Whoosh!
Clang!
Boom!
The sound of a dagger cutting through the wind.
The sound of swords clashing.
Even the sound of a massive rock flying like a cannonball and embedding itself into the ground.
The open space, already filled with all sorts of noises from just five people, became even more chaotic with the addition of two more, creating a cacophony unlike anything before.
“Hoo…! Is that dagger an Artifact?”
Albert immediately noticed Arisa’s dagger and swung his sword at her. Sensing the deadly intent in his aura, Aila, who had been thrusting her dagger toward Arisa, stopped and quickly crouched down.
As Arisa dodged the attack, the trajectory of Albert’s sword now aimed at Aila, who had been facing Arisa.
Aila, who had tried to take advantage of the opening Arisa showed, gritted her teeth and parried Albert’s sword as it accelerated toward her instead of slowing down.
Meanwhile, Arisa, having regained her stance, stood up and thrust her dagger upward at Albert, who had been targeting her.
Despite the attack coming from his blind spot, Albert, as if he could sense it without looking, stopped his struggle with Aila and stepped back.
“…Tricky.”
Whenever one tried to attack, the other would immediately intervene, creating a stalemate.
It was a kind of deadlock.
The situation with Liche, Yuri, Daria, and Louis wasn’t much different.
Whenever Louis charged to swing his sword, Liche’s magic blocked his path. Liche continued to use magic to restrain Louis, and when she tried to cast a large-scale spell that could harm not only Louis but also Daria, Daria would interfere with Liche’s magic.
“Tch…! How cheap, only disrupting my magic when you’re in danger!”
“Hmph. As if I’m obligated to help you. How ridiculous.”
“Don’t say such irritating things!”
The strange balance of power seemed to maintain the status quo.
“…Come to think of it, we don’t necessarily have to keep restraining each other.”
“…Unpleasant, but I can’t disagree with that.”
Until Albert and Daria, dissatisfied with the deadlock, opened their mouths.
At first, Albert thought that with their strength, they could easily subdue not only Arisa’s group but also the Sisters of the Holy Kingdom. However, realizing that the opponents were tougher than expected, he had no choice but to step back. Daria, who had always found it burdensome to deal with Albert’s group, immediately agreed with his words.
The two exchanged silent glances and reached an unspoken agreement.
“Then let’s deal with these adventurers first and then talk.”
“Agreed. It’s better to handle things one at a time rather than trying to do two things at once.”
The two spoke as if Arisa’s group were already caught fish, and soon a temporary alliance was formed.
Thus, the situation entered a new phase.
.
.
.
The battle resumed under the temporary alliance between the Empire and the Holy Kingdom.
The situation was desperate.
Arisa’s group, already the weakest in pure combat power among the three forces, now faced the combined strength of two stronger forces determined to take them down.
Their stamina was dwindling.
The overwhelming gap in strength.
The only reason Arisa’s group could hold on was that the two forces each had their own reasons for wanting Arisa alive and thus avoided killing her if possible.
Clang!
But it was only a matter of time before Albert’s sword sent Arisa’s dagger flying.
“First, one Artifact. Don’t worry, I won’t take your life. I’ll control my strength and strike with the flat of my blade.”
With that, Albert swung the flat of his sword to strike Arisa.
Clang!
Or at least, he tried to.
If not for the spear that suddenly pierced between Arisa and the sword.
“Who’s there?!”
A spear had unexpectedly wedged itself between Albert and Arisa.
Seeing this, Albert, forgetting even to use honorifics in his panic, shouted.
To have slipped past his senses entirely…
It was clear that a powerful figure with extraordinary skill had arrived.
If that spear had been aimed at him instead of his sword, he would have been seriously injured.
With a fierce expression, Albert glared in the direction the spear had come from.
But as the bushes parted and the figure emerged, Albert’s expression hardened.
Rustle.
“Hoo… I made it just in time.”
Emerging from the bushes was…
A Lizardman with bright green skin that shimmered in the sunlight.
Standing taller than an average adult male.
A Lizardman with green skin.
“Anyway, suddenly waking up and shouting that we had to go outside… Couldn’t you have woken up earlier and prepared?”
