Chapter 323

Episode 323. Who Am I? “The King of Neutrality.” (4)

==========

After that incident, a week has already passed.

—————————————-

<Base Level 9 Upgrade in Progress...>

<Time Remaining Until Completion: 32 Days 18 Hours 56 Minutes 32 Seconds>

—————————————-

“Checking the Level 9 upgrade time again?”

“Of course, it’s the time when the real super battleships start appearing.”

I was using the resources gathered faster than expected, thanks to the ‘usage fees’ paid by a large number of users docking, to immediately proceed with the Level 9 upgrade.

Well, the upgrade itself started three days ago…

Anyway, it’s no exaggeration to say that I’ve grown so well that I’m now in the top 10% of users.

‘Who am I? Rank 3 in the top 10%.’

Thanks to that, I guess.

Every time I look at that upgrade progress window, I can’t help but smile like a proud dad.

Of course, some might say, “Why react so much to just an upgrade progress window?”…

-Boom!

“…”

“Commander, it seems some new arrivals got into a fight and rammed their battleships into each other.”

“…”

“With over 500 Commanders now, incidents like this are happening quite often.”

-“Ahhh, you damn brat!”

-“Yeah, you were the one who got distracted!”

-“Who the hell did the paint vandalism on the base?”

“Haha, idiots.”

I thought it was a decent idea to accept the docking of user bases that would act as branches (?) of the three major clans, and get them to certify that they wouldn’t form separate clans.

But perhaps because of that, my area is considered a completely neutral zone.

People who want a place where they won’t be attacked by others are flocking in, and in proportion to that, a bunch of ‘jokers’ are also coming in.

As Jessica said, with the number of users exceeding 500, incidents are happening almost every day.

Even though I clearly stated that I have no intention of forming a ‘clan.’

And even though I explicitly included that intention in the gallery certification post.

Title: I’m also coming to the Avalon neutral zone lol

Well, it’s called neutral, but isn’t it practically a clan?

Now that I’m part of a top-ranking clan, it seems like all that’s left is to enjoy the perks lololol

With people like that either trying to provoke or internally pushing for clan formation.

Repeatedly beating them up or quietly kicking them out, I had no choice but to heal by looking at the upgrade window, whether I liked it or not.

Well, excluding those things… hmm.

Everyone is doing their own thing, living a really smooth and uneventful life.

If I had a bit more leisure, I thought I could live like a village chief.

And one thing that’s somewhat fortunate is that more than half of the users docked at Avalon have almost no military power, including fleets.

Thanks to that, even if conflicts arise, throwing a Kraken in their face makes them learn manners on their own, which is quite fortunate.

==========

Meanwhile, besides those 500 or so users, there were new users arriving.

Most users chose to wait until a spot opened up in Avalon.

But they showed a tendency to go and stay at the ‘Barracuda’ I had newly occupied.

Of course, in the process, if they didn’t come by ship first to check but just warped their base over…

Unfortunately, they ended up as homeless in front of Avalon.

But among them, only one user naturally occupied a docking zone in Avalon.

“By the way, Jessica, has there been any complaints from the ‘Biomass’ side?”

“No, honestly, it seems like the Biomass side just sent representatives as a formality.”

The reason was none other than the fact that this user was leading a massive clan that followed in the footsteps of the “Big Three Clans” composed of Humanity, Loki, and Justice.

It was because they came as the representative of the ‘Biomass Clan,’ a large clan that firmly occupies the realm of space monsters.

So, what could other users say?

You think you can pick a fight?

What can one user possibly say or do against a clan with over 20,000 members?

If they foolishly voiced their complaints, the representative user would report the situation to the clan headquarters.

And once Biomass caught wind of it, they might go full rage mode and seek revenge (or something like that).

There’s no one out there who could stop the fury of a pissed-off Biomass.

Whether they liked it or not, everyone had no choice but to applaud and welcome the Biomass Clan representative taking the docking spot.

==========

However, in the case of the Biomass Clan, as mentioned earlier, there was a strong vibe of “We’re here because everyone else is sending people too.”

Other clans were subtly trying to do “business” here while also attempting to recruit me into their own clans.

But the Biomass Clan seemed completely uninterested in such things, preferring to stay holed up in their base, showing a strong tendency to keep to themselves.

And besides that, the Biomass Clan’s base itself had a rather peculiar structure.

What was it like, you ask? Well, the base itself was… how should I put it…

Since my base also belonged to a “space monster,” there was a massive “Nest of Life” on one side, squirming and pulsating in a bizarre manner.

“By the way, the Biomass Clan’s base is… seriously messed up in the head.”

“Messed up in the head?”

“Yeah, that’s a thing.”

The base of a Biomass Clan user had gone beyond just being “infested” like mine.

The base itself had reached a point where it could be considered a fully living organism.

The only things proving it was an “Astral Base” were the docking zones and various external facilities.

The thick outer armor was made up of pulsating blood vessels, massive muscle masses, and exoskeletal plates.

The external docking facilities were still there, with ships parked in spacious areas.

But for some reason, there were large, tentacle-like appendages extending from the docking passageways, attached to the monster-like bio-ships like umbilical cords.

Instead of cranes or other external equipment, freely moving “tentacles” handled the work.

In places where radar should be, there were large eyes or antennae growing out of bio-monsters.

It made me think that if the “Nest of Life” in my base were expanded, it might look something like that.

But beyond the base’s appearance, there was something else that shocked not only me and Jessica but also commanders who had never ventured into the realm of space monsters.

That something was…

-“Icarus, why don’t you get a bio-modification while you’re at it?”

“Uh, yeah… I’ll think about it.”

-“You don’t know how convenient it is until you try it, you know?”

Not only the commander, who looked like a half-human, half-insect hybrid, but even the superhumans in that base had undergone extreme “monster-style” bio-modifications.

But these “monster-style” bio-modifications had a rather perverse tendency.

After ending the communication with Wyriddy, the Biomass representative, I shook my head and said,

“It felt like if we had two more Gryanarrs, we’d see a whole new world.”

“Yeah, you’re right.”

The commander himself claimed it was comfortable, so he had tentacles or third and fourth arms attached to his back and shoulders.

The other superhumans sporadically visible on the screen also had something… off about them.

The clothes they wore were like Oxianor, with living tentacles squirming around.

There were eyeballs embedded right in the middle of their outfits, blinking and staring at me.

Everything from their clothes to their bodies seemed heavily modified…

Honestly, it was just a very perverse setup, and as an observer, it left me with a very strange feeling.
