“The real show is about to begin.”
“Your Highness, you must know that Lynn and that arrogant guy have a really tense relationship. Why are you putting them together?”
In the study, Afia, transformed into a black cat, lay on Ivyst’s desk, asking curiously.
During the meal earlier, she felt several times that Lynn wanted to greet her.
But remembering their previous unpleasantness, Afia was quite annoyed and ignored him.
However, after breakfast, she ran to Ivyst to voice her concerns.
Ivyst was reviewing documents and casually replied, “Do you think I’m favoring Rhine?”
“Aren’t you?”
Afia was a bit puzzled, licking her smooth fur with her tongue.
“You’re overthinking it.” Ivyst shook her head. “What you should be worried about isn’t his safety, but rather how badly Rhine will get messed up later.”
She didn’t set this up for Rhine; it was just to let Lynn vent some frustration.
After all, that night, Lynn got beat up badly by Rhine, and judging by how he acted at the dining table, he was likely still upset.
So Ivyst decided to give Lynn this chance to let off some steam, a little consolation for him.
As for what she just had Greya do, that was just a ruse.
She was curious to see how Lynn would handle the placement of over three hundred civilians.
But to avoid drawing too much attention from her subordinates regarding her concern for him, she subtly passed the responsibility to Greya.
While pondering these thoughts, Ivyst reached out and gently scratched Afia’s chin.
The little black cat couldn’t help but squint her eyes, purring happily.
After leaving the dining room, Lynn was led back to the underground passage by Rhine.
Compared to the entire underground facility, the prison area was just a tiny section.
As they traversed the maze-like underground passage, the surroundings quickly opened up.
Since it was daytime, there weren’t many people stationed in the underground facility.
Even so, they still had to go through multiple checks, being searched thoroughly.
They even shone lanterns that could reveal transformation effects to make sure no one was impersonating them.
Lynn looked up to find himself facing a deep corridor leading who-knows-where.
The corridor was quite narrow, and strange sounds echoed in the air.
Sometimes it sounded like someone scratching a door with their nails, other times like the sloshing of slimes, and occasionally even a low growl from some non-human creature.
Combined with the dim lighting, the atmosphere felt particularly eerie.
Just being here was enough to completely drain one’s sanity.
That’s why the guards here were regularly rotated and had to undergo daily psychological evaluations.
This was to ensure they wouldn’t be infected by those bizarre cursed forces.
In the past, the entire estate, and even all of Orlen City, were helpless against these terrifying things.
Fortunately, with the help of Her Highness the Princess, they gradually figured out how to contain these entities.
In simple terms, those that could be fully utilized by humans and posed little or no danger were generally called remarkable items.
On the other hand, those that were extremely dangerous and could lead to casualties or disasters with just a bit of carelessness were classified as ancient cursed objects.
Most remarkable items were made by humans.
Small items like freezing bullets and magic stones counted, as did large things like steam trains and armored ships.
Ancient cursed objects, on the other hand, had mysterious origins, with some even possessing a sense of autonomy.
However, as long as the patterns were mastered and a certain price was paid within expectations, ancient cursed objects often provided unimaginable assistance to their users.
Feeling the eerie and dark environment around him, Lynn remained silent.
Clearly, he was of the mentally strong type.
After all, he was the kind of man who could endure for half a month without crumbling under the mental pollution from the system.
Even though they both walked in silence, Rhine eventually spoke. “Go straight, turn left, the weaponry room is in the room at the end of the corridor. You can choose a self-defense weapon, and if it’s a firearm, you can also get some remarkable bullets as a backup.”
Seeing his seemingly kind demeanor, Lynn expressed his gratitude.
“Thanks, you gay young master.” He said with a moved expression, “I didn’t expect you to be so enthusiastic. How about this, from now on, I won’t call you gay in front of others, of course, if you want me to call you gay, I’ll still call you that, but personally, I prefer—”
“Shut up!”
As soon as he mentioned that word, Rhine looked like he’d just eaten a dead fly, completely disgusted.
He shot Lynn a cold glare and left without looking back.
Watching his frustrated back, Lynn pondered.
Lynn could guess Ivyst’s reason for sending this guy to lead him to the cellar, so he didn’t refuse.
For someone like Rhine, if he didn’t completely crush him, he’d only come back to annoy him more often.
Moreover, in Lynn’s eyes, the guy was just a clown.
So even though Lynn knew this dude had no good intentions, he followed along anyway.
Because he honestly didn’t take it to heart.
No one in this world could make Lynn eat dirt, except for that nasty woman.
Lynn thought silently.
In the next moment, he followed Rhine’s instructions and walked deeper into the corridor.
Sure enough, this guy was way too arrogant.
Gazing at Lynn’s steps and his fearless curiosity, Rhine sneered.
At that moment, he was in a small resting room, with an ancient-looking mirror on the table before him.
But this was no ordinary mirror.
At that very moment, a swirling cloud-like mass of particles in the center formed an image of the cellar’s situation on the mirror’s surface.
Seeing Lynn walk in without any suspicion, Rhine’s heart completely relaxed.
Clearly, he had followed his instructions and arrived at that room.
“Your smile is really disgusting.”
Suddenly, a mocking laugh echoed in the room.
Rhine instinctively looked up to find a petite figure had appeared across the table at some point.
She wore a slightly oversized white lab coat, and her signature messy brown short hair added to the effect.
“Milani? Why are you here?”
Rhine frowned, a bit displeased.
“I met Lady Milani on the way and invited her to come along.”
From the shadows, the Shadow Man Morris slowly emerged from the wall.
Next to him, Milani yawned and casually said, “This kid is my precious experiment, so don’t mess him up.”
Rhine scoffed, “Are you here to mess with me?”
“No, I’m here to observe.” Morris glanced at him. “I just felt like something interesting is about to happen, so I came.”
Milani remained indifferent: “I’m just here to check if this kid can really assist His Highness.”
“Hmph, then go stand in the corner and don’t disturb me!”
Rhine waved his hand impatiently.
Then he turned his gaze back to the mirror.
Looking at Lynn, who stood bewildered in the room, he wore an expression of delight.
The show is about to start!
Rest assured about the plot; the male lead will mostly stumble at the beginning, and later he will rise up.
