Chapter 295: Year-End Dinner Gathering
In the central school building, in the Black Water Lily Activity Room,
The tables that were usually arranged in the activity room have been put away. Now, the slightly empty room has a charcoal fire brazier placed in the center. The red coals within seem to breathe, brightening and dimming as people move back and forth.
Today’s activity room was especially lively, not only with the eight members from Lolan and Bumansa’s dormitory, but also with members from Cafra, Fire Fist and Wine club.
After the exams, after a week of tense waiting, the results came out yesterday. Compared to before, everyone has made significant progress. Not only the new young ladies, but even the senior students who struggled on the passing line have improved their rankings.
This world isn’t just about you working hard; others are also striving to live. As grades advance, competition becomes more intense. After comparing the rankings of the senior members of the Fire Fist and Wine club with previous terms, they found considerable improvement this semester, all grateful for Lolan’s help. Hence, today everyone gathered together to celebrate.
Since it’s a celebration, there naturally had to be food. Under Nanko’s suggestion, everyone decided to make dumplings. It wasn’t because dumplings were particularly delicious, but because the atmosphere of everyone participating together was very nice, exuding a warmth akin to home.
“More dough is needed, Boss Nanko,” a member from the Fire Fist and Wine club hurried over, holding an empty plate.
“Just a moment, I’m almost done kneading this one.”
Nanko, bare-armed, worked vigorously, then picked up the dough, slapping it onto the wooden table in front of him with a loud thud, turning it at a different angle. Despite the cold winter, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
Even though he is an Extraordinary Being, when it comes to cooking, he prefers traditional methods, emphasizing manual work.
“There you go.”
Nanko handed the warm dough in his hands to his companion, letting them take it over so that the members who had been waiting could cut it into small pieces and roll them into dumpling wrappers.
On the other side, several young ladies sat by the corner around the fire brazier, picking up the prepared wrappers and filling them with various ingredients.
Lolan wore a white dress today, sitting by the table, carefully wrapping dumplings, occasionally chatting with others.
“I didn’t expect that the one with the best score among us this time would be Lolan,” Alena said casually while wrapping dumplings, only caring that they were sealed tightly and not bothering with aesthetics.
“Who else did you think it would be?” Letis said from the side. She wrapped them slowly but managed to make them look quite exquisite.
“Of course, it’s you, Letis.”
“At the beginning of the term, I knew you were the young lady from the renowned alchemy faction in Rourna, so I thought you would be the most impressive among us.”
Alena spoke without realizing the impact of her words, causing Letis to feel a bit embarrassed.
“You’ve always been against me. Why are you praising me now? I don’t believe it.”
“It’s because Letis is too proud. Many times, what seems ordinary to you can be quite challenging for an average person,” Alena continued.
“Not everyone gets the chance for a good education.受限 by their environment, they might sometimes have biases and narrow perspectives. But I think that coming to Emanas, where all sorts of students gather, will help broaden our horizons, and we will all improve gradually.”
“So, when we see others’ shortcomings, we shouldn’t criticize them rashly. Everyone has their own struggles.”
Despite Alena’s usual carefree demeanor, these few sentences she said seemed unexpectedly profound, leaving Letis momentarily speechless, feeling like she was truly being persuaded.
“Then why is Alena usually so lazy? Did something bad happen to her when she was younger?” Ye Ling blurted out innocently.
“This…” Alena was momentarily at a loss for words. Laziness indeed seemed hard to justify reasonably. Was this little one genuinely smart or just pretending to be ignorant?
“Haha, Alena must have realized how capable Ye Ling is,” Lily said with a mischievous smile. She and Alena were usually the closest, often joking around with each other.
At this moment, Kavla, wearing an apron, walked over with a large plate in her hand.
“These are all wrapped up, right? Bumansa said the previous batch is almost done. I came to take new ones to cook.”
Vimya looked up, glanced at the rows of dumplings on the table, and replied, “That’s right, let me help you.”
Then, the two worked together to place the dumplings on the plate, which Kavla then took to the kitchen.
Radian led them to the kitchen.
By the time everyone in the activity room finished their tasks, it was already noon. They gathered around a large table pushed together, eating dumplings, creating a lively scene.
“Come on, come on, let’s raise our glasses, the brothers of Fire Fist and Wine,” Nanke raised a cup and stood up first. Their club didn’t lack wine; they had brought up several cases today just for the dumplings.
“I’m sure everyone has made significant progress this term. Let’s not waste words, and first, we’ll honor Big Sister Lolan,” Nanke said with a hearty voice, then his club members smiled and stood up one by one, each holding a wine glass. Most of these members of the Fire Fist and Wine club were robust, standing like a dark wave, exuding a strong aura reminiscent of the underworld from olden times.
Lolan Hill, sitting on the other side, wasn’t short either, but compared to these towering men, she appeared somewhat petite. Seeing them all stand up, Lolan Hill couldn’t stay seated any longer and also stood up.
Watching these burly men down their drinks in one go, Lolan Hill didn’t refuse and raised her small wine glass, drinking it all in one sip. Luckily, her glass wasn’t big, so it wasn’t too much; after finishing, she felt a slight warmth, her cheeks flushing red, which left others staring at her for a moment before they all sat back down.
For now, let’s set aside this playful gathering. After today, many people might have to part ways.
The freshmen would advance to various selected academies, and some upperclassmen would graduate or complete their studies. Future meetings might be years apart.
Despite her talent being more suited for combat, Bumansa chose the Nature Sequence and entered the Fortress Academy. Similarly, Lily chose the Nature Sequence at the Fortress Academy because she came from the Verdant Empire, where she had many friends and nobles.
Alena and Letis naturally chose the Magic Sequence and went to the High Tower Academy in the Northern Region. Ye Ling, who studied the Dragon Sequence, also went to this academy.
Nia now had her own plans and chose the War Sequence at the Bridge Pier Academy in the Southern Region. Vimya, who studied the Ocean Sequence, also went to the Bridge Pier Academy.
Kalvra decided to follow the Primal Sequence and would remain in the central school building.
Lolan Hill, on the other hand, went to two different academies under two identities. Lohil went to the Temple Academy to study the Angel Sequence, while Lolan went to the Fortress Academy to study the Demon Sequence.
The new year was about to begin, and what exciting events would happen in the new semester?
