Chapter 284

Chapter 284. Finally, Towards Base Level 8.

Three days later.

“Really, you’ve been through a lot, Admiral Liran.”

“…Honestly, I’ve experienced all sorts of things.”

We were seeing off the now male sow (???) Admiral Liran and his fleet, who had turned into such due to a 3,000-fold increase in sensitivity, as they left the base.

Of course, naturally, to block the drugs that had spread meticulously throughout his body and their side effects.

After Gryanarr and the research team worked tirelessly for two days straight, performing surgeries and reconstruction work.

Anyway, right after seeing off the Pirate Alliance’s escort fleet in such a manner.

<<Fleet Association Construction Complete!>>

<From now on, construction and repair of 'Battleships' is possible!>

—————————————-

‘Oh.’

Seeing the construction completion event message pop up at just the right time, I turned off the communication screen and spoke to Jessica beside me.

“Jessica, there are two battleships waiting at the docking facility, right?”

“Yep, Commander.”

“Let’s move both of them to the dock and proceed with the repairs we’ve been postponing.”

“Got it, I’ll contact them right away.”

And following my orders, after watching the two battleships at the command center being naturally towed by dozens of shuttles acting as tugboats towards the large ship dock.

I sat down at the command seat and decided to check the newly appeared ‘Base Level 8 Upgrade Menu’ that came up with the completion of the Fleet Association’s construction.

And as soon as I saw the menu, I felt a groan escape my lips at the sight of the outrageously high price.

—————————————-

<Base Level 8 Upgrade>

<<<Required Resources: 1,200,000 Minerals, 500,000 Rare Resources>>>

<Upgrade Unlock List>

˪<Additional Docking Facility Unlocked>

˪<Additional Docking Facility Unlocked>

˪<Large Ship Dedicated Shipyard Additional Construction Possible>

˪<Strategic Tactics Research Institute Construction Possible>

˪<Superhuman Soldier Training Facility Construction Possible>

—————————————-

‘Is the price insane?’

While the Level 7 upgrade required 500,000 minerals and about 30,000 rare resources.

Level 8 is demanding over a million minerals alone, and several hundred thousand rare resources on top of that.

Faced with a price beyond imagination, despite having diligently gathered resources.

I immediately asked Jessica, who was waiting beside me, how much resources we currently had, to check if we were short on anything.

And to my question, Jessica nodded confidently and replied.

“We’ve gathered about 1.7 million minerals, and around 900,000 rare resources!”

“But now we need to spend 1.2 million minerals and 500,000 rare resources from that.”

“….”

But upon hearing that the resources we needed to spend right now were more than half of what we had diligently gathered.

Jessica’s expression conveyed to me, ‘You know what happens if you’re caught lying, right?’

Of course, in response to Jessica’s reaction, I quietly grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer to show her the menu.

Upon seeing the price boldly written on the menu, Jessica made the same expression I had just made.

—————————————-

But even so, the set price wasn’t going to decrease or anything.

And since there was nowhere else to spend the resources right now anyway.

I decided to proceed with the Base Level 8 upgrade immediately.

If there’s one thing to be thankful for…

<Base Level 8 Upgrade in Progress...>

<Time Remaining Until Construction Completion: 7 days 1 hour 35 minutes 28 seconds>

—————————————-

While previous levels took nearly a month just for the base’s own upgrade.

This Level 8 is showing a surprisingly conscientious construction time of just about a week.

Of course, considering how the time had been increasing exponentially until now, it’s quite sudden for it to decrease like this.

“By the way, it’s interesting.”

“What is?”

“The Level 8 upgrade…”

“Wow, it’s been stretching out all this time, but suddenly it shrinks only here, huh?”

“Ah… that thing.”

Jessica looked quite puzzled, and I shrugged my shoulders, speaking calmly.

“Well, there’s nothing particularly outstanding or important in the 8th stage, so that’s why.”

“Oh, really?”

“Besides the basic docking facilities and the addition of a Large Ship Dedicated Shipyard over there, the rest is just kind of vague.”

Originally, the 8th level base upgrade was, to put it bluntly, about preparing for the next upgrade, which would bring out various high-end ships, including the ‘Dreadnought-Class.’

These ships consume a lot of Fleet Points, so before that, it serves as a kind of rest stop to lightly increase Fleet Points.

Of course, as always, I found it too bothersome to explain all this in detail.

So, instead of explaining it all to Jessica directly, I naturally opened the gallery wiki tab and decided to show her.

“Here, everything you need to know is inside.”

“Ah, okay…”

Title: Introduction to Base Level 8 Upgrade.txt

Author: Wiki Officer mk-40

Content: [Thumbs-up toad image]

First of all, those who have built Level 8 in the original game or users who are building it now probably know this, but in our base, the Level 8 upgrade is quite different from other upgrade stages in terms of performance.

First off, the Level 8 upgrade is terrifying because the mineral prices skyrocket more than double, and rare resources suddenly require 15 times more, giving a big slap to those who didn’t prepare in advance.

But as if Level 8 isn’t completely heartless, the construction time is drastically reduced.

The previous stage took 25 days and several hours, but Level 8 suddenly reduces it to about a week.

But this is really unavoidable because, except for one resource storage warehouse and a bunch more docking facilities, and the addition of one Large Ship Dock, the performance of the rest of the new additional buildings is really crappy.

There are only two new buildings.

One is the Strategic Tactics Research Institute, which gives minor buffs to the fleet when built.

But the level of buff is only about 1-2 levels higher, so unless it’s a battle between top-tier players where even the smallest difference matters, it’s not very significant.

The other is the Superhuman Soldier Training Center.

Here, you don’t get SSS-tier superhumans popping out; on average, you get D-, and if you’re lucky, C-tier superhumans.

The ones that come out from gacha get stronger with leveling, but these guys are treated as ‘regular soldiers’ with no leveling whatsoever.

To be blunt, they’re just slightly stronger assault infantry or special forces that you can recruit from each faction’s dispatch team.

Moreover, while the base itself levels up faster, the rest of those new additional buildings take even longer.

And they consume a ton of resources.

It’s just that Level 8 as a whole is so crappy in performance.

Probably, those who reach Level 8 will soon think, “What the hell, is this all we get for just reducing the base level time?”

Comments:

– [Wow, really?]

– [That’s true, I’m currently working on Level 8, and the resources are so damn precious.]

– [It’s unavoidable, Level 8 is just a preparation process for the next stage.]

– [In terms of setting, it’s about strengthening soldiers to protect the interior of Dreadnoughts and other high-end ships, and ship command.]

– [Because of the avant-garde setting, whether you like it or not, there’s no answer.]

– [Now that they’ve kidnapped us, can’t they just drop the avant-garde setting?]

– [But it’s because it’s avant-garde that they do it…]

—————————————–

As per the wiki tab, the Level 8 base is a stage that symbolizes sheer crappiness.

But since there’s nothing we can do about it.

While the resources are being sucked dry, and the Level 5 stronghold can serve as a ‘solid defense wall.’

We decided to just keep building it stubbornly.
