Chapter 186: Roar of the Snow Mountain Dragon
Afterwards, the newcomers arrived at their final destination for the visit and tour—the Northern Lookout Tower.
Through the winding mountain roads, facing the swirling snow, the air grew increasingly cold. The car windows were covered with a thin layer of mist.
A delicate finger emerged from the sleeve, drawing a tiny sun on the fog-covered glass, with a smiley face in the middle.
Lolan Hill watched the silhouette at the window, a smile playing on her lips.
“Not bad,” she said.
The silhouette turned around in surprise, trying to shield itself awkwardly.
“Sorry, I was just doodling. It’s a bad habit I picked up.”
“It’s not bad at all. It looks good.”
“I don’t really know how to draw. Nia shook her head. As a resident of the grasslands, survival and supporting her tribe were the most important things. Everything else was considered frivolous.”
“You seemed quite proficient. It looked nice.”
“Well, I guess it’s a habit I formed as a child.”
“Living in the north, winters are long and harsh, so I’ve always loved sunny days.”
“When I was little, an uncle jokingly said that if I drew a sun, it would come out. I believed him back then and drew many. Even after learning the truth, I couldn’t break the habit.”
“Later, when studying the Extraordinary Sequence, I chose something related to fire, hoping to bring warmth to everyone.”
“Nia, if you do it, I believe you can achieve it.”
Lolan Hill looked at the shy girl, offering encouragement.
“Thank you, Lolan.” Nia felt a warmth in her heart. It was the first time someone had encouraged her like this.
As the magitech vehicle ascended higher, the world behind them became smaller. When it rounded a large bend, the view of Emanas reappeared before everyone, but this time it was different.
Sparse white clouds drifted slowly across the sky. Through the clouds, the magnificent canyon and mountains below could be seen. A vast river wound its way from afar, its waters flowing endlessly. North of the river was a picturesque campus, with neatly arranged squares, gardens, buildings, and roads laid out on the ground. Green sprouts and flowers adorned the streets, and occasionally, tiny human figures could be seen walking among them.
“How beautiful.”
Some students couldn’t help but exclaim. At that moment, the magitech vehicle slowly came to a stop. The snow-covered peak tower began to appear before everyone.
“How cold.”
“I should have worn more layers.”
“Didn’t the teacher say it was very cold here yesterday?”
After Lolan Hill and others got off the vehicle, a piercing winter wind hit their faces and sides, quickly stealing away their warmth. Although spring had arrived at the foot of the mountain, it seemed to still be winter here. Many upperclassmen wore thick robes.
“I finally understand why students of the Magic Sequence love wearing mage robes. It’s because it’s cold.”
“Why don’t the Dragon Sequence wear them? They’re all here.”
“Probably because the Extraordinary Beings of the Dragon Sequence are very strong.”
“Nia, Nia.” Alena ran over, stomping her feet.
“What—”
Before Nia could speak, a pair of cold hands pressed against her face, startling her.
“Haha, how is it?” Alena laughed mischievously.
Nia’s cheeks flushed slightly as she removed Alena’s hands and then reached into Alena’s neck, causing her to scream.
“Oh no, Nia, please let me go. I’m sorry.”
After a brief chase, they continued running around on the open ground.
Watching this scene, Lolan Hill found it amusing. Suddenly, she turned around and saw a sneaky figure behind her.
“Letis, what are you up to?”
“Oh, nothing, Lolan. I was just coming over to meet you.”
“Ah!”
Lolan Hill acted first, pinching Letis’ face, perhaps only she didn’t care about Letis’ status as a noble lady.
“Lolan, you!” Letis looked furious and reached out, and the two started wrestling in the open ground.
After the newcomers got off the vehicle and waited a bit, the subsequent students joined them in entering the school at the peak of the mountain.
Walking on the catwalk between the towers, the abyss below and the howling wind made the students nervous. The icy chains hanging from the iron bars left frost on them, and holding them for too long could make one’s hand stick to the stone columns. Despite good railings, some students still felt terrified, and their voices naturally became softer.
“Look over there!”
A student shouted, and everyone turned their gaze. Two enormous figures chased each other in the distant sky and valley. They were further north in the academy, in a desolate ice-capped mountain range.
Roar—
The distant dragon roar echoed through the clouds. Two dragons battled in the sky, one white and one black. The white dragon was elegant, with a long neck, flapping its wings and spewing extremely cold breath, freezing the mountain peaks where the black dragon retreated. Even from kilometers away, the new students on the iron chain bridge could feel the ice shards brought by the northern wind, making them shiver until a teacher activated a protective barrier.
Then, the black dragon swooped down from the sky, colliding with the white dragon against the mountain wall. The two dragons rolled down the mountain, stirring up countless snowflakes, until they finally landed in the valley, creating a wave of snow.
Red flames erupted from the black dragon’s mouth, forming a thick line, scorching the white dragon’s wings. The white dragon flapped its wings defiantly, sending silver-white frost breath directly at the flames. The intense heat and cold momentarily held each other in check, distorting the vision with rising steam.
“How powerful.” The intense magical fluctuations could be clearly felt even from such a distance.
“That’s not one of the academy’s dragons. They’re amazing, amazing, amazing,” exclaimed a newcomer, unable to contain their excitement.
“No, that’s not it.”
The teacher lowered the protective barrier and turned to the excited students.
“They are your seniors from the Dragon Sequence.”
Suddenly, a loud explosion sounded from afar, and the two dragons disappeared. After the dust settled, two blurry figures floated in the wind and snow, still facing each other in the air. The dragon roars continued to echo through the mountains.
