Chapter 177: Azure Flame Burning the Moon, Blood Staining the Royal City – Eleven
The colossal head of the monster suddenly trembled.
“Tre… sa…”
The profound voice carried a tone eerily similar to Teresa’s. It initially seemed to come from countless hollows on the monster’s face. But upon closer listening, it felt like it was hidden deep within dreams, those omnipresent, nightmare-like sighs.
Its head shook and twisted in front of me, continuously emitting bizarre words: “I am… Tre… dead… I clearly… ah… return to God… Teresa… sins…”
Jumbled language overlapped together, spoken at an extremely fast pace. In about half a second, I could only vaguely make out a few relatively clear words.
Half a second later, it stopped trembling… and spoke very clearly.
“In Abyssal, I am… the will of God, I am… Diana’s angel.”
I froze.
A buzzing sound echoed in my head.
Overwhelming shock surged from my heart, spreading throughout my body like ripples.
It can speak Abyssal…
An unbelievable fact instantly filled my mind. Even with the sharp wind whistling by, it was hard to snap back to reality.
What exactly is this thing…
“Stop daydreaming!”
In a daze, a cold shout came from the street to my left.
Suddenly, everything darkened above me.
Out of the corner of my eye, a giant bloodied hand, accompanied by the roaring flames, slammed down directly above my head.
I jolted in fright, finally reacting, quickly changing my steps to perform Moon Step, my body shooting up like a meteor, swiftly leaving the ground and leaping into the air.
Bang—!
As the giant hand slammed into the ruins, scattering rubble and dust, I built an ice platform beneath my feet, pushing off with all my might. My right hand rose in the air, holding a phantom grip, and with the sound of cracking ice, a frosty scythe emerged, shimmering with white mist, firmly in my grasp once more.
Bam!
I dodged one of its hands with a quick change in direction, swinging the blade down towards the monster’s head.
“Teresa—!”
Just as I shouted, the creature suddenly lifted its head.
The hollows on its face suddenly glowed with intense light, and its blood-red, strange facial bones split open, revealing a massive mouth lined with countless spikes. A raging crimson flame jetted out from the depths, and I instinctively raised my left arm to shield my face.
“Ahh—!!”
So hot… so hot…
At the instant I felt the intense heat, I panicked, driving Frost Order to its limits, desperately resisting the searing temperature.
Faint blue light flickered amidst the soaring flames, like a candle wobbling in a fierce wind, ready to be extinguished at any moment.
This is it… get away, get away, get away…
Suddenly, the wind roared around me, the flame attack paused momentarily, and a powerful suction pulled me from the inferno on my right side.
My whole body went cold.
Immediately after, a massive explosion sounded below.
Boom—!
A wild storm swept up debris and stones before my eyes. I glanced sideways and saw Victoria floating in mid-air, her orange-red dress dancing amidst the oscillating waves.
She held her left hand out in front of her, palm facing me… that strong suction force came from there. Her other hand gripped a plain longsword, and the slash she delivered left a trail of afterimages. The powerful wind blade, accompanied by a piercing roar, sliced through the hard rock streets, leaving deep grooves, and struck the monster’s ribs with a thunderous impact.
Boom boom boom—!!!
Continuous explosions rang out, blood and flesh fragments flying everywhere.
“Grrr—”
The monster seemed to be hurt.
It let out a bone-chilling roar, rising into the air, its huge, disgusting body twisting, like a predator preparing to pounce, towards Victoria.
I immediately shouted, “Victoria, let me down!”
Victoria quickly glanced at me, understanding instantly, and retracted her raised left hand.
Feeling the wind disappear from my body, I adjusted my posture in mid-air, landing steadily on the ground.
The object’s head, the scythe in hand was raised high and slashed down with all its might—
Clang!
Ice crystal sparks flew out.
Too hard…
The white bones on this monster’s head were as hard as steel…
Sssss—
Stepping on the monster’s two ribs, steam rose instantly. The exposed skin burned with pain. Its body temperature was extremely high; I had to release frost mist at full strength just to barely keep from being scalded.
I endured the numbness in my right arm and aimed for the hollow in its cheekbone. The ice short scythe spewed white fog and slashed down again.
Peng—
Frost mist exploded all around, enveloping half of me and the monster.
“Gao gao gao—”
It began to struggle fiercely, abandoning its pursuit of Victoria, its huge body quickly soaring into the sky. After spinning several times, it started to slide down with its back facing downwards.
No way am I letting go!
The ice short scythe was firmly stuck in the hollow on its face due to the previous strike. I gritted my teeth and held onto the handle tightly, hanging in mid-air. The tearing pain in my arms almost drove me mad.
“Ah—!!”
I shouted, and blue light burst from my left hand. I punched into the hollow in its head.
Peng!
The frost mist, driven by full force, exploded on the monster’s face, freezing half of its head.
Not enough! One more time!
Peng! Peng! Peng—
The delicate fist emitted blue-white light, punching into the hollow in the monster’s head again and again. Frost mist seeped inside, and I felt its body begin to tremble slightly.
It’s working!
Whoosh—
Victoria followed closely behind.
She seized her chance and swung her sword. A powerful wind blade cut deep into the monster’s ribs.
“Gao gao gao—”
The monster howled wildly.
It struggled even more violently, and its bizarre giant hand ignited with scarlet flames, suddenly slapping towards its own head.
Damn!
A massive pressure came over me, and I immediately let go. As I fell, I sprayed frost mist again at its cheekbone.
This thing’s body temperature is too high… Even if I could freeze it first, those frost would melt away in the next moment… I need to think of another way…
“Watch out!”
It was Victoria’s voice. She sounded anxious…
Peng!
A great force struck my head.
Buzz buzz buzz…
Everything went dark.
In a daze, I saw Victoria turning mid-air to charge down to save me… but she was immediately entangled by countless strip-like cartilages on the monster’s head.
A hurricane surrounded her, forming a terrifying tornado of sharp blades that sliced the cartilages into pieces… but the cartilages glowed with intense red light… flames scattered everywhere… I couldn’t see anything…
Peng—!!!
“Mmm…”
After the impact, a suffocating pain spread through my back.
“Mmm… uh… uh ha—”
My face turned red, and I barely managed to take a breath, inhaling a mouthful of dust.
“Cough! Cough…”
Tears streamed down my face from the choking sensation.
The back of my head was numb, and there was a nauseating feeling. I reached out and touched it… My hand was covered in blood.
Fortunately, I didn’t fall from a great height. Lying on the cold road, I tried moving my arms and legs… Good, though it hurt, everything was fine.
Rumble—!
There was a lot of commotion above.
Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!
Explosions continued to ring out… Victoria was still battling the monster…
I need to hurry and help her…
Struggling to stand up, I suddenly heard faint voices nearby.
“That’s… Lord Knight of the Pope…”
“And Her Majesty the Queen… They are fighting the monster…”
“Can we survive…?”
I turned in shock.
In the dark, narrow alleyway corner,隐约间… I saw many people hiding.
Why are they hiding here… Oh, that girl…
I rubbed my eyes.
Behind the crowd, there was a trembling little face. I could vaguely make out it was Sarah’s figure.
