Chapter 206

Chapter 206. Nice Boat. (1)

Just 3 seconds after receiving the notification that the crew had boarded and that the test run was about to begin, a bizarre image of what kind of ship this was popped into my head.

<Event>

<Acquired a Prototype Special Ship from the Ancient Empire!>

<‘Nerañzara’-class Aetheric Submarine x1>

At least during the time I played the game, I had never heard of or seen such a ship type, and I couldn’t help but tilt my head in confusion.

‘What is this?’

And Jessica, who was next to me reading the same message, felt the same way.

“Commander, what kind of ship is this?”

“I’ve never seen it before, so I’m not sure either.”

As our superhuman friends brought in the brain-scrambled ship—screaming, “I’m a useless female!!”—I decided to look up what this ‘Nerañzara’ ship was while our troops were bringing it in.

But…

–<Search results for ‘Nerañzara’: None>

–<Search results for ‘Aetheric Submarine’: None>

“Huh, nothing’s coming up?”

“…Hmm.”

Unfortunately, the Wiki tab showed no information about Nerañzara.

Of course, since only a few dozen users appointed as ‘Wiki Officers’ could even post articles there, it wasn’t uncommon for information to be missing sometimes. So, I decided to search the entire Gallery instead.

“Commander, if it’s not on the Wiki, can it be on the Gallery?”

“Exactly. The Wiki tab only contains ‘facts’ that have been thoroughly verified by Wiki Officers and related personnel.”

“Is that so?”

“Of course, there are people on the Gallery who post analysis articles and such, but those aren’t recognized as ‘facts’ until they’re verified by Wiki Officers, so they’re treated as regular posts.”

After briefly explaining this to Jessica, I checked the search results for Nerañzara on the Gallery and opened the most upvoted ‘analysis post’ to gather information.

However, as I read the analysis post about Nerañzara, I felt a chill run down my spine…

The reason was simple: the ‘Aetheric Submarine Nerañzara’ was a ship that was on a completely different ‘dimension’ compared to other ships.

Title: Y’all know about this Nerañzara ship?

Author: Volcano

Content: [Nerañzara concept art]

This is a ship that’s occasionally found in Ancient Empire-related ruins.

It’s slightly smaller than a destroyer, with weak armor and all its weapons being torpedoes.

It only has four anti-air missile launchers, so if a few aircraft come at it, it’ll literally get torn apart.

It’s pretty far from the overtechnology you’d expect from the Ancient Empire.

But here’s the kicker:

It’s the only ship in the game that can act as a ‘submarine.’

Lore-wise, it can enter an aetheric space opposite to our dimension, where it can attack without being hit back. LOL.

Of course, it can’t stay in the aetheric space indefinitely, but if you level it up and equip it properly, you can extend that time significantly.

Oh, but the only thing that can attack ships from the aetheric space is its special self-regenerating torpedoes.

If you try to load regular torpedoes, they’ll just fly endlessly in the aetheric space and disappear.

I’m telling you this because I once used it to render five battleships useless in a single battle.

Since there are a ton of Ancient Empire ruins popping up now, I figured someone would get their hands on one of these. Y’know?

Man, that thing was a total game-changer. For real.

Comments:

-[So it’s a ship that can attack without getting hit back? Sounds OP.]

-[It’s literally a cheat ship, isn’t it?]

-˪[Yep, that’s why its armor gets shredded by machine gun fire, not even missiles.](Author)

-[I heard the equipment and structure for aetheric diving amplify radar signals, so it shows up as a cruiser-sized blip on radar. LOL.]

-˪[Someone knows their stuff. That’s correct.](Author)

-[The torpedoes are unavoidable, but their damage is kinda weak, probably for balance reasons.]

-[You gotta aim for vital parts or weak spots, like the engine propulsion system.]

You gotta shoot it clean, y’know.

– [Top comment is legit, the size of the special torpedo is similar to a medium torpedo, so I thought the firepower would be similar too, and I tend to just spam it.]

– [This thing’s firepower is slightly weaker than a regular light torpedo, and since it exits hyperspace about 5-6 seconds before hitting, it can get intercepted.]

—————————————-

Aside from all sorts of brick-like comments being thrown around, to sum it up, it’s a ship that embodies “You can’t hit me, but I can beat you up one-sidedly.”

“Wow, that’s amazing.”

“That’s awesome.”

Of course, right now, it’s just a level 1 baby ship compared to superhumans, so it’ll need plenty of upgrades, equipment, and leveling in the future…

But it’s not like a light aircraft carrier where you have to keep swapping out aircraft and waste hundreds or thousands of minerals every time you level up.

Just stick it in a safe hyperspace and let it spew torpedoes to kill pirates—that should be enough, right?

And even if we didn’t get that Naranzar-class ship, the character ‘Rain’ that our superhumans captured and brought back is still a sweet reward.

I immediately pulled up the character screen I saw earlier again.

As you can see from the clearly written ‘Survivalism’ and ‘Resource Management,’

Rain’s true identity is none other than the ‘resource buff’ character I’ve been desperately searching for.

—————————————-

Title: S-Class Resource Supporter Rain Description

Author: Wiki Officer mk-32

Content: [Rain’s concept art], [Stat display]

Whether you get her from gacha or whatever, she’s a resource supporter character that most users have at least one of.

Her own performance is pretty trash for an S-class.

Her combat power is straight-up garbage, so if you send her to the frontlines, she’ll get wrecked even by B-class superhumans, let alone A-class.

Plus, because of her survivalism trait, she’ll surrender immediately if she thinks she’s about to die.

But who the hell puts a resource supporter on the frontlines anyway?

She’s not meant to fight directly; she’s supposed to be stuck in the base to boost resource acquisition rates.

So, getting into the specifics,

First, she boosts the base’s resource production rate by about 1.5x, and improves resource fleet mining by about 5%.

That should be enough.

Comments:

– [She literally loses morale the moment you deploy her to the frontlines lololol]

– [With physical stats at D-, she’s worse than a normal human, so obviously?]

– [Just stick her in the base and use her like an administrator, that’s the best.]

—————————————-

“A resource buff character, that’s truly precious.”

“Finally, we have someone like that in our base.”

A resource supporter, what a glorious title.

And as written on the wiki tab, she can’t and won’t engage in direct combat, just serving as a resource buff totem for the base.

No need to worry about leveling her up or having her betray you and hijack your ship.

So, as soon as our superhumans brought Rain back, I brought up the above points…

But the moment I brought it up,

“Oh, Commander, so you don’t plan to take this girl with you anywhere?”

“Exactly, she just needs to stay in the base.”

“Oh my, oh my, oh my, in that case…”

Our Grigri Gryanarr, with a crazed look in her eyes, dragged Rain off somewhere…

And just a few hours later,

She showed off Rain, now embedded in the base’s facilities, turned into a biological component, proudly displayed by Gryanarr.

I was left wondering where to even start criticizing this.
