Chapter 282

Professors tend to classify academy students into five categories.

Hardworking genius. Lazy genius. Hardworking fool. Lazy fool.

And finally, the erratic type. Out of these, the erratic type is the biggest headache.

The geniuses usually do things on their own if left alone, so there’s no need to poke them. Plus, they often humble themselves.

On the other hand, fools have an absurdly strong sense of pride, often questioning why they are called academy students.

Sometimes, a really stupid one surpasses the fools, but those types are mostly expelled.

And the erratic type is just that—erratic. They seem like a genius but do foolish things.

The moment they feel they can control themselves, they cause a significant mess, and when they try to rein it in, they become well behaved.

You could say they’re cunning, but that’s not entirely true. They often act without malice.

Sivar fits right into this category. Not a genius nor a fool, just a student causing chaos.

It’s clear that he’s a genius, but he pulls off foolish stunts, and calling him a fool seems too far-fetched given how smart he is.

He even understands when he messes up. Yet, he continues to cause accidents.

It’s a magical phenomenon where I can’t quite hate him, and it somehow feels like the professors’ fault when he causes a mess.

Moreover, he behaves well in class, making him a well-regarded student in the eyes of the professors.

“Hey, check this out.”

“What is it?”

“It’s something Elvin wrote. Looks very standard, might do well.”

The long-awaited day of the final exam finally arrived.

Professors exchanged brief comments as they reviewed the theories submitted by the students.

As I mentioned earlier, the theories were diverse, allowing them to categorize geniuses and fools to some extent.

The exceptionally outstanding geniuses operate under the philosophy of just getting things done, while fools are close to claiming, “What kind of nonsense is this?”

From the professors’ perspectives, grading these students was quite easy. They could simply give them low scores and then assess how the practicals went.

“Just like Kara, this is written excellently. This might be the highest score.”

Godin smiled contentedly as he presented Kara’s work to the professors.

The other professors also took their time to review her theory, nodding in agreement, indicating that they shared Godin’s opinion.

“Definitely. I wonder if it’s because she’s from the Tartar ethnicity, but her theory is closer to a soldier than a student.”

“It seems to be the best in terms of efficiency. It minimizes harm to the greatest extent.”

“With her being a natural genius and experienced, it’ll be hard for others to keep up with her theory.”

Even in a place full of geniuses, Kara’s theory stood out prominently.

She cut out all the unnecessary fluff and maximized her approach. The most ideal theory.

Of course, theory and practice are different. At that moment, Kara entered the examination ground.

The professors began to alternate between assessing the captured image of Kara and her theory.

Clang! Crack!

Kara’s breakthrough method was incredibly straightforward. She excluded as many variables as possible and executed everything she could.

It was the utmost efficient and safest method. Just typical Kara style.

The professors nodded as they watched her practicals. Flawless, with no room for critique.

“Evaluating the ability to think on her feet will be difficult.”

“Still, they should give her a high score. It implies thorough consideration.”

Yeo Nhwa commented, and Sara countered. There’s a saying in this world.

If someone does something easily, then that person is truly good at it.

To the naked eye, it might seem like Kara is just breezing through, but she’s exceptionally skilled.

Soon, as Kara passed all the challenges, the professors began scoring her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a perfect score.

“You hesitated here for a moment?”

“Yes, it seems I didn’t check thoroughly.”

“You could have had a stalactite lodged in your head.”

No matter how capable Kara is, she couldn’t entirely eliminate the variables. There was one trap falling from above.

Although she coped with that trap using her exceptional improvisation, it became clear that her plan had gone awry from that point.

Still, among all the students who took the exam so far, she was at the top. Outstanding with no flaws.

“Next up…”

“It’s Luna.”

The next most anticipated student after Kara. The professors began reviewing Luna’s theory paper.

[Sorry, I can’t write well, so I’ll perform in practice.]

“…..”

“…..”

“…..”

The moment they laid eyes on Luna’s theory, the professors were left speechless.

Occasionally, students like this pop up—fantastic in practicals but highly lacking in theory.

In reality, it’s ambiguous to even say the theory is lacking; simply put, they can’t write well.

They understand everything in their head but can’t explain it to others, usually falling into the “genius” category.

“…. How have Luna’s grades been lately?”

“Pretty much average. Surprisingly, she has many weaknesses in writing.”

“Her skills are advancing steadily, though.”

Luna, who was the top of her class upon admission, has consistently been on an upward trajectory.

Excluding Kara, who is a seasoned warrior, and Sivar, who is the epitome of the erratic type, she stands out distinctly.

Her ability to think on her feet isn’t too shabby either, leaving no choice but to give her good scores, even though this final exam feels off.

Whoosh! Rustle!

Once the exam began, Luna swiftly maneuvered through the challenges.

She deftly cut or dodged all projectiles aimed at her with her sword.

Her exceptional “dynamic vision” allowed her to make instantaneous judgments, which was her greatest asset.

“I guess she wasn’t just talking when she said she’d show it through practice.”

“Still, the score… well, it can’t be helped, can it?”

“There were simply too many variables for it to be a pure performance.”

The final exam may seem easy at a glance, but it’s quite tough. First, as I’ve mentioned repeatedly, the variables are overwhelming.

