“What a cute cat.”
The vet said. Indeed, Nabi was cute. Of course, she wasn’t a full-on kitten anymore. She was somewhere in between a kitten and an adult cat.
“How long do you think it’s been since she was born?”
Bora also asked the vet curiously. The vet poked and prodded Nabi for a bit before speaking.
“Her nutrition is a bit lacking, so she looks small, but I think it’s been over two months since she was born. Her body is small, but other parts are fully developed.”
“Is that so?”
They said that when a cat enters its growth period, it gains about 10 grams of weight a day. Nabi’s weight was still low. Compared to a two-month-old adult cat, she was only about 70-80% of the expected weight. Now that we’d taken Nabi home, we had the duty to feed her well.
“Meooow!”
Nabi squirmed at the vet’s touch. Maybe it was because she couldn’t see me. So I fixed her gaze on me. Once I did that, Nabi calmed down. It seemed like she felt reassured when I was in her line of sight.
“Let’s start with the essential vaccinations first. You said you adopted her from a box, right?”
Bora looked at me. I nodded in response.
“Yes! The box said, ‘Please take me.’”
“Really? Then she probably hasn’t had any other vaccinations.”
As the vet said that, she stepped out for a moment to get the syringe needed for the vaccination. Nabi kept meowing at me. It was like she knew the disaster that was coming.
*Thump thump!*
She was so desperate that she tried to climb into my arms. If Nabi were still a tiny kitten, she might’ve fit, but not now. I was small too, after all.
“Nabi! You need to get the shot to stay healthy. We don’t want you to get sick later, right?”
“Meooow…”
I kept petting Nabi’s head. I had to calm her down somehow. If Nabi stayed tense, who knows what would happen when she got the shot. Shots should be taken in a relaxed state. If she stayed stiff, anything could happen.
“Nabi really seems to like Hana!”
Bora said, watching Nabi snuggle in my arms. Well, when Nabi was in Bora’s arms, she cried like crazy. Maybe Nabi had recognized me as her owner.
As Bora and I chatted, the vet soon returned with the syringe. Nabi cried even louder when she saw that. It was like she was a cat heading to hell. We needed a special measure.
“Let’s cover Nabi’s eyes.”
As I said that, I covered Nabi’s eyes with my hand. She calmed down.
“Alright, please place Nabi here on the table.”
We put Nabi on the examination table. She squirmed around, but the vet skillfully swabbed her with alcohol and inserted the needle.
“Meoooooow!”
Nabi howled in pain. Who knew she’d be such a drama queen over a shot? Nabi was a total crybaby. Of course, I used to cry when I got shots too, but that was unavoidable. The size of the syringe Nabi got and the ones I got were different. And now, as an adult, I was confident I wouldn’t cry even if I got a shot.
I was different from Nabi!
“Hang in there, Nabi!”
I kept petting her head, but Nabi still cried loudly. The room was filled with sharp cat cries.
Finally, the shot that felt like it took forever was over. Nabi flopped down, exhausted. I carefully picked her up. She’d had a tough day, so she deserved a reward. I patted her head and hugged her tightly.
—
“Meow!”
Nabi was sulking. She didn’t even want my pets. I pouted. Sure, I’d committed a crime, but it was for her own good. I didn’t know Nabi would hate the vaccination this much.
“Hana! Give this to Nabi!”
Bora subtly handed me something. I took it—it was a stick of Churu. Understanding Bora’s intention, I tore open the packet. Even though Nabi was in my arms, she turned her head toward me.
“Meow…”
She slowly started to approach me. I couldn’t help but grin. Nabi was easy to handle after all. Maybe it was because she was still a baby, with a lot of instinctual behavior. That’s why I could find a way to win her over.
“Nabi, let’s eat!”
“Meow meow!”
I handed the Churu to Nabi. Since she was over two months old, she could eat Churu just fine. She needed a lot of nutrition.
The more you consume, the better it is, they say. So handing out Churu was totally legal.
Nabi was happily munching on the Churu, ears twitching. Was it really that delicious? I got curious about the taste of Churu. While Bora was looking away, I sneakily brought the Churu to my mouth and tried it.
“Ew!”
But the taste of Churu wasn’t great. It felt like eating a fishy, salty tuna can. Nabi, who had her Churu stolen, started poking me insistently, as if demanding I give it back. Seeing her reaction, I quickly handed the Churu back to her.
“Hana, let’s go! Nabi’s vaccination is done.”
“Okay, Bora!”
And so, Nabi’s first vaccination was successfully completed.

“Boss! Look at Nabi!”
“So cute~ Not as cute as Hana though~”
The boss was petting Nabi’s head. It was because I had bragged about Nabi in the boss’s office earlier. The boss had mentioned wanting to see the cat I was raising.
“Boss!”
“Yeah?”
“Can’t we make special food for Nabi? Starlight Food has the capability, right?”
I asked the boss. I wanted to feed Nabi something good. Starlight Food was definitely a company capable of doing that.
And the ingredients for cat food were already abundant. Starlight Food was producing beef, after all. Cat food usually contains meat, and Starlight Food could easily handle that demand.
I looked at the boss with sparkling eyes. Feeling my gaze, the boss nodded and said, “If Hana wants it, I’ll make it happen! I’ll create a company just for making cat food, just like you said.”
The boss was truly generous! Like giving a Christmas gift, they just decided to create a company out of thin air. I raised my arms in excitement. The thought of being able to feed Nabi good food made me incredibly happy.
“Boss, you’re the best!”
I dove toward the boss. The boss placed Nabi on the desk and hugged me, then kissed my cheek and said, “I’ll leave Nabi with the secretary for now. Hana, how about having lunch with the boss today? I’ve prepared something delicious!”
“Sure, Boss!”
With the boss creating a cat food company for me, there was no reason to refuse lunch. I smiled brightly and snuggled into the boss’s arms as we went to eat. Nabi was meowing, but the secretary would take care of her. Besides, we’d be back in about an hour.

“How’s the cheese factory going?”
“Ah. We’ve already acquired the factory and are producing cheese. No need to worry about supply.”
Kim Sehee flipped through some documents as she spoke to the secretary.
Starlight Food’s production process was simple. Instead of creating products from scratch, they bought out small to medium-sized factories for a hefty price.
Then, all they had to do was change the ingredients and packaging to create their products.
Cheese could be made the same way. They acquired a struggling cheese factory by offering a large sum, allowing them to start production immediately.
Of course, this method had the downside of scattering factory locations everywhere. But it didn’t matter. Securing time was far more important.
After all, Starlight Food’s products were guaranteed to bring profit once they were made.
While acquiring the cheese factory, they were also building a new one. The old factory would be handled once the new one was established.
Starlight Food had money to spare, after all.
Kim Sehee was now considering acquiring a factory to produce cat food.
If it was Hana’s request, it had to be done.
