Chapter 20 The Silver-haired Savior

“Idiot! Didn’t I tell you to escape when you had the chance?”

A stick behind him roused Kanda from his stupor. The old rabbit roared in anger, snapping him out of it, and they hurriedly retreated.

Under the poisonous fog, some rabbits lost consciousness and collapsed on the ground, while others clutched their throats and writhed violently. The scene was chaotic, with cries for help and sobs echoing from all directions.

Kanda gathered some of the unpoisoned young rabbits and prepared to lead the women and children away through the mountain path at the back of the village.

Unfortunately, the giant snake had also noticed the group of fleeing rabbits. The concentration of heat signatures from the gathering rabbits stood out like a red spot suddenly appearing in a blue pattern in the snake’s perception.

The large snake quickly circled around from the side of the hill and charged down, knocking over several trees before crashing into the retreating rabbit group, splitting them in two. A small portion managed to escape, but most were trapped inside the village, unable to move forward or backward.

Kanda and several other rabbits rushed forward, using every means to try and divert the snake’s attention so that the trapped children and women could escape.

However, the giant snake paid no heed and swept them aside with its tail, slamming them into nearby trees and rocks, breaking several ribs and leaving them unable to move.

Kanda clutched his chest, spitting blood, and watched in agony as the snake devoured one rabbit after another. He struggled to stand up, but his spine had been crushed against a rock, rendering his lower body numb and useless.

Sighing,

the silver-haired young lady jumped down from a branch, witnessing this tragic scene.

Suddenly, gusts of wind blew through the woodland, causing the lush leaves to rustle loudly.

Then, a whirlwind whipped up layers of leaves, enveloping the silver-ringed snake, disrupting its hunting and vision.

The snake thrashed about, trying to dodge the annoying leaves, but remained within the whirlwind’s range. Finally, it slithered away, diving into the dense forest to block the troublesome whirlwind.

Once inside the forest, although the whirlwind gradually dissipated, invisible blades of wind continued to appear, peeling off the snake’s scales and slicing open wounds, revealing bloody flesh.

The great snake, with its golden serpent eyes wide open in anger, scanned its surroundings. Its crimson tongue flickered incessantly, searching for the one attacking it.

Unfortunately, the silver-haired girl’s perception was far superior to that of the snake. From a great distance, her attacks were almost beyond visual range, rendering the snake’s actions futile.

The wind blades continuously cut into the snake’s body, though not fatal, they made it increasingly agitated. Unable to find its enemy, it thrashed about wildly, using trees to shield itself from the attacks within the forest.

As the great snake darted through the mountains and woods, gusts of wind also swept through the village, dispersing the toxic fog. Many rabbits were thus saved.

The old rabbit, who had been previously, knelt on the ground in the village square, prostrating himself and loudly expressing gratitude.

“Merciful great being, thank you for saving our humble tribe. Whatever your demands may be, our tribe will do everything in our power to fulfill them. Please, save us! We are willing to follow you.”

His voice choked with tears, his words filled with sincerity. Under his lead, other rabbits began to kneel and plead as well.

Though they did not know who had saved them, what difference did it make? There could be no worse outcome than the present.

The swiftly flying wind blades weaved through the forest, accurately avoiding branches and shrubs, slicing into the snake’s body. The great snake was no longer as composed as before; it was covered in blood, many scales stripped away, roaring silently.

Seemingly having finally understood something, the great snake stopped running around the woods and turned back towards this small village.

Its dim-witted brain finally realized that this matter might have something to do with the rabbits of this village.

The slithering body crushed trees and rubble, directly toppling the wooden walls surrounding the village. It glared fiercely at the remaining rabbits inside, paying no heed to the scales being lifted or the increasing wounds, opening its blood-red mouth and spewing out a thick, poisonous fog, which began to spread again within the village.

Lolan Hill watched the great snake return to the village from afar, feeling somewhat troubled. She had originally intended to slowly wear it down, but now, if too much time passed, all the rabbits in the village would likely die. Killing the giant snake would then be meaningless.

“Wind come!”

The mountain breeze swept in from all directions, carrying countless leaves, green grass, and soil, circling around the great snake. It blew away the toxic fog it had exhaled, obscuring its vision and perception.

The Silver-ringed King Cobra had some ability to manipulate airflow itself, but against Lolan Hill, it was helpless.

Before the naturally born wind controller, it was completely inadequate and was thoroughly suppressed. It rolled around restlessly within the village, searching for the one who had secretly attacked it.

Many houses in the village were collapsing, and some rabbits were crying and running around. Among them, a mother held her child tightly, crouching in a corner, her body trembling slightly as she tried to cover the child’s mouth to prevent the giant snake from noticing them.

The giant snake indeed did not pay attention to this minor figure. It slithered past her with a crimson tongue, but its tail accidentally swept over, about to crush the mother and her child into pulp.

Suddenly, a powerful air projectile whistled past the mother, striking the snake’s tail and pushing it away, preventing the tragedy.

However, this also attracted the giant snake’s attention. Its ferocious head immediately turned back, attempting to continue attacking the pitiful mother and daughter.

A spear flew through the air rapidly, striking the giant snake’s head, once again diverting its focus.

Lolan Hill floated in the air, her silver hair dancing in the wind, with colorless currents swirling around her, as if declaring that she was its true opponent and the one who had been attacking the venomous snake all along.

The silver ring king cobra hissed loudly, darting forward swiftly, excitedly flickering its tongue as if trying to memorize the scent of this enemy before it.

The silver-haired girl waved her hand, and a spear flew out from the ruins of the village, carried by the currents to her hand. She held the spear with both hands and tested its weight; it seemed appropriate.

Then, she paused momentarily, holding the spear with one hand, and rushed swiftly towards the venomous snake.

The silver ring king cobra was many times larger than Lolan Hill. If it opened its mouth, it could probably swallow the girl whole, but it did not underestimate the slender figure before it, treating her as an equal opponent. The opponent that had made it so miserable, nearly forcing it to flee, was extremely rare even after living for so long.

Deadly venom sprayed from the snake’s fangs. The young lady continuously dodged, her flight trajectory fluctuating up and down, drawing intricate arcs in the air as she attacked the snake’s eyes, seemingly aiming to blind those golden serpent eyes.

The silver ring king cobra continuously shook its head to avoid the sharp spear tip, occasionally spewing toxic mist to interfere with Lolan Hill’s approach and flight. Several times, Lolan Hill barely managed to dodge, leaving several gaps and holes in her white dress due to the venom’s corrosion.
