EP.196 The Saintess Shocked Twice #2
@@
Adel felt a stabbing pain in her chest.
The moment she arrived on Earth, she sensed an overwhelming evil energy, far beyond what the axe-wielding demon had emitted when it approached on a tank.
Even though no demon had appeared yet, the sheer intensity of this evil energy made her shudder at the thought of how dangerous it would be when it did.
With a serious expression, she glanced at Jihyuk, who was piloting the fighter jet.
He had quickly issued orders upon hearing that three S-class demons had appeared in different locations.
Thanks to him, Sehwa and Yuria headed to the United States, while Silvia and Dr. Cash went to Canada.
Recalling Jihyuk’s swift decision-making and resolve in the lab, Adel muttered to herself.
“You’re reliable…”
Jihyuk glanced at her.
“Me?”
“Yes… It seems like Earth has been able to maintain peace because of you.”
“It’s not me, it’s thanks to the Beast Slayer. I have high hopes for you too, Adel.”
Hearing his gentle voice, Adel felt a surge of strength.
She clasped her hands tightly and began reciting a prayer.
Soon, the divine power she had nurtured by reviewing the teachings of the Rosario Church every day began to emanate from her body, seeping out of the fighter jet.
After a brief prayer, Adel opened her eyes and clenched her fists.
“I don’t want to let Jihyuk down. Please believe in me.”
“I always do.”
Feeling reassured by his calm tone, Adel steeled herself to quickly purify the demon that had appeared and then support her comrades.
The fighter jet soon arrived in northern Germany.
Adel grimaced as she saw the gaping maw of a massive demon floating in the air.
It was a grotesque portal, exuding pure malevolence. Tairat’s tastes were truly unique.
“Phew!”
Adel let out a short, heavy sigh and turned to Jihyuk.
“Jihyuk, should I use the power of Aiter now?”
“Yes. Use it as soon as that mouth opens…”
Before Jihyuk could finish,
Groooooo…!
An immense evil energy seeped through the gaps in the demon’s closed teeth, and the portal opened just enough for a person to pass through.
Out came a demon with a crow’s head and a human body.
Rather than cringing at the demon’s grotesque appearance, Adel focused on preventing its evil energy from spreading.
She quickly pulled out the Aiter container from her pocket and shouted to Jihyuk.
“Open the door!”
“Got it.”
Jihyuk nodded and pressed a green button beside the cockpit.
With a clank, the fighter jet’s door opened upward, letting in a strong gust of wind that whipped Adel’s bright golden hair.
Adel swallowed hard and stepped toward the door.
‘Here goes!’
It had been a while since she last used Aiter, but she had to remain composed. This was the first time she was officially showing this power to Jihyuk.
With that thought, Adel smiled reassuringly at Jihyuk, who looked worried, and then leaped out of the fighter jet.
‘Almighty Lord, grant me the power to vanquish evil…!’
Whoooosh…!
The supreme divine power of Rosario, the lord of the heavens and the god of light, resonated with the mysterious energy of Aiter, creating an eerie resonance sound.
A golden light, akin to the sun, spread from Adel’s falling body, instantly dissipating the evil energy scattered by the demon’s appearance.
Adel felt every cell in her body awaken.
Overwhelming power and a clear mind.
A desire to destroy the great evil before her surged within her.
Thud-!
Landing with a loud crash, empowered by Aiter, she surveyed the empty streets of downtown Germany.
Thanks to the efforts of Jihyuk and Dr. Cash, infrastructure had been built worldwide, regardless of whether a country was developed or not. The moment the Evil Energy Gauge detected something, evacuation broadcasts would go out.
Even if the Beast Slayer destroyed buildings while fighting demons, the World Union would support the reconstruction…
‘Amazing…!’
Jihyuk and Dr. Cash were truly indispensable talents for Earth.
Thanks to their efforts, the Beast Slayers could fight without worry.
They needed each other. Adel vowed to prove her worth today and take her first step as a Beast Slayer, fully belonging to the headquarters.
“@*!#&$([emailprotected]”
The crow demon in front of her seemed impatient, not willing to wait for Adel.
The demon moved its beak and extended a hand, causing the surrounding air to tremble.
And then,
Whoosh-!
A dark energy shot from the center of its palm toward Adel’s head.
Hearing a warning in her mind, Adel quickly leaned back.
Swoosh!
The energy grazed her nose, cleanly piercing through several buildings before exploding.
Boom-!
The attack turned the surroundings into a wasteland.
Calming her eyes, Adel charged at the ugly demon before it could attack again.
“Hyah!”
Though her mind was still tangled from the device charging method she had heard before the demon appeared, now was not the time for such thoughts.
She would fight without relying on divine power at first. She would use the combat skills Silvia taught her to earn Jihyuk’s recognition!
**
I watched Adel and Amon’s battle with a relaxed gaze.
Thwack! Thud!
With every step Adel took, the ground beneath her cracked as if an earthquake had struck.
She swung her small fists around.
“Hyah! Hah!”
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Despite her cute and delicate battle cries, her punches were incredibly fierce.
Each swing created a sonic boom that sent shivers down my spine.
It was hard to believe this was the same gentle Adel. Her stance was quite impressive.
However, she was still inexperienced, giving Amon plenty of opportunities to dodge and counter.
Not having her signature hammer also played a part.
Amon remained calm throughout, never letting Adel’s attacks land and occasionally striking back with his evil energy.
Yet, none of his attacks were effective.
