Episode 19: Restia Panic
“Kurosaki-kun, you’re unusually late…?”
In the Botany Preparation Room within the academy, the instructor, Rina Restia, muttered to herself.
She had asked her student, Shion, to help with class preparations and had sent him to fetch some equipment from the Equipment Storage.
While continuing her own work, Restia waited for his return, but it was taking him an unusually long time, which bothered her.
“(The Equipment Storage is a bit far from here, but should it really take this long…?)”
Restia was puzzled, but considering that the academy’s Equipment Storage housed various types of equipment beyond just what was used for Plant Magic classes, it was entirely possible that Shion hadn’t found the specific equipment she had requested.
She concluded that this was probably the reason for the delay.
…In reality, Shion was in the Duel Arena, engaged in a duel with Eliza Rowlett, but Restia had no way of knowing that.
“Sigh, I should have gone with him.”
Restia lamented.
For her, that would have been the ideal situation.
When conducting experiments in her Plant Magic class, a fair amount of preparation was necessary, including equipment, soil, and plant seeds for each student.
However, these preparations weren’t something she couldn’t handle alone; she didn’t absolutely need someone’s help.
Still, she used the class preparations as an excuse to spend time with Shion.
What was important to her wasn’t having Shion run errands but preparing together with him.
So, the current situation, where Shion had gone alone to the Equipment Storage, was far from ideal for Restia.
The cause of this predicament was an incident a few days prior.
A few days ago, Rina Restia had accidentally fallen on top of Shion, ending up in a position where their noses were almost touching, and they remained embraced for a while.
Remembering this incident when she faced Shion earlier, Restia had stumbled over her words and blushed.
Seeing Restia acting strangely, Shion grew concerned, but she brushed it off and quickly asked him to go fetch the equipment from the Equipment Storage.
As a result, Shion was taking much longer to return than expected, and now Restia was gloomily preparing for class alone.
“Sigh… Why am I so conscious of a student…? …Ah!”
At that moment, Restia had a sudden realization.
“…Wait, why am I the only one feeling this way?!”
With that, Restia stood in front of a full-length mirror in the preparation room.
“I’ve always only been interested in plants, so I never paid much attention, but I do get a lot of attention from men, and my features are quite good… right?”
Restia positively assessed her reflection in the mirror, though objectively, her evaluation was still modest—she was undeniably exceptionally beautiful.
“And my chest is quite large too… Isn’t it rare for a man not to react to this…?”
She lightly lifted her chest from the sides with both hands to confirm its size.
“Or maybe I’m not making enough of a feminine appeal…? For example, like this…”
Saying this, Restia undid the top three buttons of her blouse, revealing her cleavage, and leaned forward to show it in the mirror.
“…!! Wow… If I do this, even I can be quite──”
…That’s when it happened.
“──Excuse me. Sorry for being late…”
“…………”
“…………”
…Shion, who had just entered the room, made direct eye contact with Restia’s reflection in the mirror.
──Immediately after, Shion was instantly bound head-to-toe by thick vines, completely immobilized.
“Teacher, wait, please stop this.”
“…It’s okay, Kurosaki-kun!! If all goes well, you’ll just lose your memory of today!!”
“Teacher, I learned in your class. If I drink that liquid you’re holding, it won’t just erase a day’s memory. Please don’t act rashly, seriously.”
Restia, holding a bottle filled with a sinister-colored liquid, had completely lost her sanity.
“(…Crap, I’m really going to die here!!)”
…It took a considerable amount of time and Shion’s desperate persuasion for Restia to regain her senses.
Shion later said that he had never felt a more real threat of death in his life…
