“Ugh, infuriating!!!”
After the apple was removed from its mouth, the black goat spat out the sauce in its mouth and roared furiously inside Leon’s soul:
“Our esteemed demon, a Great Demon! That so-called Wilde actually dared to do this to me? Don’t hold me back! Later, once I’m out of here, I’ll tear him apart alive!”
Ah yeah, yeah, you little 8-point trash, dismantling someone who’s 16-point strong is just too easy.
Too lazy to deal with the black goat’s impotent rage, Leon grabbed its horns that were shaped like two buns, tossed it onto an empty plate used for collecting garbage, then started eating other side dishes on the plate while observing the lip movements of the male and female protagonists chatting far away, carefully distinguishing their conversation.
According to the plot summary the princess told him, Elijah, the male protagonist, originally only resisted a loveless marriage and came to this small town to relax.
However, after being attracted by Agatha’s cheerful and outgoing personality and endless vitality at the tavern, he invited her to show him around the small town. Their hearts grew closer over eleven days of touring, and as Agatha was captured and they met again at the wedding, they became partners.
After reviewing the plot in his mind, Leon’s eyes flashed with a hint of contemplation.
So the question is, even if Agatha isn’t really a waitress but just working here, there aren’t any other waiters in this tavern, and she took over ten days off—didn’t the boss care?
Also, judging from the content of the conversations between the male and female protagonists, although they both had a bit of a love-addled brain and valued love and freedom above all else, they weren’t the type of frivolous personalities.
With a pre-existing engagement, Elijah wouldn’t invite a beautiful stranger to tour the small town without thinking about whether to elope. And Agatha, the female protagonist, was also quite “reserved” in character; typically, she wouldn’t agree to such an intimate invitation from a strange man for an eleven-day tour.
So something must have happened in the first scene of the tavern that quickly brought them closer, not necessarily making them recognize each other, but at least allowing them to establish preliminary trust and develop feelings for each other.
After deducing the possible attitude changes in the first scene, Leon glanced around at the conditions and states of the guests in the tavern, forming some guesses about what would happen next.
The most likely scenario was that there was trouble in the tavern, and the male protagonist tried to help Agatha but still caused her to lose her job, so he invited her to be a guide as a form of economic compensation.
And because of the male protagonist’s righteous words or something, Agatha developed trust and closeness towards him. Since she planned to leave in two weeks anyway, she went along with the flow and accepted the job as a guide, which made everything reasonable.
As for the source of the trouble…
…
“Nonsense! My alcohol tolerance is great!”
Among the thoughtful gazes of Leon, beside the male and female protagonists discussing poetry, a table of guests who were red-faced from drinking finally started causing a commotion.
A sailor, red-faced from drinking, rolled up his sleeves and slammed a fist on the tavern’s broken wooden table, arguing with a flaring nose and glaring eyes: “I can drink at least five more rounds! You two will fall over before I do!”
“Stop bullshitting!”
Two sailors sitting opposite laughed and scolded: “Drink five more? With how wobbly you are, you’ll pass out after two more!”
“Haha, not wrong. If he drinks five more, he’ll definitely end up flat on the ground!”
“Bullshit!”
After being mercilessly mocked by his two companions, the already unsteady sailor got angry instantly, standing up abruptly and shouting loudly: “If I lie down, I’ll be your son! This amount of alcohol today is just a fraction of what I usually drink!”
“Alright, alright, we believe you, we believe you could drink an entire barrel dry!”
“Haha, right, right, you’re a big drinker. Your swaying today is from the sea breeze, not the alcohol!”
“I… I’m telling the truth! If I lied, I’m a dog!”
After being teased again, the slightly embarrassed drunkard looked around, then suddenly grabbed ‘Agatha’s’ arm and pulled her over forcefully, drunkenly demanding:
“A… Aga… whatever! You’re the waitress here, tell them how much I usually drink when I come here!”
Just as they were having a good chat, suddenly being dragged over startled Agatha.
But either due to her nature or the influence of the princess, as the female protagonist, she quickly calmed down and replied gently:
“Guest, you’re a bit drunk. Why don’t you…”
“Haha, did you hear that? She said you’re drunk!”
“Still looking for witnesses? Anyone can see you’re done. What’s with the bravado?”
Agatha’s response might have been fine under normal circumstances, but for the burly man arguing about his drinking capacity, it was like adding fuel to the fire.
