with incantations to condense moon dew, which produces the best results but consumes a lot of time and precious moon dew.”
“Secondly, Wind Singers in the military can combine their efforts to form a special wind-guiding formation in multiples of five, allowing them to cast it simultaneously. This method covers a wide area but requires a large number of participants.”
“Lastly, silent inscription casting involves soldiers equipped with armor inscribed with the Flow术. When casting, they only need to replenish their magic power. Though costly, even without Wind Singers present, other Extraordinary Beings accompanying the troops can provide the necessary magic power.”
The Young Lady answered slowly at first, but as she continued, her responses became smoother. After finishing, she pushed up her glasses, imitating the Head Maid, causing a glint in the flickering lights of the night.
“Very well.” The knight’s voice carried a tone of relief and joy, then he stepped aside, allowing Lolan Hill to continue forward.
Just as Lolan Hill sighed in relief and prepared to move on, the knight’s voice came again from behind.
“I am a fourth-year student of the Nature Sequence, Leisen. If you have any questions in the future, feel free to come to me.”
A fourth-year student already at Sequence 6? This senior is truly a rare genius. The Young Lady nodded, without turning back, and walked into the church.
Orange-yellow flames burned in candles, each placed on copper stands and set along both sides of the hall, illuminating its interior brightly. Some black-clothed
Members came and went, some heading deeper into the church to the议事厅 (deliberation hall), others going to the rooms on the first and second floors on either side, and still others turning into the adjacent passages leading underground.
Lolan Hill swept her perception over the hall, vaguely discerning a large number of black-robed members gathering in the议事厅 (deliberation hall). There, Aosuna was instructing subordinates to carry out various tasks, likely aiming to recruit more people into the society.
Unsure of Aosuna’s current situation, Lolan Hill temporarily refrained from confronting her directly and turned to walk into the adjacent passage, which led underground where a new batch of member induction ceremony was taking place.
After passing through the heavily guarded gate, the interior was much more relaxed. The entrance to the basement was guarded by only two Sequence 5 students, and Lolan Hill easily walked in with the others.
Through the corridor lined with torches, the chanting of prayer words grew louder.
“We are the children left on the Earth, descendants of the great ones of the past. From now on, we will once again reclaim our former glory.”
The young lady finally stopped at the outer door of the underground venue, ‘watching’ the fervent scene inside. Nearly a hundred students stood below the stage, listening to the explanation of a senior member, while black-uniformed guards stood beside them.
This can’t continue any longer. She silently thought, removed her glasses, put them in a ring, and gently pushed open the door.
Time seemed to stop. The crowd inside slowly turned their gazes toward her. A teenage girl with crimson eyes appeared before their eyes. Then, everything seemed to slow down as she sprinted at lightning speed towards the center of the venue, her light-colored shoes pushing off the ground as she leaped onto the high platform. The black-clad guards drew their swords from their waists.
Silver-white sword blades reflected the candlelight, casting cold glints. Before the sound of the swords being drawn could spread, she moved like flowing light, dodging them and taking the gray reagent from the host’s hand.
When she turned her body, the sounds inside the venue erupted.
Black-clad guards swung their long swords, crossing them to block the exit doors, then closing in on her. Although they were students, they were undoubtedly warriors, skilled and well-coordinated.
Lolan Hill immediately found herself in a fierce battle. Her crimson magic sword had not yet condensed when five long swords stabbed, slashed, and chopped at her from various angles. The magical light on the blades emitted a dangerous signal, making her wary of touching them. Her perception of the surroundings…
Her mind raced at high speed.
She turned her body, narrowly avoiding the longsword that whizzed past her. However, her robe was not as fortunate and was sliced open with several long gashes.
To prevent being hindered by her outer cloak, Lolan Hill discarded the black robe during her evasive movements, revealing her dyed chestnut hair and crimson eyes.
Clang—
Finally, a red magic sword materialized in her hand, blocking an attack from a Sequence 6 student. Then another one appeared, forming a crescent moon shape, pushing back weaker Sequence 5 students.
But the opponent did not stop there. The chanting of spells began from behind, and stone walls started to seal off the entrance.
Seventeen black-clothed guards surrounded the young lady, while nearly a hundred new club members watched from the side.
“Drop the reagent in your hand, and we won’t delve too deeply into your actions,” a short-haired girl emerged from the rear. She had removed her hood, and her black robe hung like a cape, revealing her slender figure.
“Jenna?”
Seeing those familiar emerald-green eyes and face, Lolan Hill exclaimed in surprise.
“Who are you? I don’t know you. Don’t try to confuse us with such low-level tricks,” Jenna frowned, clearly not recognizing this appearance of Lolan Hill. She drew her long knife from her waist.
The blade was intricately engraved with patterns resembling snowflakes, extremely delicate, and the edge was so thin it gave a chilling sensation. This was a pearl-grade extraordinary artifact. Currently, although Jenna was only a Sequence 5, she seemed to be the leader among these guards. Her cold, pretty face looked at the unexpected intruder, warning Lolan Hill not to attempt any tricks.
“Snowflake Formation, Triad Counterpoint!”
Before Lolan Hill could even explain herself, this former acquaintance began commanding the black-clothed guards to attack. They moved in groups of three, alternating their attacks, constantly changing positions, like drawing a hexagram on the ground. The continuous sword strikes left Lolan struggling to cope, soon leaving wounds and bloodstains on her arms and wrists.
In the dim underground arena, the swords clashed, producing clear sounds and tiny sparks. Lolan Hill’s face was smeared with dust, blood, and sweat as she fully defended against four Sequence 6 and twelve Sequence 5 black-robed students.
The scene of fellow comrades turning against each other finally unfolded within Emanas.