“Idiot. Prognostication doesn’t work that conveniently. And we’re not late, so it’s fine.”
Wearing a helmet made from a Basilisk’s skull.
Beside him was a Lizardwoman with pink skin, resembling an Uparupa.
“…Who are you?”
.
.
.
“Here. The dagger you dropped.”
Flick.
“Ah, th-thank you.”
“So, Lakia. I saved them, but what do we do next?”
“Hmm.”
“What?”
“The Prognostication I saw only showed female adventurers being attacked. I just came to save these adventurers.”
“…I see.”
Kurt sighed with a “figures” expression at Lakia’s nonchalant response.
Seeing the two so relaxed, Albert, whose attack had been interrupted, scowled.
“We have business with these adventurers. Outsiders, please leave.”
But instead of responding to Albert, Kurt approached Arisa’s group.
At first, Arisa’s group was wary of Kurt’s approach, but he passed by them without a second glance and pulled the spear embedded in the ground.
“Can’t do that. I just saved them, and you want me to hand them over to you?”
“Right. If you want to leave, you leave. Idiots.”
“Idiots…?”
“Alright. We’ll side with them. Let’s keep it fair.”
“Kurt. Hang in there.”
“Hey! You should help too! It’s because of you we’re here.”
“Hiiing….”
Thus, Kurt and Lakia joined Arisa’s group.
And so, the situation entered yet another new phase.
.
.
.
Clang!
“Ugh…! What kind of Lizardman has this level of skill…! Are the Lizardmen of Yustia monsters?!”
“Hahaha! Strong indeed! It was worth coming out!”
“Captain! I’ll assist!”
“Where do you think you’re going?!”
Kurt, the Lizardman, fought on equal footing with Albert, the Empire’s knight captain.
Meanwhile, Arisa blocked Louis, who was trying to assist Albert.
“Aila! Now’s the time!”
“I know!”
Taking advantage of the Empire’s knights struggling, the Sisters of the Holy Kingdom quickly moved to subdue Liche.
“Earth, rise!”
“It won’t work!”
As Liche chanted a spell to create an earthen wall to block Aila, Daria casually dispelled it with a wave of her hand, turning it back into a pile of dirt.
Seeing this, Yuri stepped forward to protect Liche, while Arisa, who had been fighting Louis, tried to retreat.
“No.”
In the midst of the battlefield, Lakia, as if the fight were someone else’s business, leisurely took out seeds from her pocket and scattered them on the ground.
In an instant, something burst through the soil.
But it wasn’t a plant.
A human arm with pale skin, a Beastkin’s arm covered in fur, a Dwarf’s thick arm, and even an Orc’s arm with a deep red hue from the western continent.
Countless arms sprouted from the ground.
The arms flailed wildly, as if craving something, and Aila, caught off guard, called out to Daria in panic.
“Daria! Dispel the magic!”
“W-what is this?! I don’t know this magic! It’s completely new to me!”
But Daria, despite her extensive knowledge of threats to humanity, was at a loss.
Being knowledgeable didn’t mean being omniscient.
Magic that posed no threat to humanity, or obscure spells even the Holy Kingdom hadn’t documented.
Or perhaps, knowledge of the independent magical developments of the Lizardmen from remote regions…
As Daria struggled to figure out a counter, the arms that had grabbed Aila flailed for a while before each one grabbed a seed Lakia had scattered and disappeared back into the ground.
“Done. Next.”
But there was no time to relax.
Lakia then threw a small gourd, which shattered upon hitting the ground, releasing an inexplicable amount of water.
Next, she clapped her hands and began to sing, causing an overwhelming sense of sadness, lethargy, and inexplicable joy to rise in everyone.
Though each spell was non-lethal, merely annoying, the unpredictable nature of Lakia’s magic left Daria and Aila helplessly flustered.
“Ahahaha! S-stop! Stop it!”
“I said stop!”
The chaotic battle involving all four groups reached its climax….
Clang!
Clang!
La la la…
Rustle, rustle.
“…What are you all doing here?”
By chance, Kurt, along with Mari, Karina, and Serena, who were on a mission nearby, arrived….
And the situation entered yet another new phase.
