Chapter 302: The Academy’s Chief
As the young man fell, Lolan Hill immediately reacted and grabbed Keti’s hand to stop this reckless fellow. Fortunately, the commotion was not too loud, and few noticed. Lolan Hill briefly transformed into an Angel Sequence; a symbol flashed in her eyes, and a faint sprinkle of light particles integrated into the talkative young man’s body, easing him significantly. His breathing gradually stabilized.
Thank goodness Keti only showed hostility and did not actually attack; otherwise, with just one glare, she could have turned the young man into gas. It was then that Lolan Hill realized the terrifying power of Sequence 9.
After healing, Lolan Hill returned to her Demon Sequence. Her actions were rather discreet, and most present were students who didn’t notice anything unusual about the Angel Sequence magic in the dining hall. Only Keti curiously glanced at Lolan Hill but didn’t ask much more.
After over half a minute, the young man slowly woke up from his chair, momentarily dazed. It took some time before he recalled seeing a pair of red eyes and then passing out.
“I’m sorry, it was my companion who acted impulsively. Are you alright now?” Lolan Hill decided to apologize first.
“I…” The young man gazed at Lolan Hill’s beautiful face, momentarily entranced. He was about to say something romantic when he caught sight of the black-haired girl beside him, causing a shudder to run through him. The painful memories surged back, making him more rational.
“I’m fine. Yes, yes, no problem. Sorry, I disturbed you. Goodbye.”
The young man hastily left, fearing for his life. Though the beauty was attractive, nothing compared to his own safety. He was merely a small noble who often used lavish tricks to deceive young girls, playing around until he succeeded or moved on to the next.
He knew well enough that genuine high nobility would never look at him, so he usually targeted girls of average birth and looks, as they would be easily charmed and devoted if given a little care and kindness.
But today, he couldn’t resist approaching the exceptionally beautiful girl. He thought his chances were slim, but Keti seemed naive and curious, asking endless questions like a child. This encouraged him, thinking he might succeed even if Lolan Hill asked him to leave.
He had no idea she was anything but innocent.
I was foolish indeed, believing Emanas had such a beautiful and pure girl. Considering the recommendation letters, the academy exams, and the intrigues among the nobles, the prettier the girl, the more she would be entangled in schemes.
Daina felt humiliated today. Always hunting, he ended up being toyed with instead. His words earlier felt like those of a clown.

Watching the young man hurry away, Lolan Hill breathed a sigh of relief. The matter was settled.
After lunch, Lolan Hill and Keti prepared to leave. However, a group descended the stairs from the other side of the dining hall. Most were second-year students, with a few upperclassmen. They surrounded a purple-haired girl, speaking sweetly.
Lolan Hill recognized the purple-haired girl as Osumna, whom she had seen during the final exam. Luckily, she and Keti were in a quiet corner, unseen by the group.
Osumna stood in their midst, visibly pleased, her actions becoming more graceful, exuding confidence.
In this world, if someone displayed extreme confidence, spoke firmly, and moved decisively, others would easily be influenced, feeling trust and security.
This quality was common among great figures and fraudsters. The difference lay in whether they truly possessed the strength or merely believed they did.
Hearing the praise around her, Osumna became even more convinced that her time had come.
She thoroughly enjoyed the adoration, realizing this was the life she deserved.
“Did you know, Osumna, after Velin graduated, the chief position at the Fortress Academy is open,” said one of her followers.
A senior student agreed, “Yes, the chief student has a unique uniform and significant power in the student council. All club funds need their approval, giving them considerable influence.”
“One hears the chief student has their own dormitory with a bath,” a girl added enviously.
“Most importantly, this title is prestigious. Wherever you go after graduation, you’ll be respected. Imagine, the chief of Emanas, how glorious and striking.”
The group began discussing the benefits of being the academy chief, and Osumna listened eagerly, with some students urging her to compete.
Finally, a thoughtful follower asked, “So, how does one become the academy chief?”
“First, you get nomination eligibility, then students vote on candidates.”
“Only those who placed in the top three in school events or competitions qualify for nominations, ensuring the chief has talent. The one with the most votes represents everyone’s approval.”
“To pass, you must get the first vote and at least 30% of the total votes. Then, the student council and school leadership grant special badges, uniforms, and rewards.”
“It sounds challenging,” some second-year students remarked.
“No, really, only a few can compete. Velin, Maggie, and a few others from the graduating class are the main contenders. Few others have much fame yet.”
“Velin’s generation was exceptionally strong, completely overshadowing later classes, leaving no standout successors,” sighed a senior.
“There’s another recent rumor,” someone said.
“What is it?”
“The Griffin Duke’s heir, Jielanen, plans to give his chief position to Darsi.”
“How generous and decisive of the Griffin Duke’s heir.”
“It’s quite normal. The Griffin Duke’s power is at its peak; the chief position and influence mean little. Better to let it go, gain a good reputation, and live more comfortably,” analyzed an astute student.
The group had just come down from the upstairs private dining area, chatting about the chief position as they walked. Osumna finally spotted the black-haired girl in the corner. Due to the angle, she only saw Lolan Hill, while Keti was just a silhouette.
So, you’ve come to the Fortress Academy too. It looks like you have no friends. Probably another arrogant noble, thinking the world will offer itself to her. How naive.
But I, who have experienced national ruin and hardship, with strong will and many followers, am a natural witch. In the coming years, I will stand atop the entire academy.
And you, just look up at me from below.
Osumna stood on the stairs, confident and resolute.
Thank you for the support, Big Card.
