Page Ninety-Three Dream Reunion (Middle)
There’s a not-so-cold piece of trivia: because the chest cavity has no room to expand, burying your neck and below in the sand can be very dangerous.
“Huff, I almost couldn’t breathe!”
The master, who was dug out from the sand, squatted on the ground. Her little white robe had turned dirty with fine sand. She patted her chest and gasped for air, saying, “To be choked to death in a dream would really be a joke!”
I snapped my fingers while nibbling on grilled corn and changed her into a backless swimsuit, pure white and unadorned, innocent yet cute.
Though she was the one who changed into the swimsuit, she gave me a sidelong glance and teased, “Oh, so Xiao Kai likes watching loli wear this kind of swimsuit?”
“I thought you couldn’t get out, Master. Can’t you control this dream?”
“If it were your own dream, it wouldn’t matter. This dream exists between you and Qian Xia’s restraint. It’s hard for me to influence this place.”
After resting for a bit, she stood up, dusting off her clothes. Looking at the distant beach where Qian Xia and my mother were playing, her eyes carried a natural emotion.
“Do you bring me here to meet them?”
“Mainly to let Qian Xia see you. Since you don’t treat my mother as a daughter, seeing or not seeing my father doesn’t matter.”
The small loli punched my stomach weakly.
She complained, “Why say such childish things! Ning Ying is my daughter, and I never treated you like an outsider! But there are some things I just can’t handle… I don’t want things to go this far either… I also want to enjoy a happy retirement with my children and grandchildren.”
The master continued to speak, feeling more aggrieved. I interrupted her.
“Let’s not talk about that. Spend more time with your precious granddaughter. My lawless mother hasn’t been caught, so she can’t leave this false dream. It’s hard on her, even if she doesn’t say it… She’s懂事, but that’s not a reason for her to suffer.”
I looked at the beach.
Qian Xia jumped high and grabbed Xiao Lei’s freshly grilled chicken leg, while the latter just smiled bitterly, wiping her hands and continuing to grill another sausage.
“I can’t help much trapped in the temple…”
The master fidgeted beside me, then looked up and said, “Oh, right! Bifang brought something today. After careful examination, I found some issues!”
Thinking of Sister Zi handing the bracelet to Senior Sister for analysis, I asked, “Issues, referring to the bracelet?”
“What I’m about to say might help your search… Hmm?”
Cherry Sauce covered the master’s mouth, then closed her eyes, seemingly listening to something.
“I didn’t sense anything abnormal, but I worry she might have secretly eavesdropped.”
I agreed.
Although she claimed to have important things to do, I felt like Mother was always watching us through various means.
I shook my head and said, “It’s okay. Master, just say what you need to. What’s wrong with that bracelet?”
“The exact principle of the bracelet is unknown. We need to analyze it with another one. However, judging from the techniques on the bracelet and Bei Hai’s body… your mother’s magical skills might surpass mine.”
“Hmm?” Cherry Sauce raised an eyebrow.
This didn’t make sense. I pressed on, “She slept for seventeen years and only recently woke up from the previous Lord Hai’s seal. She should only have inherited Brother Zhu’s erased magical knowledge. How could she possibly be better than you?”
The master shook her head again.
“I don’t know why, but her technique structure is quite novel. Without divine authority, I couldn’t create something so intricate.”
Cherry Sauce offered a guess, “Actually, it’s not impossible. She was taken to the Divine Court by the previous Lord Hai to avoid punishment. During that period, she might have had the chance to learn magic from him.”
I sarcastically commented, “Impossible? Lord Hai wouldn’t do that. Besides, the time before sealing wouldn’t be long. If you’ve studied for years and still haven’t reached that level, how could Mother learn it in such a short time? Unless you’re a poor student and Mother is a genius…”
Cherry Sauce, enraged, kicked sand at me, nearly blinding me.
“Boom!”
I felt something strange.
Opening my eyes, I was now wearing a two-piece swimsuit… Cherry Sauce sure is petty.
“Oh wow! Xiao Kai’s figure is great, huh?”
The master gave me a lecherous look at her grandson.
Lin Hua brought over a tray of barbecue, noticing our swimsuits, and said, “I knew you weren’t coming to play. You were changing swimsuits? I want one too. Make me one!”
I didn’t want to…
But not wanting to dampen Lin Hua’s mood, I gave Cherry Sauce a pleading look…
“Don’t look at me. Picking swimsuits for your girlfriend is your responsibility, boyfriend!”
