“So, it’s fine to drive away gods we can get rid of and the list of gods we should possibly spare… Hmm. Since Mom has been asleep for 300 years, she probably doesn’t know much.”
“First of all, I do have a list of all the gods.”
Let’s just overlook how ridiculously long that list has become.
“That, is it so? Hmm… Then let’s do this. Let the kids and I make the list! We’ll create it in place of Mom… And we’ll handle the processing ourselves too! Right?”
Sylphid tries to persuade me by rolling her Golden Iris around. Her thoughts are as clear as day.
She’s probably planning to exclude any gods who have ties with them or are close friends.
Well, I don’t really care about that part though.
“Making the list is fine, but I can’t leave the processing to you kids.”
“Huh? So, is Mom going to do it herself?! If that happens, the world will be destroyed!!”
Sylphid’s bewildered statement. Nyx, standing nearby, tilts her head, not understanding why everyone’s acting this way.
“How could it be destroyed? What nonsense.”
“But…”
“I’m not going to recklessly destroy everything. I’ll use my Power of the Gods only when absolutely necessary… Hmm. I also plan to call upon Dragons and Golems.”
Having others do the destruction instead of me directly will minimize collateral damage.
“That, then… It should be okay. Yes. Anyway, we’ll quickly prepare the necessary list. Until then, you mustn’t annihilate any other gods. Understand?”
“Indeed. It’s not something that needs to be done immediately anyway.”
Take some time to look around the world and gather some useful kids. We’ll do that before getting to work.
“And, even if you kids make the list, it’s just for reference. I’ll consider your opinions to an extent, but I’ll check the details carefully myself, so don’t complain if it doesn’t go exactly according to the list.”
“Ah, ah. Yes! Even a little help from Mom will be enough!”
“And while making the list, I need to set a few conditions. It’ll make things easier for you guys when creating it.”
“Conditions?”
“Yes. Even if you say ‘this god should be spared,’ without a proper reason, I can’t accept the list, right? That’s why I’m setting the conditions for exclusion.”
If I don’t set these conditions, it seems like you’d just exclude gods based on personal relationships.
So…
“Firstly, any existence that has directly harmed the creatures of the Land, not just humans, will be targeted for removal.”
“Causing harm?”
“Yes. Even though I previously warned them not to descend directly to the earth… Now that Baal is gone, some might see it as an opportunity and disobey my orders by rampaging here.”
At my words, Sylphid nods slightly.
“Definitely, some gods were running amok on the surface. Shamash and I tried catching them, but…”
“Such gods will first have their Divinity confiscated, their Divine Body annihilated, and their Soul reincarnated as humans. There’s no reason to leave those who cause harm to other lives unchecked.”
“Yes, understood. Are there any other conditions?”
Other conditions? Hmm…
We need to reduce the number of gods, so we should eliminate those who are clearly unworthy of being gods due to their weakness.
Weakness isn’t a sin, but to reduce the number of gods, it can’t be helped.
“Gods who possess extremely weak power should either be destroyed or step down from their positions.”
“Weak gods?”
“Yes. For example, gods of small rivers or hills who seem trivial compared to what a god should be.”
“Eliminating weak gods?”
“Yes. Hmm. Ah, perhaps using Faith as the benchmark would be better. That might be clearer.”
After all, a god’s strength is determined by the amount of Faith they receive.
Even gods born from insignificant things can be sufficient if they receive faith from many people.
“Gods with little Faith… Just that alone will make quite a few gods disappear, but will it be alright?”
“It’s fine. When was the world ever overflowing with gods? There won’t be any problem.”
Back in the day, there weren’t even gods! It was just me alone!
Though back then, there wasn’t much life either.
“Then… Will those gods also be reincarnated as humans?”
“Hmm. Annihilating them and turning them into humans might be cruel. Hmm… No, changing them into elemental spirits would be better.”
“Elemental spirits?”
At Sylphid’s words, I nod.
The souls of those who were once Dragons, now existing purely through Magical Power after shedding their physical forms.
If they can exist like that, relying on Magical Power instead of Faith, wouldn’t gods be able to exist as elemental spirits too?
No, freed from dependence on the Faith of other beings, they could remain as pure entities without being corrupted by the beliefs of living creatures.
They wouldn’t have to endure the distortion caused by the faith of others anymore.
Even if they don’t become elemental spirits specifically, existing as fairies or similar beings should suffice.
