Chapter 237 Balance at Both Ends Part 18
Tang Guan said Kui Xin was young, yet he himself was young too; the term “older” was merely relative.
Kui Xin was surprised that Tang Guan could actually express such thoughts, but upon deeper reflection, she realized he had always been like this, kind-hearted. If he wasn’t kind, he wouldn’t have passed her information on the Kraken and wouldn’t have come to the perilous place that is Tonglin City.
“Why not your family?” Kui Xin also asked this question.
“If my home, which supports me, is destroyed, then everything else becomes meaningless. Whether I live or not would no longer matter,” Tang Guan laughed and said, “I’ve already prepared myself.”
Tang Guan was always making the worst-case scenarios, ever since being captured and jailed by Mechanized Dawn. Each day was filled with the threat of death. He had long anticipated what his parents would do if he were to die — sometimes feeling relieved that he wasn’t an only child, that he still has a sister, offering them company in the future.
Yet after feeling this relief deeply, a strong sense of guilt welled up, gnawing at his heart, not allowing him peace.
Kui Xin looked at Tang Guan for a long time before nodding gently, “You’re right. Let’s play along, please rely on me.”
“This is something I want to say to you… please rely on me,” Tang Guan said, “whether it’s Remover 777 or the bigger crisis brought about by both worlds, it might depend on you… all of you.”
Kui Xin did not want Tang Guan to sacrifice himself. She had seen too much filth and therefore, pure souls were exceptionally precious, like rare, glowing gemstones hidden in murky ponds. If Tang Guan died, another radiant gemstone would be lost forever.
“Wait, maybe you don’t need to go,” Kui Xin mused for a moment and suddenly had a new idea, “if Remover 777 wants to enter the Dark Realm, let him do so.”
Tang Guan said in surprise, “Are you willing to leave him alone? Treat him as an experiment, observe his changes after entering the Dark Realm?”
Kui Xin solemnly nodded.
“The location of the Dark Realm’s arrival isn’t just Tonglin City, but Remover 777 specifically comes here. He chooses this place,” Kui Xin said, “I suppose for some reason, Tonglin City is a special location for him.”
Tang Guan said, “What if his actions cause negative changes in the Dark Realm…”
“Changes might happen, but they shouldn’t be severe,” Kui Xin said, “my intuition doesn’t warn me… perhaps we can try. To confirm further, we may need to talk with Remover 777.”
“Are you sure he can communicate?” Tang Guan asked.
“He’s not totally insane,” Kui Xin replied.
“You can let me come with you,” Tang Guan said, “combat might be necessary.”
Kui Xin turned and shouted, “Dusk.”
Yu Hansue appeared, and Kui Xin said, “I’ll find Remover 777 now.”
“Now? Sure,” Yu Hansue immediately said, “let’s go.”
“We won’t go together, I’ll find him alone. You stay with Bai Ge for now,” Kui Xin said, “it won’t take long, I’ll be back soon.”
“Then why must it be one person?” Yu Hansue stepped forward anxiously and asked, “If we gather more people…”
“Because if more people are present, Augus won’t reveal secrets. He only cares about the purity of the game, wanting to speak with me one-on-one,” Kui Xin said.
Yu Hansue whispered, “Do you understand his heavy accent in English?”
Kui Xin froze momentarily, “I almost forgot… have him type his words into a translation app, it should work.”
Tang Guan observed Kui Xin with an odd gaze, coughing lightly to suppress his laughter.
Yu Hansue worriedly watched Kui Xin, unsure whether she was concerned about her safety or her ability to understand English.
“I’ll go ahead, don’t worry about me. If there’s any emergency, I’ll notify you. Don’t rush over if I send a signal,” Kui Xin told them before jumping off the roof.
Just before landing, she activated Shadow Transition and landed smoothly, waving at Yu Hansue and Tang Guan, then disappeared into the night.
Yu Hansue muttered, “That was brave.”
Tang Guan nodded slightly in agreement.
Yu Hansue felt she hadn’t been courageous throughout her life; she mostly thought about herself. Had it not been for Kui Xin’s involvement in the Dark Realm mission, she would never have come to Tonglin City. She didn’t seek trouble, unlike Kui Xin, who desired control. But with Kui Xin here, Yu Hansue felt compelled to stay.
“All right, let’s start the perimeter patrol,” Tang Guan said.
“Oh, okay,” Yu Hansue surveyed Tang Guan and agreed to the suggestion.
Kui Xin took out her phone and contacted He Kangshi.
“What’s the situation?”
He Kangshi: “Sent the message as boss instructed, Augus just mentioned waiting for 233 and asks 233 to meet him.”
“Players?”
He Kangshi: “Those who stayed for the night patrol with me are retreating to the outer area. We plan to stay here tonight, ready to confront any xenomorphs if they emerge.”
“We’ll keep alert,” Kui Xin felt relieved.
Next, Kui Xin reached out to Su Rong, “Is she here?”
“She’s arrived, Sister Xinxin. I’m nearby wandering around, should I join you?” Su Rong asked.
Su Rong had resumed classes. Originally, she had evening classes today, but she asked for sick leave early and sent her Shadow Double to the old industrial zone.
“No need, you won’t help much anyway. Conserve your energy,” Kui Xin said.
“Sister Xinxin, I wanted to test if Shadow Double can enter the Dark Realm…” Su Rong said, “Our senses are connected, maybe I can see beyond. If I lose contact with the Shadow Double, I can create a new one.”
This idea had long lingered in Su Rong’s mind, but she hesitated due to danger. The Dark Realm was like a black hole,吞噬继续
