Chapter 340: Under the Starry Sky
After agreeing to Lady Phyllis’ request, it was already quite late. Lolan Hill bid farewell and flew back to her small house.
She could sense through her pocket watch that Chris was still sleeping in the dormitory. Returning a bit later wouldn’t be an issue, so she decided to first sort out the recent series of events.
The stuffed bear on the table had finished its studies when Lolan returned and was now quietly sitting on a chair. Upon Lolan’s return, it put away the book. It wasn’t afraid of being seen by the girl; in fact, Lolan sometimes even guided it.
It was rare for this silver-haired girl to return here. If she continued to compete with the owner for the table, wouldn’t that be a bit too much? As a younger brother, one should give way to the elder. After all, I am already a mature demonic beast, and I should know how to yield.
Lohil leaned against the table, resting her head on her arms, looking askance at the white paper on the table. Her slender fingers held a long pencil, drawing idly on the paper.
She didn’t know where to start recounting the recent events. She closed her eyes, relaxed slightly, and then formally wrote down a few names on the paper.
They were [Night Mistress, Chris], [Ausuna], [Chaos Phantom]. Each name was surrounded by a circle.
Recalling what she had seen that day, she drew a line connecting [Ausuna] and [Chaos Phantom].
Currently, the anomalies in the school could basically be attributed to these two.
However, unlike the records and history, this witch Ausuna wasn’t as strong, and Chaos Phantom wasn’t as powerful either. Instead, they had become more moderate, like savage beasts that had lost their irrationality and were no longer as simple and brutal.
Whether Ausuna was truly a witch, Lolan wasn’t sure. But it was certain that this girl had undergone significant changes recently. Was it her own initiative or influenced by other factors?
If she had changed herself, how did she connect with Chaos Phantom and tame it? And how did she manage to deceive so many people in the school?
Even if she was a witch, her sequence level was only 5, which was far from enough to fully utilize a witch’s powers and influence such high-sequence powerhouses. It was also hard to explain why she suddenly became so knowledgeable.
After sorting out these thoughts, Lolan marked an ‘X’ behind ‘initiative’ and drew a square grid below it, writing ‘unknown’.
Then, Lolan drew lines connecting [Ausuna], [Chaos Phantom], and this ‘unknown’ box, representing everything affected by it. It not only changed Ausuna and Chaos Phantom but also covered them in a hazy veil, making it difficult for outsiders to notice any abnormalities.
This ‘unknown’ made Lohil think of some special powers, perhaps related to witches and the missing [Night Mistress, Chris].
So she drew another line, connecting [Night Mistress, Chris] with this ‘unknown’.
Without this ‘unknown’, Ausuna would just be a regular prodigy, and Chaos Phantom would be easily discovered and eliminated. Night Mistress and Chris would not have disappeared.
Combining her own experience when she first came to the school, Lolan thought about how it might work after writing down ‘concealment, hiding, distortion, blurring, illusion, deception’ under ‘unknown’.
Although she couldn’t clearly define what kind of power this was, the general direction seemed right. It didn’t have the ability to rewrite memories, otherwise, it wouldn’t be so complicated.
That incident with the strange fish attack and fainting during the winter festival should be related to this.
After organizing her thoughts, Lolan put down her pen and looked out the window. The cold moonlight illuminated the courtyard, casting a pale blue glow on the vines on the walls and the flowers in the courtyard. The sky twinkled with sparse stars.
Although she didn’t know the true purpose of this ‘unknown’, she was certain it was likely malicious. Just the students and the distorted, strange feeling akin to Chaos Phantom made Lolan extremely uncomfortable.
She found it hard to imagine what the future of these students might look like. The worst outcome might be the entire school being corrupted, leading to another chaos disaster.
To ignore it or avoid it? The opponent might be a Sequence 9 witch.
Even though she sensed the danger, Lolan couldn’t just give up and escape while the opponent wasn’t paying attention to her.
Though she wasn’t a saint, avoiding it would probably make her look down on herself. Looking back in the future, she would feel terrible.
But her current strength wasn’t great, and miracles weren’t always available. Moreover, the opponent might be a Sequence 9 witch with her own powers.
How could she defeat such a powerful, hidden enemy alone?
It was truly difficult.
She put down her pen, stood up, opened the door of the small house, and walked into the courtyard. The lush grass brushed gently against her ankles, giving a slight tickling sensation.
The girl walked past the quiet blooming flowers, looking up at the night sky in April. Though the number of stars wasn’t as vast as in midsummer, there were still many.
When the crisis came, she might have to use the hairpin left by Cynara to activate the talent of starlight and miracles again.
The girl raised her snow-white wrist, extending her slender fingers towards the sky. Her silver hair slowly danced under the moonlight.
Thus, the stars in the sky above Emenas became exceptionally bright. The starlight gradually dissipated the flowing clouds, revealing a clear, beautiful night sky. Tiny stars that were usually unseen began to appear in the sky.
Despite it being early April, the night sky resembled midsummer, filled with a vast river of stars, magnificent and grand.
Facing such a beautiful scene, unfortunately, it was already deep into the night, and few people would see it.

At the outskirts of Temple Academy, two figures stood under the starry sky, looking up.
“How beautiful,” remarked one tall woman.
“It is indeed rare,” responded her companion, wearing a slightly tight robe that accentuated her voluptuous figure.
This voluptuous woman had lavender purple hair with a side-swept fringe covering one eye, leaving only the other black eye visible. She turned to her companion and said,
“Thank you, Ingrid. It’s late, yet you still came to help me.”
“Why are you being so formal, Cisena? You weren’t like this when we were kids,” Ingrid said, swinging her sword to shake off the dirt and then putting it back in its scabbard. She was dressed differently from usual, wearing sturdy knight armor with dark silver markings, neither plain nor overly ornate, appearing quite ancient.
“In fact, I agreed to come to the cemetery with you at midnight because there’s something I need your help with,” Ingrid continued.
“What is it? Even you, a special student from the Holy Land, can’t solve it?” Cisena waved her wand, and a fireball the size of a pumpkin appeared beside them, illuminating the surroundings.
“Do you know there’s a second-year student named Lohil in our academy?”
