Chapter 33: Respected Orcs

Chapter 33: Respected Orcs

Facing the orc Wolf Cavalry charging from three directions, Airael didn’t feel flustered at all.

She watched the three orc Wolf Cavalry rush towards her, a cold smile appearing on her lips.

Did they really think three orcs could take her down? It seemed she hadn’t garnered their respect yet!

This was a stark contrast to Axi’s treatment.

While her strength might indeed be inferior to Axi’s, underestimating her would come at a hefty price.

Just a moment ago, one orc had already paid with his life for such folly.

As Airael stood firm and didn’t retreat despite the approach of the orc Wolf Cavalry, she began to cast magic right there.

During the casting process, her gaze swept across the three orcs charging towards her again.

Finally, her eyes landed on the orc Wolf Cavalry directly in front of her.

Just then, her magic was ready.

Two solid stone walls erupted from the ground, halting the advance of the two flanking orc Wolf Cavalry.

Caught by surprise, they didn’t have time to stop or maneuver around the stone walls, colliding with them at full speed.

Though the Riding Wolves bore the brunt of the impact, the orcs atop them certainly didn’t escape unscathed.

Dizzy and aching, their bodies protested clearly with pain.

This left Airael needing to deal with only one orc Wolf Cavalry for the time being.

Facing the oncoming orc, Airael remained completely still, appearing to be utterly defenseless, as if she had given up.

However, a keen observer would notice her tightening grip on the staff in her hand.

The orc in front of her was blissfully unaware of Airael’s subtle preparation.

Seeing his two companions thwarted by her magic, he mistakenly believed her capabilities were exhausted there.

In truth, Airael had merely allowed him to pass.

As the orc charged forward, Airael suddenly urged her steed on and activated Potential Activation.

In an instant, her horse surged forward with incredible speed towards the orc.

The orc was caught completely off guard by the sudden movement.

Though he raised his axe, he was unable to lock onto Airael.

Seizing the opportunity, Airael closed in and swung her staff down hard onto the orc’s head.

Just like before, the orc’s skull shattered under her blow, and he fell from his Riding Wolf.

After dealing with one orc, Airael darted toward the orc on her left.

At this point, both orcs had finally reacted.

However, they could no longer pose a threat to Airael.

Their encirclement had been broken by her, now forced to confront her one by one, and she had successfully eliminated one, heading for the second.

Meanwhile, Axi was having a tumultuous struggle, but it couldn’t be labeled as bad either.

Despite being temporarily trapped by over twenty orcs, they couldn’t defeat him and merely left several wounds on his body.

Moreover, the situation was turning increasingly unfavorable for the orcs as time passed.

Each wound he received gradually hampered the orcs’ strength, with the effect exponentially increasing—no linear growth here!

Once he hit a critical point, that last wound would crush the orcs.

While Airael and Axi battled fiercely, on the other side, Guli was leading Sam and his elite team swiftly towards them.

Despite Guli’s Riding Wolf being exhausted, neither he nor Sam had plans to let it rest.

They both wanted Axi taken care of, and quickly.

Guli had no love lost for Axi; he almost killed him and took many of his men down with him.

For Sam, Axi posed a potential threat to the orc’s entire southward raid plan.

Such a scenario was out of the question for him; he simply couldn’t go back with failure.

The Beast King wouldn’t devour him, but he wouldn’t go easy on him either.

Every year, the orcs sacrificed significantly for their southward plundering.

Especially in battles that took place at Mark Fortress, countless orcs fell beneath its walls.

According to the Beast King, those fallen orcs were revered, having made substantial contributions to their race.

Their sacrifices alleviated the food strain on the orcs and secured opportunities for their looting in the south.

Thus, after this war, the overall food pressure on the orc race would be greatly reduced.

The orcs who survived the war gained experience, their strength enhanced significantly.

So Sam needed to present a rather perfect report on this southern raid; no major blunders allowed.

Thus far, only Axi and Airael posed any real threat to him.

Now, he aimed to snuff out that threat in its cradle.

Neither Airael nor Axi were aware of this situation.

After spending some time dispatching the last two orcs, Airael turned her gaze toward Axi.

After some intense fighting, Axi had also made some breakthroughs.

Several orc Wolf Cavalry lay slain on the ground.

However, the remaining ones were still a challenge.

Axi, alone, had to remain vigilant against the orcs sneaking up on him.

So even with some success, Axi continued to employ a cautious and steady strategy in battle.

Observing the cool-headed Axi, the orcs began to grow anxious.

With their simple-mindedness, they easily succumbed to emotions, some orcs no longer obeying commands, rushing recklessly at Axi.

Axes and flails rained down on him like a storm.

Yet, all their attacks were deftly dodged or blocked by Axi, and eventually, he succeeded in counterattacking as they wore themselves out.

Watching this unfold, Airael quickly decided it was time to intervene.

As her magic struck the orcs, they finally noticed that Airael had been silently taking down their comrades.

Reluctantly, the orcs had to divide their attention to deal with Airael.

Otherwise, letting her continue casting magic from afar was just not acceptable!