With so many variables, it’s very challenging to formulate theories, and even if you do, they can never be perfect.

Unforeseen incidents disrupt the plans frequently; hence, immediate responses are essential.

And that’s the professors’ objective. Regardless of low scores, most exams aren’t absolute assessments but relative ones.

As Luna passed all the challenges, the professors scored her. Due to her theory, it seems she may not rank high.

“Next up… Sivar.”

“Here comes trouble.”

Following Luna is Sivar. The professors wore expressions indicating that trouble had arrived.

Sivar is neither a genius nor a fool but erratic. A genius, sure, but he often does foolish things.

His body is so capable that he neglects his brain. However, lately, he’s also been using his brain, making his erratic behaviors even more pronounced.

“Huh? But why is Karas up next…?”

“What?”

Malboro exclaimed, startle by Godin’s words as he looked at the screen.

As Godin noted, it was Karas stepping in, not Sivar. The order was apparently fixed, which made it odd.

“Could it be that Karas is executing Sivar’s theory?”

“Oh please, that can’t be right…”

[Sivar’s theory, I’ll execute it instead.]

Just as Malboro was about to dismiss it as nonsense, Karas confidently stated in his typical enigmatic tone. The professors could only stand agog.

If it were Sivar having someone execute his theory, that’d be one thing, but a different person executing Sivar’s theory?

Especially when that individual is Karas. It seemed to fall along some parallel line but was oddly similar.

“…Will this be okay?”

“If he’s saying he can do it, then he must be confident. Let’s check his theory first.”

Although uneasy, they decided to look at the theory first as the exam proceeded.

[As soon as it starts, I’ll assassinate the enemies standing guard in front of me with my sword.]

Rustle!

Karas followed the first line exactly as others did.

In front of the cave entrance, a dummy was on guard duty, and most started with an assassination.

But the real issue begins after that. While it’s fine to start with an assassination, the sequence from there is bound to lead to detection.

[After eliminating them with assassination, pick up the oil bottle on the ground. Then throw a torch to draw attention.]

Clang! Whoosh!

Karas acted on the command precisely, igniting a massive fire against the wall where the torch was placed.

Due to the sudden blaze, the eyes of the dummies couldn’t help but turn in that direction. Thus, it all began earnestly.

[While their gaze is diverted, the crossbowman in front will see me. When he shoots, simply dodge to the side.]

[Remove the thrower above on the right with an axe toss. After dealing with him, leap to the position where the thrower was. He’ll likely have multiple oil bottles.]

[Throw three oil bottles at each position. They’ll slip due to the shock from the glass and the oil.]

Karas was executing that ridiculous theory flawlessly. There wasn’t a single flaw in his execution.

Which is what made it even more absurd. After all that effort to create variables, he turned them against us instead.

For the professors, it was astonishing enough that they couldn’t begin to fathom this concept.

[From the box ahead, a sticky poison bottle will emerge. I will toss this poison bottle at the crossbowmen above.]

“No, why is he still throwing things?”

“But he’s really doing everything as instructed, though?”

The theory was nonsensical, but even more absurd was Karas directly adhering to the instructions.

He must not have practiced separately, yet he was smoothly carrying things out. Plus, he’s the prince of a country.

While he must have honed his baseline skills, it’s reasonable his performance would naturally be slightly inferior to others.

Nonetheless, the fact he’s carrying it out without a hitch means only one thing: His theory is flawless.

[At this point, the crossbowman on the cliff will shoot at me. I will use the fallen dummy as an excellent shield.]

[By the way, I’ll ignore the crossbowman on the cliff. He’ll faint from the smoke released earlier from the poison bottle.]

Thud—

Incredibly, the smoke that had seeped from the previously thrown poison tripped the dummy. The professors could only stare in shock at this spectacle.

The crossbowman on the cliff was originally designed to be undetectable unless one used some throwing ability.

However, Sivar had adeptly neutralized it with a previously thrown poison bottle, and that too with timed attacks.

[Finally, the sword-wielding dummies will come rushing from behind, but I can just watch them because they’ll slip on the oil I sprinkled earlier.]

Thud!

In reality, the dummies slipped on the oil spread on the ground. Karas merely glanced at them as he passed by.

[To finish, I will take the torch from the wall and throw it behind me, and then the cave will be engulfed in flames.]

Whoosh!!

[How was that? Pretty easy, right?]

With that extravagant finale, the cave was ignited and started to burn black all around.

The professors were left utterly aghast at the efficiency of the seemingly flawless execution of theory.

“Um… everyone?”

“…..”

“…..”

“…..”

“The examination ground is on fire…”

“O-Oh?”

“Oh no!! Put it out immediately! Why isn’t the digestion magic activating?!”

“It’s broken due to the oil bottles tossed earlier! Get our people in here now!”

Once again, Sivar had caused a significant commotion.

Though it wasn’t technically Sivar, but Karas, causing the stir was still the same.

“So, how’s that for you?”

“No, this doesn’t make sense…”

“Kara, you’ve got to keep your promise. Are you really not going to?”

Regardless of that, Sivar was too busy pressuring Karas.
