Chapter 231: Cold Silver Axe
“Being a follower is fine, but I’m still a student myself,” Lolan shook her head, though not entirely dismissive.
“These days, we still need to continue tracking that demonic boar. We can have him assist us and guide him during this period.” Although Lolan Hill hasn’t reached Sequence 5, her knowledge base is considered top-notch, integrating the legacy of the Mercury Dynasty and the most advanced theories in Emanas today. With her extraordinary perceptual talent, she could guide ordinary Sequence 5s sufficiently.
According to the descriptions of the lion-man clan, that demonic boar was indeed only at Sequence 4 recently, comparable to the silver wolf in strength. The two often competed for territory. Recently, for some unknown reason, it seemed to undergo a mutation, suddenly advancing and becoming extraordinarily large, completely different from before.
Is it a mutation, evolution, or some kind of encounter?
Lolan Hill couldn’t be certain either. This extraordinary world had too many unusual events happening. As they were talking, Nia approached Lolan.
“Is Lolan going to be a mentor again?” Nia tilted her head curiously. For some reason, despite appearing young, this roommate always managed to make others willingly listen to her suggestions.
“How are you feeling now?” Lolan gestured for Nia to sit beside her as the matches ended and people began dispersing.
“A bit better.”
Nia nodded, then Leiton, the lion-man, walked over and stood slightly in front of the old shaman.
“Leiton, Lady Lolan has agreed to guide you for a while. During this period, assist her in hunting down that demonic boar.”
“Yes, Elder.” Then he turned around, bowed to Lolan Hill, and stood by like a pillar.
The beastmen didn’t quite understand human etiquette. Leiton felt he wasn’t particularly clever and would rather stand quietly and await orders than do unnecessary things that might annoy others.
This approach earned Lolan Hill a slight liking; she also disliked those who flattered excessively and spoke slickly.
—
In the following week, the lion-man clan sent many members to patrol the nearby grasslands, searching for and tracking the demonic boar. Demonic beasts also needed food and couldn’t stay buried underground forever. Any feeding or hunting would leave traces.
Finally, on the fifth day, the lion-man clan discovered the demonic boar’s trail.
On a remote sandy beach, with jagged rocks and beneath a short cliff, there was a deep cave.
“How did you find it?” Nia and Lolan followed the beastman guide through several turns before discovering this hidden corner obscured by natural rocks.
The guide replied that the demonic boar had attacked their flock, swallowing ten sheep in one go. Later, they followed from afar and found this place.
Upon arriving, Lolan Hill had the other beastmen return, leaving Leiton to guard the entrance since his strength was sufficient for self-protection. She then entered the cave with Nia.
A warm yellow fireball rose from Nia’s hand, illuminating the cave interior.
The cave floor was uneven, with many stones and gradually sloping downward.
For the first hundred meters, it was relatively normal, with walls mostly made of soil and stone. After crossing this distance, huge stalactites began appearing overhead. The air became chilly, as if a gentle breeze was passing through.
“It seems this leads to an underground river,” Lolan Hill sensed moisture in the air.
The ground had broken stones and shattered pillars. After walking for a few more minutes, Lolan gestured for Nia to be cautious, and they slowly moved forward. The air grew increasingly stifling.
Carefully avoiding the stones on the ground without making a sound, they approached a massive pit.
Inside the cave, the underground area was roughly the size of a football field. The demonic boar was snoring heavily in its sleep.
The flickering light from the flames within the cracks of its body was visible with each breath. The demonic boar lay on a pile of rocks, the blood hole on its forehead slowly healing, leaving a dark red scab.
Looking at this thick-skinned, enormous demonic boar, Lolan Hill had Nia hide on the side and floated upward toward the demonic boar.
Previous lessons taught Lolan Hill that swift action was necessary; otherwise, if the demonic boar escaped underground again, all efforts would be wasted. This time, she couldn’t hold back.
Nia hid behind a massive stone column, watching the black-haired girl’s dress flutter as she slowly flew forward. Despite the calm airflow, no sound was made until her figure hovered directly above the demonic boar.
Her eyes, once like black crystal, turned crimson, standing out brightly in the darkness. Countless red points began floating above the vast pit.
At first, these crimson magical energies were scattered and silent, like butterflies.
Then, the magical particles increased, forming a red fog ocean that gradually filled the view.
The red fog-like magical energy continuously contracted and condensed, revealing a menacing, murderous giant axe in the air.
The massive axe blade resembled steel, nearly six meters wide, reflecting a silver-red glow like cold iron. Compared to the formidable axe body, the handle was slender, perfectly suited for the black-haired girl’s grip.
From a distance, the dozen-meter-long handle appeared extremely delicate, a deep red color. As the girl gripped the giant axe, the handle subtly rotated, causing a violent whine in the air.
The sleeping demonic boar stirred as soon as the giant axe formed, quickly realizing the familiar and terrifying figure above it.
The soil and rocks beneath trembled, and gaps between the stones on its spine emitted dazzling light like volcanic eruptions.
Seeing the enormous demonic boar about to escape, Lolan Hill hesitated no longer. The massive long axe spun like a windmill, tearing through the air with a shrill cry echoing through the underground cave, stirring up layers of sand and dust, almost obscuring Nia’s view.
At the peak of speed, the cold silver axe descended like a sharp knife, leaving a huge silver-red waterfall on the retina.
Like cutting butter with a hot iron blade, first the thick rock shell, then the hard bones, finally the blood-red flesh and organs.
The demonic boar’s massive head was cleanly severed, spraying blood across the entire pit. The dense, stifling stench of blood filled the cave. The rolling pig’s head spun halfway around, breaking several stone pillars, and was buried under rubble before finally stopping.
Staring at the towering beast coming to an end, Nia stood rooted to the spot, letting the hot blood drip from her body.
“So this is what you meant?”
