Chapter 206 Evening Gathering
After the battle ended that night, the four people from Lolan Hill’s dormitory and the four people from Bumansa’s dormitory gathered again. Tonight, Bumansa baked many loaves of bread and cookies once more.
Cold bread, when compared to freshly baked bread eaten while still warm, was a completely different experience.
Warm and soft bread emitted a fragrant scent of wheat, feeling slightly hot to the touch. Tearing off a corner revealed white steam rising up, and the taste in the mouth had a fresh aroma of egg and milk.
Lily, Alena, and Vimya were seated around a wooden table in Bumansa’s dormitory, eating bread and playing the Wind Moon Chess. Depending on the size of the board, this game could be played by two to four people together.
“Clash! My dragon stepped on Lily’s knight, then upgraded into a Red Flame Dragon,” Alena moved her dragon piece, knocking over Lily’s horse head piece, and cheered triumphantly.
“Ugh, I can’t win.” Seeing Alena turn her flying dragon into a giant dragon and then upgrade it to a Red Flame Dragon, while she herself had no effective countermeasures, Lily finally gave up with a sigh, resting her caramel-colored short hair on her arms. She pouted, then reached out to grab a cookie beside her and put it in her mouth.
Seeing the game was already lost, Vimya also declared her surrender and looked at Lolan Hill, who was reading nearby, and called out.
“Lolan, do you want to come over and have something to eat? Bumansa just baked them.”
“Mmm.” Although she answered verbally, Lolan Hill’s mind was still on her book. The warm yellow book had a candle pattern etched on it, and the cover read “From Candlelight to Radiance — The Development History of the Angel Church.” This book introduced and explained the development history of the Angel Church, along with the various distinctive roles within the Angel Sequence.
Because she wanted to raise her rank in the Angel Sequence, she had recently been searching through the school library for materials about the Angel Sequence. Since the Angel Sequence emerged the latest, there were almost no records during the Mercury Dynasty era, so she had to gather information from scratch.
“Pick one, Lolan.” A pair of clean hands held a basket filled with freshly baked small loaves of bread and handed it to Lolan Hill.
“Thank you.” Lolan Hill lifted her head; it was Nia. She had just come out of the kitchen, helping Bumansa take the bread out of the oven, and seeing that Lolan Hill hadn’t eaten any earlier, she handed one over first.
Picking up a light green coconut bread, Lolan Hill took a bite, and the coconut milk fragrance and slight sweetness spread in her mouth.
“Are you planning to cultivate the Angel Sequence in the future?” Nia asked curiously.
“Well, I’m still considering it.” Actually, Lolan Hill was thinking about whether to cultivate the Angel Sequence under another identity while keeping her demonic sequence identity public.
“Ah, ah. Lolan is already Sequence 4, do you still need to change sequences? That would take a lot of time.”
Alena was a bit surprised, then came over holding a kitten. The little orange cat struggled in her arms, seemingly wanting to stand up by itself.
“But as long as you haven’t reached Sequence 5, changing sequences isn’t a big deal, it’s just a matter of wasting time.” Letis walked in after having a bath, still steaming from the heat.
“As for me, due to my family background, I naturally chose the Magic Sequence,” she said, then picked up a towel to rub her hair, hoping it would dry faster.
“Do you want some bread?” Nia came over with the basket.
“Thank you.” Holding her head towel with one hand and taking a cranberry bread with the other, Letis thanked her.
“I guess I’ll probably go down the Magic Sequence path too. I want to breed a huge, powerful Demonic Beast and take it for a ride,” Alena touched her lips and daydreamed.
“Although they’re both Magic Sequences, unfortunately, we aren’t on the same path. Our methods are different,” Letis pulled out a wooden chair and sat down, looking at Alena and saying with displeasure.
Alena clearly followed the Southern Crescent Council path, considered traditional, focusing on breeding Demonic Beasts, concocting potions, and performing arcane arts.
Letis, on the other hand, followed the Alchemy lineage, focusing on creating extraordinary artifacts, metal machinery, and controlling energy. Both factions had their differences and often disliked each other’s approaches.
“What about you, Nia? Which sequence will you choose? Currently, you are the Primal Sequence, but if it comes to manipulating fire, I think the Magic Sequence would suit you better. While the Dragon Sequence is good too, it doesn’t quite match your style,” Letis analyzed, seemingly trying to pull this roommate to her side.
“Don’t make assumptions about others like that, Letis. You’re showing your young lady syndrome again,” Alena interrupted Letis.
“In fact, the Angel Sequence has roles related to fire. I feel Nia’s personality would fit the Angel Sequence better,” Alena analyzed based on her intuition.
“It’s true,” Letis looked at Nia’s tiny horns, imagining her wearing white wings. She shook her head, feeling it didn’t quite fit.
“Did you all decide so early? I haven’t even thought about it yet,” Lily said, grabbing a few more cookies and putting them in her mouth. In fact, her family was relatively wealthy, with several older siblings, so regardless of which sequence she chose, it wouldn’t matter much.
“Vimya follows the Ocean Sequence, it looks like she won’t change. Ye Ling is the Dragon Sequence, probably because of her family bloodline, so she probably won’t change either,” Lily thought for a moment and guessed.
“Then what about Bumansa?” Letis asked curiously.
“I don’t know. Bumansa doesn’t seem to care much about cultivating an Extraordinary Sequence. Instead, she often studies various baking techniques and recipes. She says she wants to open a bakery after graduation,”
“That sounds nice. I don’t know what I’ll do for a living in the future,”
“Why don’t you go into pig farming, Alena? They say it’s quite profitable,” Letis suggested maliciously.
“Cut it out, how could that happen? I, Alena, will never become a pig farmer. If I were to farm anything, it would be dragons, how cool would that be,” Alena tore off a small piece of bread and tried to feed it to the kitten, but the orange kitten sniffed it and used its paw to push it away, trying to escape Alena’s embrace.
“The kitten isn’t being good. It won’t even eat bread,”
“How could a cat like bread, you idiot? Feed it meat properly, you lazy owner,” Letis commented from the side.
“But bread is also nutritious. Why won’t the kitten try something new? In the future, I want to train cats to eat vegetarian food so that more households can afford to keep cats,” seizing the moment when Alena held the bread with one hand, the kitten finally slipped out of her arm and ran into the kitchen, ready to cause trouble.
Unfortunately, a hand caught the rapidly moving figure, and lifting it by the back of its neck, she held it up.
Bumansa, wearing an apron, brought the kitten out, placing it back on the cushion, stroking its smooth fur, and gently said,
“Be good, stay here. I’ll give you some grilled sausages later.”
As if understanding, the kitten stayed in the chair, not running around anymore.
