Chapter 178: Bluefire Burning the Moon, Blood Staining the Royal City, Part 12
Sarah felt incredibly unlucky.
Strictly speaking, she hadn’t had a very good time during her three days of rest.
She had planned everything so well. She intended to use this leisure time to invite her roommates to her house and have a good time together, show them around some beautiful places in the royal city, and take them to try the famous food there…especially Paylo and Daisy. They were both visiting the royal city for the first time, unfamiliar with the place…they must be feeling quite lonely.
Daisy was naturally somewhat introverted and gentle, and Paylo was young and exceptionally pretty…like a doll. Sarah liked them both and didn’t want them to feel lonely. She believed that as a future预备骑士 and someone who had grown up in the royal city, she had the responsibility to bring everyone together and make them happy. She wanted to do this.
As for Sophia…she would invite her along too.
Although Sarah wasn’t particularly fond of Sophia’s standard noble behavior…they would be living together for a long time in the future, so they should get to know each other better. Sarah wanted to understand everyone and build good relationships with them; this was her little selfish desire.
Sarah had been looking forward to it. Finally, the first day of rest arrived, and she enthusiastically invited everyone. In the end, only Daisy agreed.
Sophia said she had something at home, her father was taking her to meet someone…it was definitely one of those tedious social courtesies among nobles. Well, anyway, she couldn’t go…this was fine, but even Paylo said she had something and couldn’t come…this made Sarah very unhappy, because Paylo was the one she most wanted to invite.
That little girl, with her cute appearance…Sarah wished she could one day be close enough to hug her freely. At that point, she would surely hug and squeeze her all the time…no, she would properly care for her.
It would definitely be warm and comfortable…just thinking about it made her heart melt.
Paylo, apparently, was a princess from the royal family…humph…
But she said she had something to do.
In the end, Sarah resorted to her last resort. She knew Paylo loved delicious food, so on a whim, she said, “Mother’s venison pie is really delicious.”
At that moment, she understood that Paylo was tempted.
Sarah still vividly remembered her innocent look at that time. Her little nose twitched, she licked her lips and swallowed her saliva…like a hungry kitten.
She wanted to eat it, but perhaps…maybe she really did have something to do, so in the end, she didn’t agree and hurried away.
But before leaving, she asked Sarah to bring it for her.
This put Sarah in a difficult situation.
Because in fact…her mother’s venison pie was not good at all. She had said that just to lure Paylo to her house…
But now the words were already out.
So during these three days, besides eating and shopping with Daisy, Sarah also thought about how to satisfy Paylo’s craving…although she was a bit disappointed that Paylo couldn’t come to her house, Sarah still wanted to make her happy.
Sarah enjoyed seeing her happy expression and the look when she ate delicious food; it was simply too adorable~
But if she had to make it herself…Sarah had some pocket money, buying a few pounds of venison from the shop on the street wouldn’t be a problem, but the spices were an issue.
To make delicious venison pie, pepper was essential, but it was very expensive…Sarah couldn’t afford it.
This was also why her mother couldn’t make good meat pies. Although her father, as the captain of the knights of the Holy Church, received a monthly salary of twenty Kanel gold coins…the only one with income in the family was her father.
Her grandfather was old, her grandmother and mother didn’t work, her two younger brothers were still very young, and her tuition fees at the Royal Academy were exorbitant…spices like pepper, which were as valuable as gold, hadn’t been eaten in the family for a long time.
What could she do…
After much thought, Sarah finally decided to buy ready-made ones.
Coincidentally, she knew of a shop that made especially delicious pies, many nobles queued up to buy them. It was expensive, but for just a few, Sarah could still afford it. Although doing this might seem insincere…there was no choice.
As long as Paylo found them tasty, and Sarah didn’t tell her they were bought…it wasn’t a big deal.
So on the last day of her break, Sarah started queuing with Daisy in the afternoon…dragging Daisy along as a co-conspirator might lessen her guilt a bit.
Besides, Daisy was obedient and wouldn’t betray her.
After buying them, they returned to the academy, and Sarah waited for Paylo…tomorrow was class, she should arrive at the dormitory before dark.
But Sarah didn’t wait for her.
The venison pie gradually cooled down…once cold, it wasn’t tasty anymore.
She hadn’t even eaten a few pieces…what was Paylo doing, why hadn’t she come back yet, was she planning to skip class tomorrow…
It was already very dark, and Daisy was preparing to sleep.
Suddenly, Sarah had a terrifying possibility…could Paylo have been bullied by Alex and his friends!
The more Sarah thought about it, the more possible it seemed. She couldn’t sit still any longer and wanted to call Daisy and Sophia to find Paylo…but then she thought again, this was just her guess, and such matters…if true, it would be best not to trouble others.
