Chapter 30: Rules of Conduct
Realizing that she had blacked out, Airael suddenly felt a wave of panic wash over her.
She was afraid of having done something outrageous while drunk and wondered how she ended up in bed. Had someone taken advantage of her?
These were questions that Airael simply could not answer.
No memories related to this were present in her mind.
This feeling was utterly dreadful for her.
It had been such a long, long time since she had felt anything like it.
Yesterday was her first time getting drunk in this world, and oh boy, did she get drunk!
She had to remind herself that she was now a beautiful lady, no longer a rugged man.
What if someone had “picked her up” in a rather unsavory manner?
Fortunately, she didn’t feel any discomfort in her body; her clothes were a tad messy, but they were still on her.
So, the worst-case scenario was ruled out.
However, just the thought of potentially being taken advantage of made Airael quite uncomfortable.
But she had no memories of what happened after getting intoxicated.
Even if something had happened, she would be none the wiser.
Feeling exasperated, Airael could only silently pray that nothing happened last night.
It was perfectly normal to get drunk.
And learning from this experience, Airael made a vow in her heart.
That is, unless absolutely necessary, she should keep her distance from alcohol, and if she must drink, it should be in moderation, never too much.
“You’re awake!”
Just then, Axi pushed the door open and walked in, looking at Airael.
Upon hearing Axi’s voice, Airael hurriedly lowered her head and pulled her cloak around herself, completely hiding beneath it.
Then she glared at Axi and snapped, “Did you not even think to knock before coming in?”
Her mood was already foul thanks to her blackout, and Axi’s entrance felt like pouring salt in a wound.
Realizing he was in the wrong, Axi quickly apologized, “I’m sorry! I—”
“Get out!”
Just as he opened his mouth to explain, Airael interrupted him.
“Get out now!”
Airael was really annoyed.
Does this guy have no sense of awareness?
Couldn’t he see that she was trying to tidy her clothes?
And it wasn’t just her outer cloak; she certainly couldn’t sort out her inner garments in front of Axi!
Although confused by the situation, Axi complied and stepped back outside.
Once Axi was gone, Airael took off her outer cloak and began to fix her inner clothing.
As she tidied up, she couldn’t help but dwell on how Axi had been staring at her, growing angrier by the second.
Typical guy behavior, huh?
And she was unsure if Axi had caught a glimpse of her face in the urgency.
Little did poor Airael know.
Last night, thanks to her own actions, she not only revealed her face to Axi but also allowed him a rather compromising advantage over her!
After finishing up, Airael stepped down from the bed and used a cleaning magic to rid herself of all the grime.
Although she would have preferred to solve these issues the old-fashioned way and enjoy the process—which magic simply couldn’t provide—conditions just didn’t allow for it now.
She wasn’t at the Elven Royal Palace or a well-furnished inn; she was in a rather impoverished village.
Hence, she had to make do with magic for the time being.
Though her toiletries didn’t take up much space, the limited area in her Storage Ring had already been allocated to more essential items.
Like food and water.
Besides, she was out for training, so she couldn’t have too high of expectations for her living conditions.
After fixing herself up, Airael left the room.
Outside, Axi, who had been facing away from the door, turned around upon hearing the noise and said, “Ailia, I’m really sorry about earlier! I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to see if you were awake, and I didn’t want to disturb you, so I didn’t knock.”
Having had some time to think outside, he realized he had been quite rude.
Especially since he had been staring at Ailia while she was sorting out her clothes.
After hearing Axi’s sincere apology, Airael’s expression softened considerably.
Feeling better, she was not unreasonable and replied, “Well, since you’ve apologized, I won’t hold it against you this time. But next time, you have to remember to knock before coming into my room and get my permission.”
“I’ll remember that.”
At this moment, Axi wasn’t about to argue back with Airael.
And considering her desire for rules, it was preferable for him too.
He didn’t want to be known as someone who disregarded etiquette.
At the same time, he hoped Airael would soon realize that she was the one being unreasonable in this matter!
Overall, sticking to the rules wasn’t a bad thing for either of them.
Seeing Axi being so obedient made Airael both astonished and pleased.
Feeling cheerful, she decided to drop the subject and casually asked, “So, what brings you here this morning?”
“If you’re awake, we need to hurry up and get going. Just know that every moment we waste might mean another village suffering great misfortune.”
Axi replied.
“Oh, I see! Then let’s prepare and set off quickly.”
After finishing breakfast, Airael and Axi departed the village with the villagers bidding them farewell, continuing on their mission journey.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the Orc Captain who had escaped from Axi earlier arrived before a group of Orcs riding Riding Wolves, led by an exceptionally strong Orc.
He was a whole head taller than the already robust Orc Captain.
“What happened, Guli?”
The towering Orc glared at the Orc Captain, who returned with a ragtag band of warriors.
Guli, the Orc Captain who had escaped, replied, “Commander, we encountered a very powerful human while raiding a human village. We were no match for him. Besides, he had a very strong Mage assisting him.”
The exceptionally large Orc was none other than Sam, the Commander of the Riding Wolf Legion and one of the many formidable Orcs responsible for the raiding in the south.
Sam looked at Guli and continued to ask, “There were just two of them?”
“We only saw one person; the Mage had been hiding. I’m not sure if there were others.”
Guli answered.
