Chapter 186: Come Here!
In the face of this situation, Mork honestly didn’t know how to calm them down for a moment.
Well, what could he do? His earlier performance really wasn’t impressive!
The changes in the emotions of the Dark Elf Soldiers weren’t just noticed by Mork; the humans also caught wind of it.
Airael, while engaging in a momentum match with Mork, smiled and said, “Mork, you guys are definitely losing this time!”
Her confident remark had quite the impact on the morale of the Dark Elves.
Mork’s expression turned even darker.
He knew he couldn’t just keep dragging this out with Airael.
The morale of the Dark Elves was already in shambles, and even if he somehow managed to outlast Airael, it would be of no use.
Thus, Mork resolutely ceased his momentum contest with Airael.
But while he stopped, Airael had no intentions of letting up; she continued to pressure Mork and the Dark Elves with her commanding presence.
Although Mork was less affected, the absence of their leader’s momentum left the Dark Elves feeling quite miserable under Airael’s oppressive aura.
Given what had just happened, their spirits were already low.
And it felt like Airael was their nemesis, stirring a natural sense of dread within them.
Seeing Airael pressing her advantage, Mork’s face turned an even deeper shade of gloom.
“Soldiers, kill them! Sacrifice them to the great god!”
With his furious shout, Mork charged forward.
His target was none other than Airael.
Under Mork’s rallying cry, the morale of the Dark Elves improved somewhat, and they charged into battle alongside him.
Meanwhile, the humans, under Airael and Cain’s command, began to actively respond to the dark elves’ counterattack, with Mondi assisting them from the sidelines.
Though the Dark Elves, led by Mork, had an unstoppable charge, they weren’t nearly as effective on the flanks and rear.
Mork was the only real powerhouse.
Airael and Cain were well aware of this fact.
They crafted a strategy specifically to deal with the situation.
That meant they would focus on holding back Mork while launching an all-out attack on the Dark Elves’ sides.
As for the rear, they left that to Mondi.
But despite this, the humans still paid a heavy price.
Anyone targeted by Mork had no chance of escape.
They were either severely wounded and near death or struck down immediately.
Not to mention, they suffered a significant psychological blow.
In their last moments (or just before falling), their eyes were filled with pure fear when looking at Mork.
And the Dark Elf soldiers following Mork displayed exceptional combat prowess, easily overpowering the human soldiers.
Though this part was a bit more complicated than facing Mork, they still managed just fine.
Airael, the intended target of Mork, felt immense pressure as she surveyed the battlefield.
Even though she cast some supportive magic for the human soldiers, the gap in strength between them and Mork was far too great; it hardly made a difference—she was simply wasting mana.
She could only watch as Mork closed in on her, step by step.
As for Cain, he had already thrown himself into the fray.
However, instead of clashing with Mork, he led a charge against the Dark Elves’ side.
With this arrangement, Airael was left in a precarious situation.
Airael realized just how dangerous her position was.
She watched Mork relentlessly advancing toward her.
Though reluctant, she ultimately decided to reposition herself.
I’m not running; this is a strategic retreat!
As a mage with weak close combat skills, how could she let a powerful warrior close in on her!
While fleeing, she shifted her focus away.
To ensure she didn’t stand out too much, Airael dismounted her horse and blended into the crowd.
With her petite build mingling among the throng, combined with the effect of her cloak, Mork would need a stroke of incredible luck to find her; otherwise, it’d take him quite an effort.
After cutting down a blocking human soldier with a swipe of his sword, Mork looked ahead.
At that moment, he realized he had lost sight of his target.
Airael had disappeared from view.
Currently, Airael had found a little alley and slipped inside.
Hiding there, she didn’t care about her public image and took a deep breath.
That had been way too close!
But that ominous power was truly strong!
She had tried using magic to block Mork earlier, but it was far less effective than before.
This meant that power granted Mork significant magical resistance.
He could handle mages with much more ease.
Airael felt that he could completely nullify any magic below advanced level.
Even her own high-level magic, which was beyond typical hero-tier spells, hardly posed a threat to him.
After a good while, Airael finally peeked her little head out of the alley to assess the battlefield.
Without Airael as a major target, Mork began rampaging through the human soldiers.
But upon closer observation, it became evident he was closing in on Cain.
This is bad!
Watching Mork advance like a force of nature, Airael’s mood plummeted.
If things kept going like this, they might end up losing!
Thus, Airael decided it was time to take action.
She climbed to the rooftop and gazed down at Mork, who was wreaking havoc among the crowd, as she began to unleash her magic to support the human soldiers once more.
Airael’s magic returned to the fray, quickly catching Mork’s attention.
He paused his fighting and surveyed his surroundings.
Soon enough, his gaze zeroed in on Airael perched atop the roof.
As soon as Mork spotted her, Airael was already looking back at him.
“Mork! I’m right here, come here!”
Though her words were few, combined with her beckoning gesture, the level of teasing reached maximum capacity.
Without hesitation, Mork abandoned the nearby human soldiers and lunged toward Airael.
Seeing Mork charging in, Airael whipped around and took off running.
She hastily cast various supportive spells on herself.
Though the effects weren’t super noticeable, she still threw some negative magic toward Mork, weakening him even just a little was an improvement.
However, after barely sprinting a short distance, Airael noticed Mork had not followed her at all.