Hearing his two companions burst into laughter, the alcohol-fueled man’s eyes turned bloodshot immediately. He grabbed Agatha’s shoulders with both hands and glared at her with bloodshot eyes, angrily shouting: “I’m not drunk! You little woman…”
“Let go!”
At that moment, Leon felt a sudden tug on the silk threads attached to his body, pulling him directly up from his seat. With a face full of anger, he shouted loudly: “Release her! Do not harass my Agatha!”
Hmm? Isn’t this my line? Shouldn’t the male protagonist be stepping in to help now?
“Ah!”
Accompanied by the scream of “Mr. Joseph” who narrowly avoided getting hit by a wine bottle, the thick neck of the drunken brute twisted around, glaring and cursing: “Pretty boy, get lost! I’m asking this girl something, what’s it to you? Just keep your balls tucked tight! Speak again and I’ll beat you!”
Under the control of the silk threads, the “justice warrior” “Mr. Joseph,” who had just acted heroically, actually followed the other’s demand, sitting back down pale-faced and trembling, his legs tightly squeezed together.
I get it… Adding this unexpected turn is to highlight the male protagonist’s rare courage through my retreat, right?
In Leon’s somewhat annoyed gaze, the drunken brute turned back around, ready to continue, but saw a guest from the nearby table stand up, arms crossed, and asked disdainfully:
“Are you guys from the merchant ship ‘Seagull’?”
“So what if we are?”
Seeing someone else step forward, the drunken brute pointed at him irritably:
“I didn’t say anything to you, right? Mind your own business or else… Hey!”
He was furious to find his hand slapped away. Just as he was about to punch the guy in drunken rage, he saw the handsome man frowning and saying:
No mistake, one after another, content within, check it out at 69 Book Bar!
“I’m close friends with the Seagull’s First Mate. If you cause trouble here, I will certainly report today’s events to him verbatim!”
“Ho ho, threatening my old man with him?”
The drunken brute seemed enraged, staggering over, his face full of ill intent: “What about the First Mate? Can the First Mate stop me from drinking… ah!!”
In everyone’s stunned gaze, the tip of a shiny leather shoe padded with fake heels appeared between the drunken brute’s legs… or put another way, the flashy-dressed young man who was scared stiff earlier somehow sneaked over and kicked the drunken brute right where the sun doesn’t shine.
“Run!”
Taking advantage of everyone’s shock, Leon, whose silk threads had been cut off and rushed over, completed the secret egg-crushing kick passed down by the female police officer, then directly scooped up “Agatha” horizontally and bolted toward the door amid her screams.
Even crazier was that before running, he didn’t forget to kick over the table, dumping all the leftover food on the companions of the drunken brute. Before the three suddenly attacked could react, he zigzagged away and disappeared into the distance.
“…”
Watching the beauty depart, the male protagonist, who was about to continue arguing, couldn’t help but look bewildered.
“…”
Looking at the sudden escalation of the plot below, the “King of Drama” holding the silk threads instantly looked utterly confused.
“There’s still one left!”
“Beat him!”
In a speechless silence, the three sailors who suffered losses reacted first. Knowing they were drunk and couldn’t possibly catch the pair outside, they clenched their teeth and surrounded Elijah who was left behind, preparing to vent their anger on him.
“Wait… wait! You can’t hit me!”
Realizing the situation wasn’t good, the male protagonist no longer cared about hiding his identity and blurted out pale-faced:
“I am a guest on the Seagull and also…”
“Clang!”
Just as Elijah was about to reveal his identity to see if he could avoid the beating, there was a sound of a door opening behind him. The pretty-boy who ran off with Agatha actually kicked the door open and charged back in!
Amidst the stunned expressions of several people, Leon, dressed like a colorblind pheasant, rushed to the counter, grabbing the dog lying there, then ran to his previous seat and snatched the unfinished “dish” along with the plate, and finally leaped out the window cleanly and neatly, disappearing again at the street corner.
“…”
The three muscular men were completely dumbfounded.
“…”
The “Drama Master” holding the strings began gritting his teeth.
“…”
As for Elijah surrounded by the three drunkards, he directly revealed an expression worse than crying.
Not cool, you came back not only taking the dog but even the uneaten dishes on the table… what about me? I’m a living person here, can you at least save me?!
