Chapter 34: The Demon Mork
Looking at the purple-black object floating in the air, Airael frowned.
This outcome was truly unexpected.
The attack she had unleashed just now should have been enough to obliterate Mork, yet here he was, like this.
“What the heck is that thing?”
Unlike her, the others didn’t quite understand the power Mork was demonstrating.
As they gazed at the purple-black object, a flicker of fear crept onto some faces.
That thing had survived such a level of attack! If it could withstand that, how on earth could they defeat it?
Not just the soldiers, but even Arthur and Cain were at a loss for what to do next.
If that purple-black mass was indeed Mork, then his power was beyond their wildest imaginations.
Outside the fortress, Komit and the others were also drawn to the situation.
From afar, he couldn’t see very clearly.
But he had clearly witnessed the commotion caused by the battle.
Looks like things aren’t going very smoothly!
Komit thought to himself.
Then he shifted his gaze to other battlefields.
Progress on those fronts wasn’t going too well either; the orcs and dark elves were putting up quite the fierce resistance.
Moreover, the main attackers in this human assault were Arthur and his legion.
…
“Hehehe—!”
Suddenly, a low, chuckling voice emanated from the purple-black object floating in the air.
“Nice magic! You almost had me dead just now.”
“Who are you?”
Airael asked, looking at it.
Logically, the one speaking should be Mork.
However, the voice just now was different from the previous Mork, and this entity gave her a feeling that was entirely off.
This version of Mork seemed to have been possessed by something.
If she’s right, that something must be related to that purple-black power.
“Who am I? I’m obviously Mork!”
The owner of the voice replied with a laugh, as if they had heard the funniest joke ever.
It was just too funny.
“No, you’re not!”
Airael responded with undeniable certainty.
This caused Arthur and the others nearby to look at her in surprise.
Though this Mork was indeed very different from before, based on the circumstances, the creature before them should still be Mork.
He must have used some secret technique to transform into this state.
Thinking that, Arthur and the others felt a heavy weight in their hearts.
Mork was already strong enough, and if he had such a secret technique, could they still defeat him?
Upon hearing Airael’s words, the purple-black object paused for a moment, then seemed to get furious as it retorted, “I’m not Mork! Then who is Mork!”
With that, the purple-black entity began to change shape, eventually transforming into a demon figure with horns and wings.
Additionally, he had clearly grown in height; Mork, who previously stood under two meters, was now over three meters tall, towering like a giant.
No, at this moment, he should not be called “human” anymore.
Demon!
Seeing Mork’s current appearance sent a jolt through Airael’s heart.
The term “demon” was not unfamiliar to her.
In her past life, that word was thrown around like it was nothing.
Demons were normally synonymous with evil.
However, in this world, Airael had never heard of any mention of demons.
Yet here before her stood a bona fide demon.
Both in appearance and aura, it was a match.
Just then, Arthur felt his sword, which he had been carrying on his back, becoming restless, as if it was eager to be drawn.
But Arthur did not pull it out.
Because of Airael’s earlier words, he had developed a certain wariness towards this so-called Sword of the King.
Although he had achieved the bond with Airael because of this sword, that didn’t change the fact that it was a rather sinister blade.
Suppressing the turmoil rising within, Airael looked at the demon state of Mork and said, “The Mork I mentioned was a dark elf, and you don’t resemble a dark elf at all, so I might as well be Mork.”
Airael’s words rang clear in the now quiet battlefield.
The dark elves, watching Mork’s transformed state, couldn’t help but murmur among themselves.
They had never seen Mork like this before.
Mork made no reply to Airael’s claim.
His current appearance raised even more suspicion.
“So you’re definitely not Mork!”
Airael fixed her gaze on him.
“Ah—!”
Suddenly, “Mork” let out a horrible scream.
He, who had been flying in the air, crashed to the ground with a resounding thud.
This unforeseen change caught everyone off guard.
People on the city wall rushed to the edge and looked down.
They saw “Mork” hugging his head while rolling on the ground, clearly in agony!
“Ailia, what’s going on?”
Arthur turned to the side, addressing Airael.
Based on their earlier conversation, Airael should know something.
“This is a battle between two Morks.”
Airael replied.
“Two Morks?”
“Yeah, let’s just keep calling the other one Mork for now!”
Thinking about the other Mork, Airael felt a heaviness in her heart.
Although this world was indeed extraordinary, with magical powers at play, the appearance of a demon truly shattered Airael’s previous understanding.
After all, according to the hierarchy of power, demons should belong to a higher echelon and shouldn’t exist in this world.
Unless, of course, there were many unknowns lurking in this world.
Upon reflection, Airael found this notion plausible.
Just like in her previous life, a seemingly ordinary world had many unsolved mysteries.
Along with certain events that had unfolded in her own life.
With these thoughts flashing through her mind, Airael continued to focus on Mork.
Beside her, while Arthur was still a bit confused, he kept quiet, observing Airael as she intently watched the “battle.”
Unlike the humans, who were merely watching the spectacle, the dark elves were frantic.
They were completely bewildered by the situation.
What in the world had happened? How had their leader ended up like this?
“Lord Mork, what’s wrong? What’s happening?”
Some dark elves shouted.
Yet Mork offered no reply.
This left the dark elves even more anxious.
If anything happened to Mork, then they…
They couldn’t dare to continue that line of thought.
