Chapter 47 Dressing Up – Part 1

After reaching an agreement on the matter, Victoria and the nobles discussed some of the finer details. Those who had questions were given reasonable solutions by her. Sometimes, I could hear from their words that many of these nobles represented powerful factions that had deep-seated grievances with the Clive family. The general goal was the same; we only needed to discuss how resources would be distributed and how exactly to implement the plan.

This left me out of the loop. So, when Victoria wasn’t looking, I stealthily pulled the plate of cake back in front of me and happily continued eating.

The discussion soon came to an end. The nobles gradually left the room and returned to the banquet hall.

“Haha!”

As he was leaving, the old knight laughed particularly joyfully.

“Old man, I’m going to drink! Tonight is so much fun, I must drink until the sky turns upside down! Her Majesty cannot let anyone report me… Oh, the delicious roast goose at the palace, I can’t wait to eat it…”

As soon as he stepped out, Victoria turned to Racket with a blank expression and said, “Pass on what he just said to the garrison at the square.”

Entering the long corridor, I realized that this place was not a sealed room. The imposing corridor was interconnected in all directions, seemingly leading to various parts of the palace. The hollow design allowed me to see the beautiful garden on the left side of the corridor.

The sky had darkened. The clouds were heavy, and light rain fell continuously, but there were still gardeners working in the green flower beds amidst the rain.

Victoria brought me to the end of the long corridor and stopped in front of a wooden door. The old steward standing at the door respectfully opened it for us. Upon entering, we found ourselves in what looked like a cloakroom. Ancient-looking wardrobes were lined up, several large mirrors stood on the other side of the wall, the dressing table was exquisitely luxurious, and there was a rack filled with jewelry and accessories.

A girl dressed as a maid stood in a row next to the wardrobe, lowering her head.

“What are we doing here?”

“Changing your clothes.”

“Changing clothes?”

I felt puzzled and looked up to meet Victoria’s indifferent gaze.

“Otherwise, do you want to attend the banquet dressed like this?”

Uh…

I lowered my head and looked at the thin dress I was wearing. The dress was plain in color, with patterns I favored embroidered on the hem.

It’s quite pretty? Why change…

This thought vanished in the next second.

As the maids opened the rows of wardrobes, countless dazzling evening gowns came into view, shimmering under the candlelight, and I couldn’t tear my eyes away.

“Wow!”

I couldn’t help but exclaim.

“How beautiful!”

So many beautiful dresses!

My heart blossomed with joy instantly, and I ran over happily.

This place was like a world fashion exhibition, featuring every style of evening gown. Each one was more beautiful than the last, making me feel itchy all over. I touched this and looked at that, comparing them with my simple dress, and immediately felt like a country bumpkin who had never seen the world.

Just put any one of these on me, and it would surely be stunning…

I was already eager to try, but soon discovered a disappointing fact: these evening gowns were too big for me; they were clearly Victoria’s size, and I couldn’t wear them…

“Do you like the evening gowns?” she asked.

Why would there be an evening gown that fits me so well in the palace? Did Victoria prepare it for me in advance? But she didn’t need to prepare so many, did she?

And when did she, and how did she know my measurements…

Gazing at the mirror for a moment, a sweet smile curled at the corners of my lips.

Forget it! It’s not important.

Anyway, the dress is so beautiful, I like it.

“Are you done?”

A voice as clear as water sounded from behind.

“Come here for me to see.”

I turned my head toward the sound and saw an ethereal beauty.

Victoria looked like a fairy who should not exist in this world.

She had changed into a white flowing dress with a luxurious skirt, the fabric of the dress swirling like waves in the wind, resembling snow clouds gathering together. Her graceful figure floated towards me, the hem of the dress dancing with each step, like a dreamlike scene.

So beautiful…

As beautiful as a snow lotus.

I was a bit stunned. In both my past and present lives, I had never seen a woman so beautiful.