As long as they’re no longer gods, anything should be fine.
“Elemental spirits… Hmm… It might be better than expected. They should at least maintain their essence.”
“Then spread the word to the other children.”
Normally, I’d have to personally visit each child to explain, but if I leave it to Sylphid, everything will be much simpler.
Like a story spreading on the wind, Sylphid will play the role of delivering the message to the other children.
“Yes! Leave it to me! I’ll be off then!”
“You’ll likely find me gone by the time you’ve delivered the message to everyone. But go ahead.”
That way, I watched Sylphid leave the Temple of Baal, hurrying to deliver the message to the other children.
“Then… Let’s calmly listen to what happened during the 300 years.”
Nyx, slightly tense. To ease her tension, I conjure up a simple snack and place it on the table before looking at her.
I may have heard the general events, but hearing the detailed story from the person involved is best.
“Yes…! A lot has happened. It was really tough.”
Nyx begins her complaints. It seems she endured hardships in Baal’s absence.
Alright, let’s hear her out thoroughly.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
In the dark cave.
Within the highest Mountain, Sagarmatha.
Inside, six beings sat around a round table, leaning their Heads together to discuss.
“Hmm… It seems Mom is angry?”
“Judging from the rough story. That seems to be the case.”
Shamash and Thetis speak first, followed by Sagarmatha continuing the conversation.
“Yes. She’s definitely angry. This is a huge deal.”
“Still, unlike before, it seems she’s not smashing everything.”
Igdrasil’s comment is answered by Sylphid, who gathered everyone and brought the story.
“But it’s clear she’s mad. At the front of Baal’s Temple, she instantly decapitated Zeus who was causing chaos.”
“Zeus’ head? That guy might be foolish, but he’s a Great God with considerable power.”
At Ifrit’s words, Sylphid nods.
“That guy absorbed a significant amount of Sky’s power and authority. Not as strong as us, but still a powerful god.”
“To sever his head instantly… Hmm… Though we might be capable of severing his head, doing it in the blink of an eye…”
“Unless you’re as fast as Shamash or Sylphid, it would be difficult, right?”
To Tethys’ words, Shamash and Sylphid shake their heads in denial.
“We have poor Compatibility with Spirits, so we wouldn’t be able to capture him in one go. We’d have to overpower him physically.”
“Yeah. That guy had speed and destructive power.”
These six gods, known as Ancient Gods or Primordial Gods to others, sighed deeply.
“Anyway, we need to create the list as Mom desires.”
“First, Zeus… There’s no way to save him no matter what.”
“That guy’s absence won’t matter much, will it?”
Tethys said curtly. It seems she disliked Zeus intensely for once trying to manipulate her.
“Hmm. Among the Aesir clan, there aren’t many worth saving.”
“Really? Igdrasil, weren’t you close to those guys?”
“That’s just them annoyingly asking for power. They even tried bothering the Elves.”
Igdrasil shakes her head repeatedly.
“Besides, those guys… They secretly stole usable Souls.”
“Souls?! Did such a thing happen? How?”
“They disguised their lower-ranking goddesses as Grim Reapers and secretly collected Souls. The gods of the Underworld haven’t noticed yet.”
“Igdrasil. How do you know about that?”
At Sylphid’s question, Igdrasil frowns deeply and answers.
“When those idiots tried meddling with the Elves’ Souls, I lightly beat them up, plucked their Wings, and pinned tree roots into their Arms and Legs to turn them into specimens. After that, they started spilling everything.”
“Why would they do such a thing…? If they got caught tampering with Souls, Mom wouldn’t stay quiet.”
“Well, the leader of the Aesir clan lost his mind after obtaining the Silver Wisdom of the Sky. Completely went crazy after gaining it, ranting about impending Destruction… Oops!”
Igdrasil’s expression changed as if realizing something.
“Could that one-eyed guy losing his mind… Be because he foresaw the Future?”
“The Future?”
“Yes. The events that will occur after Mom returns. The coming Destruction of the gods after Baal’s disappearance.”
Then the expressions of the others also changed.
“That’s right. The Wisdom of the Sky is Baal’s wisdom, so he must have inherited a considerable amount of Baal’s Memories… He would have also learned of Mom’s existence.”
“Yes. The predetermined Destruction.”
At Sagarmatha’s words, everyone else simply nodded.