The master seemed to understand, her small mouth wide open, then quickly closed, smiling.
She reminded, “You two are cousins.”
The master’s unique, stingy personality was annoying. Though she seemed indifferent, she insisted on mentioning it, making the situation awkward. But Lin Hua wasn’t easily embarrassed. She stepped forward, wrapping her arm around mine, and coldly retorted, “Who knows about Kai-chan and the Huangfu family? Even if we did, it’s none of your business.”
Compared to me, Lin Hua called her grandfather casually, but she was always disrespectful to the master.
When Principal Hariluya was mentioned, the master immediately lost her temper, speaking softly.
“I didn’t say I’d oppose… Can you be gentler?”
No one cared what she said anyway.
Though forced by Cherry Sauce to design swimsuits, I had been to an amusement park and knew all kinds of swimsuits. As long as I imagined Lin Hua in a swimsuit and projected it into the dream…
Like this.
“Boom!”
A white smoke exploded around Lin Hua, startling her and nearly dropping the tray.
She wore a two-piece swimsuit with a skirt-like bottom, like a fairy’s dress. The fingerless gloves were meaningless but could provide limited sun protection in reality.
A light, smooth blue scarf wrapped around her neck, gently falling down her flawless back.
Looking down, decorative blue bindings adorned her thighs, shimmering silk catching the light…
“Ah! Stop staring! Pervert!”
Lin Hua, blushing, blocked my view with the tray, then praised, “Kai-chan, designed by Cherry Sauce, I like this swimsuit. I’ll record it and order it when I wake up!”
Not flattery, she genuinely liked it. Maybe I have talent as a fashion designer?
— “Don’t be so conceited. She’s just happy because she likes you! This design is impractical and dangerous. Others swim to avoid seaweed, but you have your own!”
Oh, right.
The non-professional fashion expert, Cherry Sauce, criticized my swimsuit design through telepathy, “Enough about swimsuits. Time’s limited in dreams. Let’s get to the point!”
She was right. We hadn’t discussed the results about the mysterious girl A. Lin Hua blinked, her eyelashes fluttering, asking, “What were you talking about?”
“The master analyzed the mysterious girl A’s technique. She said her magic is advanced, so we were discussing where she learned it.”
After hearing my explanation, Lin Hua crossed her arms and lightly tapped her lower lip.
“Hmm? More advanced than Grandpa? Only the Heavenly Path could have that knowledge, maybe directly implanting it into her mind?”
She proposed a new theory, which I rejected, “That’s not possible. Haven’t they said the Heavenly Path can’t understand human thoughts?”
Cherry Sauce said, “Not exactly. If it’s just knowledge, with divine authority, it can be done.”
“Really?!” I was shocked.
Cherry Sauce shrugged, “Think about Orange. She’s a typical example of direct knowledge transfer. Dog Sister and yesterday’s skunk lady are the same. Otherwise, how could they adapt to human habits and language so quickly?”
“Why didn’t you think of that before?”
“Because magical knowledge is different. Other knowledge is allowed by the Heavenly Path, so there are prepared ‘data packets.'”
What data packets?
Cherry Sauce raised an eyebrow and continued, “But not magical knowledge. It’s a taboo created by ancient deities to recreate the divine era. The Heavenly Path wouldn’t leave easy learning paths.”
In short, learning magic requires starting from scratch like Sister Zi.
“So the question remains… How did she learn…”
“—Eek!!”
A scream came from the barbecue area on the beach.
Looking over, a red object was writhing near the grill, while Qian Xia laughed uncontrollably, rolling on the ground.
“…What’s that?”
Lin Hua narrowed her eyes and confirmed, “That looks like a giant Australian lobster.”
“Why are there Australian lobsters on the beach?”
I looked at Cherry Sauce with confusion.
“Is this a new ingredient?”
Cherry Sauce replied, “Look closely. That lobster is Xiao Lei.”
Only then did I notice it was a lobster costume on the ground, and Xiao Lei, gagged, was thrashing. Was that her final scream?
Mother removed the lobster head and untied the gag.
Gaining freedom, Xiao Lei cursed, “What the hell is this?!”
“Ha ha, red and fiery, confused and dazed!”
A wild, somewhat perverted laugh echoed from somewhere.
If anyone could freely enter the dream, it was the mysterious girl A, holding Qian Xia’s other restraint… our mother.
“Kai-chan! Look up!”