She would go alone.
So she went out.
First, she found Alex’s friend, and with great difficulty, she went
He asked about where Alex was… The whole process was something Sarah didn’t want to recall again; their attitude was extremely infuriating.
They told Sarah that they didn’t know where Alex was… Sarah felt that they were lying.
She became even more afraid. Without thinking, she rushed out of the academy, not knowing where to go. She could only wander on the streets, hoping to bump into that beautiful figure with black hair and eyes.
If only she had asked where she lived earlier…
As she thought this, an unexpected change occurred in the next moment.
Sarah heard a “buzz” sound coming from a very distant direction in the sky. At first, she did not pay attention, but when the people around her started to panic and kept looking up at the sky, she realized… the ‘Boswell’ that had existed since before her birth, disappeared.
Sarah was very scared… everyone was scared.
Many people on the street knelt down and began praying to the gods, so Sarah followed them in prayer as well.
She prayed in her heart that everyone would be safe.
But things went against her wishes.
An explosion suddenly occurred on a distant street.
It was like divine retribution, making the ground tremble so much that people could hardly stand. Black smoke rose, and the flames made the entire city look as if it had been stained with blood.
Soon after, terrifying monsters appeared.
Sarah swore she had never seen such a scene in her life… or rather, she had never even imagined it.
She didn’t understand what was happening. She was very scared; her heart had never beaten so fast. She didn’t know what to do, so she could only keep running with the crowd. Run further, even further… Only then did she feel a bit safer.
There were shouts and screams everywhere.
What was going on…
Were those monsters… from the abyss…
Would we… all die…
Gradually, Sarah ran until she was completely exhausted and could no longer run.
She saw several figures of the Arbitration Bureau not far away; they were all holding swords… but clearly looked just as confused and terrified.
However, she felt safer being with them.
So Sarah joined many others and hid in a corner of a street alley with the Arbitration Bureau personnel… Everyone was tired and wanted to rest for a while.
After a while, Sarah saw the monsters flying up in the distance… someone was fighting them in the sky… two people…
Sarah couldn’t see who they were.
But she noticed that the direction from which the monster came seemed to be right here.
What should I do… Should I continue running…
Or stay here… pray that the monster won’t find us…
Suddenly, there was a commotion around her, and then Sarah saw someone falling from the sky.
He seemed injured… falling straight from mid-air to the ground. “Peng,” the sound came from nearby, and Sarah watched, feeling the pain… not knowing how many bones were broken.
But the monster still looked energetic. Explosions continued in the sky, and the people who hadn’t fallen were still fighting fiercely with it… Sarah understood that those battling the monster must be heroes of the city.
Sarah was very scared… she felt her legs almost giving out.
But she still wanted to know who it was.
So Sarah squinted her eyes, pushed through the people in front of her, and focused on the figure who had just fallen.
In her heart, she silently prayed that the hero would be okay.
Her wish came true.
In the darkness, that figure struggled to stand up.
Small, with a frail-looking silhouette.
Sarah immediately recognized the scorched white cloak behind the figure.
Sarah knew, that was the symbol of the Pope’s Knights.
“That’s… Sir Knight of the Pope…”
“And Her Majesty… They are fighting the monster…”
“Can we survive…”
Right, Her Majesty’s Order of the Wind was powerful; she could fly… the one in the sky must be Her Majesty… then who was the person who fell?
The low murmurs of the people around her, seemingly heard by someone else, made Sarah see her turn back… a girl.
A very young girl.
She wore a black dress that had become tattered and dirty in the battle, full of holes. Her legs, arms, and face were covered in dirt and blood, looking pitiful… she must have fought hard.
How could it be… such a young girl…
The street lights were extinguished by the previous explosion, the light dim, and Sarah couldn’t see her face clearly.
But the girl saw the people here.
She seemed very anxious, shouting loudly, “Leave! Quickly!”
Sarah felt that the voice was very pleasant, like a bird singing.
Besides, Sarah vaguely felt that this voice seemed familiar… so familiar.
Where had she heard it…
Yes, it was somewhat similar to Peyalo’s soft voice, but also different… the previous shout carried a sense of authority.
This feeling Sarah couldn’t find in Peyalo because it was the taste of a hero she admired.
“Quickly leave! Run this way—!”
The Arbitration Bureau personnel started guiding everyone to escape, so Sarah followed the crowd, hugging the wall and running towards the distance.
Boom—!!!
A huge noise came from behind, and Sarah couldn’t help but look back once more.
In her sight, the dirty, small figure, dragging wounds all over her body, stepped on the thick ice pillars rising from the ground, like an eagle spreading its wings, charging towards the blazing fire in the sky that seemed to ignite the moon.
