Chapter 25: Tianhai Tower
Actually, Bai Ling’s breakfast-buying experience wasn’t as arduous as Gu Hui made it out to be.
The breakfast was indeed bought from the cafeteria, but there was no need to queue. No special abilities were used; the students in front saw her and kindly moved aside.
As for the strawberry juice, she didn’t even have to leave campus—the fruit shop owner personally delivered it… though this did require a bit of mental suggestion ability.
In short, it was pretty easy, just something done on a whim.
At that moment, Bai Ling noticed Yuan Xiaoling turning around, looking at her cautiously and nervously.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing, I just feel like you’re suddenly being too nice to me,” the Blonde-haired Maiden said suspiciously, “Is something going to happen tonight…?”
“Nope,” Bai Ling replied with a gentle smile, “It depends on my mood.”
When the mood strikes, it’s go time without any prep.
Yuan Xiaoling frowned her pretty little face, thinking that it might actually be worse this way.
“Let’s go if we’re done eating,” Gu Hui said at this point, “It’s not good to be late.”
Part-time jobs are work, not play.
“I’ll change clothes.”
After returning to school, Yuan Xiaoling found many outfits in her wardrobe. For this outing, she picked a relatively innocent-looking school-style set—a uniform white blouse and a skirt.
But after putting it on—
“You’re so lewd,” Gu Hui commented, “The collar looks like it’s about to pop open.”
Yuan Xiaoling stiffened her small face.
Wait, she thought the outfit looked pure when it was hanging on the hanger. Why does it look different on her?
Meh, let’s just go with this. JK style is always like this. Changing into something else might make it even worse.
Bai Ling’s outfit was simple—black hoodie, gray ultra-short pants, and a pair of black thigh-high stockings.
Overall, it looked clean and straightforward. She stood there, exuding an elegant aura, quite attractive.
“Are you ready? If so, let’s go quickly,” Qiao Lili said while holding her mobile phone, “I’ve already called a Didi, and the driver will be here soon.”
Tianhai Tower was located in the city center, nearly six kilometers away from Tianhai University. The closer they got to the city center, the more traffic there was, and it took them forty minutes to arrive.
As a landmark building in Tianhai City, Tianhai Tower stood in one of the most bustling areas, a skyscraper over fifty stories tall standing tall amidst the commercial street, like a sprout rising from dry land.
“Which way do we go up?” Yuan Xiaoling looked at Bai Ling beside her.
“What are you looking at me for?” Bai Ling questioned.
“I’m asking which way we should go up, don’t you know?”
“Why would I know?”
Yuan Xiaoling pouted, thinking, “Don’t tell me you don’t remember because you’ve been reborn?”
But Bai Ling truly didn’t know, because by the time she started gaining prominence in her previous life, this building had already collapsed.
Fortunately, at this moment, Qiao Lili stepped forward: “I found the route map online. Let’s take the elevator from here.”
The internship company was on the 20th floor, and its interior decoration was quite luxurious. After explaining their purpose to the staff inside, a young man came out to greet them.
“You must be the broadcasting department students from Tianhai University, right? I see. Please come this way.”
He quickly glanced over these girls, his eyes lighting up when he saw Yuan Xiaoling.
“Let’s try out the recording studio.”
Surprisingly, although Yunhai Game Company was newly established and hadn’t released any official works yet, their office area was well-equipped, including a large recording studio.
However, the equipment inside was brand new, possibly unused before, and the staff spent a long time adjusting it.
During this period, the supervisor stood next to Yuan Xiaoling, enthusiastically introducing their game—how it was made, how good it was, how promising the future would be, how she would become famous as the character CV…
Yuan Xiaoling completely ignored his pitch and instead quietly observed Bai Ling, waiting for the moment she couldn’t resist intervening.
Fortunately, the equipment was finally adjusted.
Gu Hui and Qiao Lili seriously read a few lines with an intern attitude. When it was Yuan Xiaoling’s turn, she carelessly mumbled through it.
She wasn’t serious, and since she hadn’t really learned, it wasn’t professional.
“Great! Absolutely fantastic!”
As soon as Yuan Xiaoling finished, the supervisor immediately chimed in: “Miss Yuan, this role is perfectly suited for you. It’s as if it was tailor-made for you.”
“…heh.”
After the audition, the supervisor eagerly wanted to reach a cooperation agreement with them. Of course, Yuan Xiaoling understood—it was all for her, and the two roommates were just there to mask the real intention.
She originally intended to reject him with some excuse, but Bai Ling quietly whispered to her:
“Just agree.”
It’s only a second audition invitation, not a formal labor contract.
“Alright, then, see you next time,” Yuan Xiaoling said.
“Good, once the next batch of character scripts are ready, I’ll send you… send you all the message immediately,” the supervisor grinned widely, “Take your time leaving.”
As soon as they stepped out of the company, Qiao Lili remarked, “Looks like they aren’t really serious about making games.”
“Indeed, the voice acting part was so casual,” Gu Hui sighed.
Yuan Xiaoling puffed her cheeks cutely, still upset. In the recording studio earlier, whether it was during the wait for adjustments or when she was doing voice acting, people kept glancing at her chest as if it were the Dabeitù speaking.
Bai Ling gently touched the Blonde-haired Maiden’s hand, offering rare comfort.
She really needed to find an opportunity to come back—not only out of curiosity about Tianhai Tower itself, but also because the name Yunhai Company seemed familiar.
Maybe it had something to do with the accident half a year ago.
“Voice acting for five minutes, waiting for adjustments for two hours,” Gu Hui rubbed her stomach, “I’m starving.”
“I know a tofu pudding shop downstairs. The taste is great,” Qiao Lili said, “Perfect for filling our stomachs.”
Then she looked at the White-haired Maiden, “What do you think, Bai Ling?”
“I don’t mind.”
So the group took the elevator down and followed Qiao Lili to the tofu pudding shop.
“This tofu pudding shop has been here since I was a kid. It’s supposed to be a twenty-year-old family business passed down by elders, a true old craft.”
But when they arrived at the store, they saw a very trendy breakfast shop. Not only did they serve tofu pudding, but also various fried snacks.
Bright yellow walls, fast-food restaurant-like decor—it didn’t look like a twenty-year-old artisanal shop at all.
“Maybe it’s been renovated?” Qiao Lili hesitantly said.
When the tofu pudding was served and she took a shallow spoonful, she grimaced, “Alright, confirmed. The owners have changed.”
It wasn’t the same shop anymore.
Yuan Xiaoling poked the scallion pancake on her plate with chopsticks and concluded, “It’s pre-made and reheated.”
Not handmade on-site.
“How did it turn into a regular internet-famous fast food joint? The business isn’t even as good as before,” Qiao Lili complained.
Yeah, why?
Yuan Xiaoling felt Bai Ling nudging her arm, pointing the Blonde-haired Maiden to look at the left wall. There, a sign was posted—Harmony of Sea and Sky, Building a Better Tianhai Together.
At that moment, the sound of a brawl erupted outside.
