Chapter Forty-Nine: Kayin: What a Relief
“Hey, oh, huh? Alright, I got it.”
After hanging up the phone, Ash’s mood wasn’t as good as when he had started sandboarding.
“Geez, I thought we were out of luck.”
Passing by, the Snakies, who were becoming increasingly respectful toward him, he casually tossed his somewhat damaged evening gown to one of them for repairs, revealing underneath his tight vest. He then walked toward the fixed mechanical creator.
“Littler Dark.”
Mounting his motorcycle, he didn’t need to look back to know who was behind him.
Recently, while she keeps saying no, has she actually begun to get a little clingy? Hmm… In that case, maybe I should keep some distance from her.
‘Boss… About what you said before…’
“I haven’t forgotten.”
Hearing a mischievous voice stirring within him, Ash, unable to get angry, took out a seal and stamped himself to summon Kayin.
“Timons?”
“Hold on.”
Fidgeting with Kayin’s neck, Ash tossed him to Little Dark. Recognizing that this thing looked exactly like a fairy he had once killed, Little Dark nearly dropped her magic wand out of shock and almost hit Kayin with it too.
“What is this?”
Looking at Kayin in her hand, eyes wide as if he were a puppy, and then at Ash getting ready to leave, Little Dark kept all her thoughts bottled up inside, confusion filling her gaze.
“Oh, he is my demon, and also my weak part, seeking comfort after going through something tough.”
Thinking back, the demon expelled from Levi might symbolize a part of that person. So, could it be that the part of me I’ve abandoned or hidden is Kayin?
“Hugtto~!”
Looking down at Kayin she had unknowingly hugged, Little Dark’s usually straightforward mind went into an error mode.
Timons said they are friends, and friends help each other. He also said that this small thing named Kayin is part of him, so I should help him too… Is that right?
Ash had long grasped Xiao An’s character. Besides battles or Tsukikage Lily, this cold-hearted assassin unexpectedly acted rather cluelessly.
“So please use your darkness to comfort this weak soul.”
“…”
Little Dark wanted to say more but Ash left no room for further words. He revved the throttle and sped away, leaving half of his essence in her embrace.
“I’m a demon, my name is Kayin desu, nice to meet you~”
“…Little Dark.”
Trying to soften her touch, Little Dark gently stroked the top of Kayin’s head. Seeing the white rabbit figure soft in her arms, she understood why the Pretty Cures loved their partners so much.
It feels… not bad at all?
Held in her arms, Kayin pushed deeper, his face starting to relax, looking very content.
Though I’d prefer Precure, this feels quite comfortable. Indeed, happy things make one happier when relaxed.
Such a young and fragrant body, so soft~ This is something the boss rarely gets.
But in reality, the boss is truly hardworking~ Always running between two identities, jumping at any chance to explore beautiful things… Just like Ash is.
For him, regardless of the outcome, if heroes can shine brightly, he’s content with his fate.
Compared to that, the newcomer he met today is… Completely opposite from Ash.
Meanwhile, the newcomer being talked about, Eddie, was having a terrible dream.
[Look, it’s him. Clearly, he lacks combat abilities yet still squeezes into the fighting lineup. Such a fool would surely panic in real battle, wet himself.]
Cloaked individuals, speaking in just audible tones, criticized Eddie maliciously.
[Giving up is easier. You only have such illusions because of others giving.]
“Not so weak am I!”
Eddie rose forcefully, punching toward the voice, stumbling almost falling.
“Commander?”
Recognizing a familiar figure, Eddie hurriedly followed.
“Commander! I’ve strived hard against the dark, aiming at you. Yet, why am I drifting apart, Commander?”
“…”
Stretching his hand, unable to catch his idol, he wordlessly walked away.
“Tell me…”
tell me what I should do. If you tell me, I’ll do anything.
“Katherine?”
Just as he felt utterly hopeless, the very person he wished to see appeared before his eyes at the wrong time.
You’re the only one that ever believed in me, yet you’re leaving too?
“Because you’re useless now, Edie. The useless only get discarded.”
Saying so, the tall woman walked away, leaving only her fiery red hair swaying.
“Katherine… Katherine! No, without you, how can I go on?”
“No… No!”
Opening his eyes, surrounded by four eyes of different colors, Eddie screamed in alarm.
“I’m not dead? Those, uh, what are y’all…? What is this?!”
About to stand, Eddie was pulled down by something behind him. Turning his head, he saw silver chains binding both him and the pillar firmly.
