Chapter Ninety-Five: Support in Crisis
Bang!
Suddenly, everything turned white before my eyes.
Then, countless stars flew into my vision.
Buzzing…
Intense ringing and dizziness overwhelmed my senses. My head spun, and my internal organs seemed to be exchanging places under violent impact. My tongue hurt, and I tasted blood in my mouth.
It seems like I bit my tongue…
I was thrown back.
But Bishop Nero, whom I thought would be thrown back, only stepped back several steps and did not fall down.
The halos swirling around him seemed to serve a protective function different from that of a light shield. This time, it felt like hitting an immovable steel wall. Even with the armor, half of my body went numb.
I shook my dizzy head.
In the next moment, I gripped Captain Gray tightly, manipulating the flames to draw an arc in the air, turning direction mid-flight, and charging at Bishop Nero once again.
Golden radiance illuminated the entire darkness.
Flashing lights mixed with the thick smoke of death and ice crystals scattered within it, quivering before my eyes.
Bishop Nero stood at the center of the golden light, his hands clasped tightly in front of his chest, muttering indistinct words. The golden radiance around him grew more dazzling. He stared at me fiercely, his eyes filled with intense malevolence, exuding a dangerous aura.
Look at Dad Li!
The short distance was covered in an instant.
I swung the black chain in my hand, emitting a piercing sound as if tearing through the air, striking again.
Clang!
With a heavy thud, Captain Gray’s blade pierced Bishop Nero’s neck. The fierce force broke through the golden light, as if it could easily pierce through rock, but the tip only sank into his flesh less than half a finger deep before stopping.
A look of pain appeared on his face, but this strike only made him sway slightly; his lower body remained steady, and no blood flowed from the wound. The smoke entwined around the blade was quickly dispelled by the golden light, unable to touch his body.
Is it body reinforcement?!
He didn’t even dodge, underestimating me…
Then let’s see if the cold works!
I moved closer to him, pulling the chain with all my might with my right hand while suddenly releasing blue ice light from my left, dragging thick white mist. I struck his lower abdomen with all my strength.
Bang—!
Crack, crack…
Ice crystals exploded in the golden light, terrifying shattering sounds exploding repeatedly in my ears. The temperature in the air plummeted sharply, white mist surged from beneath my feet, carrying countless ice shards outwards, the fierce current blowing away some of the dead smoke.
Bishop Nero was lifted off his feet by the punch, his body hunched over. White frost instantly covered his entire body, his purple-gold robe hardened by the cold, even his hair covered with a layer of silver.
So heavy…
This punch hit me hard.
It felt like hitting some high-density, heavy stone. My entire left arm instantly went numb and painful, the soreness in my wrist and elbow joints unbearable. My whole body trembled, and I couldn’t help but grit my teeth.
Tough Body…
The irresistible counterforce made me stagger, almost losing balance. Taking two steps back, I steadied myself, clenching my teeth and advancing again.
Captain Gray couldn’t be pulled out, and he couldn’t be shaken off. I released my grip on the scythe handle with my right hand, clenching my fist tightly. The smoke wrapped around my entire right arm, smashing like a hammer towards his swollen side of the face.
Bang!
“Where is Margaret!” I shouted loudly.
At the same time, my left fist wrapped in freezing white mist directly struck his face.
Bang!
“Ma! Gre! Tret!”
Thump! Thump! Thump!
One punch after another.
“Where is she—!!!”
The armored fist rained down on Bishop Nero’s face and body, making his body sway like a rag in a storm, retreating continuously.
The rampant dead smoke raged before my eyes, the low-temperature frost exploded in clusters in my vision, and the chaotic currents surged beneath my feet. Bishop Nero’s robe was already in tatters, one eye swollen and bruised, his upper body nearly exposed, the ugly fat on his waist and abdomen visible, his crown flying off who knows where, his hair frozen into a mess of ice spears.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, quickly freezing into ice, even his teeth coated with ice.
A thin layer of white frost.
“Ughaaaaaaaah——”
Bishop Nero’s eyes were bloodshot, staring at me with a wild animal-like roar coming from his mouth.