A radiant yellow light emanated from Adel’s body, nullifying Amon’s attacks.
It seemed her divine power automatically defended against evil energy.
‘Cheating much?’
Even without a weapon, in a situation where she was fighting bare-handed, her near-invincible defense meant she didn’t even get a scratch…
Adel was already tough, but Rosario had given her an absurdly powerful ability.
Clicking my tongue, I glanced at Dr. Cash’s fighter jet monitor.
In the snow-covered Rocky Mountains of Canada, a red flash was tearing through a demon named Gorf.
Even considering the location where his unique abilities couldn’t fully manifest, Gorf was an S-class demon.
He had basic physical abilities. Yet, he was being overwhelmed…
Silvia’s combat sense was dozens of times better than Adel’s.
Thud-!
As I blankly watched Gorf being helplessly beaten, a cheerful bell sound rang from below, drawing my attention.
My jaw dropped.
Amon’s body was sent flying like a ragdoll, crashing into a building.
“What the…”
Rolling my eyes to see what had happened, I saw Adel holding the bent body of a streetlamp with both hands, looking triumphant.
Apparently, when her fists weren’t enough, she had yanked out a streetlamp and swung it at Amon.
Truly a display of raw strength.
-You bitch…!
Whether he was caught off guard or just panicked, Amon, having taken an unexpected hit, began spewing evil energy, summoning his strength.
Amon’s body grew larger and larger, soon reaching the size of a four-story building.
“Whoa…! So big…!”
Despite the clear danger, Adel couldn’t help but marvel.
Amon swung his evil energy-clad fist down at her.
A strike with unmatched power and speed.
Unable to find a way to dodge, Adel crossed her arms and raised them above her head.
Crash-!
With a deafening sound, Amon’s fist drove her into the ground.
Others might have worried Adel had been flattened, but I had no doubt she was fine.
And as I expected,
Creak…!
Adel, embedded in the asphalt, slowly pushed Amon’s fist upward and climbed out.
The golden energy emanating from her body had grown even stronger.
It seemed she was now planning to use her divine power offensively.
Leaning back in the cockpit seat, I watched their battle unfold.
**
I thought the fight would be decided quickly once Adel started using her divine power seriously.
But I was mistaken.
Even after six hours of battle, Amon was still holding his own… well, more like enduring.
Though he couldn’t land any effective counterattacks, he somehow managed to dodge Adel’s purifications.
However, it seemed he had reached his limit, as his body looked on the verge of collapse.
Still, he had done well, draining Adel’s Aiter energy.
Feeling a bit emotional, I popped a piece of gum into my mouth and chewed as I checked on the other battles.
‘Orbas should be done soon.’
Gorf had already been defeated, and Orbas was struggling against Sehwa, Yuria, and Silvia.
Three Beast Slayers and the combined might of the U.S. military.
If it weren’t for his army of tens of thousands, he would have been dead long ago. Tough guy.
I turned my attention back to Amon.
-Groan…!
His body was a mess.
One shoulder was completely crushed, half of his beak was shattered, and black blood oozed from his entire body.
The massive evil energy that had surrounded him was almost gone.
The once imposing figure was nowhere to be seen, replaced by a pitiful crow scavenging for scraps.
In contrast, Adel was perfectly fine.
But her expression showed exhaustion.
“Huff… Phew…”
Letting out cute breaths, Adel steadied herself and, seeing the devastated surroundings, got back into stance.
Whoosh-!
A slightly weaker golden energy gathered around her fists.
“Hyah!”
Thud!
With a powerful cry, Adel kicked off the ground and charged upward.
This attack was different.
Before, she had simply pummeled Amon with brute force while he dodged her purifications. Now, she was channeling her divine power into her fists as she closed in.
She aimed to strike and purify simultaneously.
Though her speed was incredible, the attack’s simplicity made me sure Amon would dodge.
But,
-Groan…
Perhaps the accumulated damage had left him dizzy?
Or was he overwhelmed by the divine power?
Amon’s body swayed momentarily.
Whether it was a momentary lapse or something else, the result was devastating.
Crunch!
-Gurgle…!
Amon’s chest was pierced by Adel’s fist, and he let out a gurgling sound.
At the same time, the sound of flesh burning could be heard.
The nearly invisible evil energy vanished completely, and as the strength left Amon’s black eyes, Adel pulled her fist out and landed on the ground.
Black blood gushed from the hole in Amon’s chest.
It sizzled and burned as it came into contact with the golden energy swirling around the wound.
Amon, staring blankly at his injury, knelt down.
Thud!
His massive body returned to its original size, and after a moment of staring at Adel, he collapsed forward.
Watching this, I stretched.
‘He fought well without using hypnosis.’
Despite the unfavorable conditions where he couldn’t use his hypnosis, he exceeded expectations. I should send him off nicely.
As I thought this, I noticed evil energy beginning to surge from Amon’s fallen body.
Was he making a last-ditch effort?
Sssss…!
The evil energy slipped into the body of a trembling kitten among the rubble.
Hypnotized by Amon, the kitten stepped into the street and stared intently at Adel.
Adel, about to use her divine power to purify the evil energy, widened her eyes as human words, which should have been impossible, came from the kitten’s mouth.
-You are being deceived by the despicable Tairat.
Amon’s characteristic raspy voice.
With that warning, Amon’s body turned to dust and scattered into the air.
Amon, one of the top five strongest in the demon realm, met his end.
