Chapter 2 Slaughter

Ignoring the increasingly intense cries in the distance, I hurriedly lowered my head to check.

My arms and chest were surrounded by ominous black smoke. It seemed as though my upper body was covered in black armor made of some unknown material, extending down to my thighs, leaving only my forearms exposed.

Below my legs, the black smoke was even more intense, radiating a glaring white light, resembling a black battle skirt that obscured my legs. It connected to a boiling black liquid that looked like asphalt.

Looking into the distance, under the azure sky, green hills stretched across thousands of peaks and valleys, connecting to lush grasslands. Trees bearing red fruits stood tall and green, while silver flowers bloomed across the fields.

Such a beautiful scene was ruined by a massive chasm spanning several kilometers. The terrifying black liquid continuously overflowed from the chasm, causing plants to wither rapidly and turn into black powder upon contact.

At this moment, I was standing at the center of the chasm, on the bubbling black liquid.

In front of the legion, there were three men riding strange beasts. Glancing roughly, one knight wore more dazzling armor, another was a robed sage, and the last was a young man wrapped in a white cloak, wearing silver light armor, with a long sword hanging at his waist, looking somewhat like a swordsman.

These three might be the leaders of the group.

Where am I? Who are they? Were those fireballs magic?

The leading knight in the middle ordered the third round of fireballs to come at me, trailing long flames.

“Aaah—!!” Seeing another attack imminent, the overwhelming emotions caused me to lose control. Instinctively, I swung my arm toward the incoming fireballs. Black smoke surged forward like a giant python, accompanied by a bluish-green flash.

At the command of the leading knight, which sounded like thunder, a thousand knights accompanied by a new wave of fire rain let out high-pitched and stirring shouts, rushing towards me like a flood breaking its dam.

Facing the rolling fire rain and the advancing army, pain, anger, fear, resentment, and extreme confusion and misunderstanding amplified the complex emotions in my heart, surging to my head.

“Roar—!!” The enraged roar shook the heavens. I wildly waved my arms at the charging knights ahead, and black smoke shot out again, transforming into countless black serpents that converged above the charging knights, forming a huge black flame emitting a ghastly white glow, crashing down.

“Boom—!”

A massive explosion erupted in the middle of the army, and black flames instantly engulfed countless knights, triggering even more glaring white light, painting the surroundings hundreds of meters wide in a white night.