Although the radiance enveloping his body was gradually weakening, his hands remained tightly clasped in front of his chest, never parting.
…
Then die…
In the next moment, I stopped my frenzied attack, pushed off the ground with both feet, and lightly leaped into the air. My arms spread wide like the wings of a bird, and I struck Bishop Nero’s head with all my might.
Bang!
“Pfft!”
With the immense force of the impact, Bishop Nero finally couldn’t hold back and spat out a mouthful of crimson ice shards.
“Ahhh——”
I screamed loudly.
Immediately after, thick death smoke erupted from my palms, instantly engulfing his entire head, then rapidly spreading to his upper body and down to his feet. Within less than a second, the fog of death swallowed us both. The death smoke, denser than the darkest night, exploded outward like a wave, carrying a frigid current across the field.
“Ughaaah——”
Bishop Nero’s scream had become hoarse and harsh, yet it grew increasingly fierce. Anger and pain poured out from every word he uttered.
The chaotic flow of death smoke completely overwhelmed the power of frost, and chaotic energy surged around Bishop Nero, nearly extinguishing the golden light overhead…
But it could not completely consume that last sliver of radiance.
Even now… he still won’t die… he still won’t die…
He still won’t die!!
I almost didn’t care anymore as I released the death smoke. The surrounding wilderness, already transformed into scorched earth by the terrifying black smoke, started to tremble underfoot, but it just wouldn’t take him down, wouldn’t take him down!
Stubborn old thing!
Boom!
Black flames enveloped my body and burned fiercely within the thick smoke.
My head hurts so much…
“Ugh… Ugh… Ahahaha!”
Suddenly, Bishop Nero let out a maniacal laugh.
Immediately afterward, dazzling white light burst forth before my eyes, accompanied by rainbow-like hues, breaking through the darkness in an instant.
Buzz—
“Ahhh…”
The searing pain made me involuntarily cry out, and I closed my eyes.
This is bad…
I realized something was wrong. But there was no time to react.
In the next moment, a fierce wind hit my face.
Rumble!
As the thunderclap exploded ahead, my ears seemed to go deaf; I couldn’t hear anything. The terrifying air currents blew me off the ground, sending me flying backward.
What…
I panicked, instinctively grabbing Captain Gray’s chain, trying to use Bishop Nero’s invincibility to resist the wind force while desperately igniting the black flames, attempting to keep myself from being blown away.
My eyes hurt terribly, tears streaming uncontrollably down my face, swept up by the wind to my temples. In desperation, I could only half-open one eye.
In my vision, the death smoke and frost mist were completely dispelled, revealing only endless white light ahead.
Bishop Nero’s figure flickered in and out of sight within the white light. A terrifying tornado centered on him swept across the land, sand and rocks flying in the blinding light. The horrifying storm obliterated my senses, blocking my vision. I couldn’t hear or see clearly, feeling my grip suddenly loosen as Captain Gray’s scythe blade whizzed past my ear.
Immediately after, the chaotic air currents lifted me into the sky.
Rumble rumble rumble…
As my hearing gradually returned, the white light emanating from Bishop Nero’s body grew brighter and brighter. Terrifying energy swirled around him, emitting shocking roars.
Something is coming…
I manipulated the flames, struggling to adjust my posture amidst the storm, trying to stabilize myself quickly. However, the chaotic airflow made it impossible for me to fly steadily even a few meters above the ground. I couldn’t use my strength properly, feeling as if my limbs were unresponsive.
What do I do… what do I do!
I was desperate, almost shouting out loud.
Suddenly, a golden light burst forth from atop Bishop Nero’s head, and a radiant golden bell formed silently amidst the blazing white light.
!
That is…
Dong—
The bell tolled.
Bishop Nero’s body stumbled within the white light.
Instantly, the blazing light began to dissipate like a flame doused with cold water, flickering several times before fading away. The storm subsided, and I landed firmly on the ground.
My heart leaped with joy.
“Margaret!”
I shouted instinctively.
