Chapter 174

Chapter 174 Life Game

The paper map of the world was much larger than the school map before, and there were more actions available. It was somewhat similar to the tabletop role-playing games of later times.

After everyone moved forward on the big map, the characters of each young lady underwent significant changes.

”Nia moves three steps forward and enters the Northern Grassland area, where you can advance to become a beastman,” Bumansa reminded them.

”I’ll choose this one.” Nia flipped through the setting sheet and pointed to one option for Bumansa to see, who nodded in agreement.

Nia advanced to War Sequence 5 · Flame Great Axe, gaining the ability to attack with flames. Her attributes changed to Attack 24 – Health 23 – Charisma 4. She currently had 500 followers and 300 coins. (Each follower must pay one coin every three rounds.)

”Then I want to claim this territory,” Nia applied according to the game rules; she didn’t have much money left.

”Alright, do you want to take it by force or buy it?” Bumansa asked further.

”Let’s fight, I don’t have much money,” Nia shook her head.

”Alright, the combat strength of your followers will increase based on your own strength, codex skills, and combat skills.”

”The final comprehensive combat strength is 4128 > 3000.” (A roll greater than 72 on a d100 is required to pass.)

The dice result was [74], indicating success. Nia, along with her subordinates and brothers, caused a commotion in her hometown, driving out the existing ruler and claiming a piece of land in the Northern Grassland. She became the local tribal leader and received the title “Great Chieftain.”

”Nia really caught up later on,” Letis said enviously. Her character was still running a shop to earn money, and she also rolled the dice.

Letis moved to an event square, drew a card, and encountered a major epidemic event.

Then Bumansa happily announced, “Because the restrooms in Letis’s shop are better than those of the surrounding shops, many customers come just to use the restroom, indirectly earning her a lot of popularity. The shop’s level has been upgraded to Level 4, increasing monthly income by 100 coins.”

”Hehehe, Queen of Restrooms, Letis,” Alena couldn’t help but counterattack.

”What? How could such an event happen?” Letis opened her fan, covering her eyes, not believing it.

Then it was Lily’s turn. She rolled the dice and moved to the square of the capital of the Azure Moon Kingdom.

”I want to meet Prince!” Lily excitedly shouted.

”Reputation greater than 150 allows for a determination.” (A roll greater than 65 on a d100 is required to pass.)

”The dice result is [25], the determination failed.”

Today, I’m not in a good mood and don’t want to see you,” Bumansa declared mercilessly.

“Ah, it’s rare that I stack my stats and charm so high,” Lily looked at her character, Sequence 4 Cyan Illusion Dancer, Attack 16 – Health 16 – Charm 15, then said unwillingly.

“If only I could marry a prince, I could make a fortune and get lots of land for free.”

Then came Alena. This young lady seemed to be aiming for a Beast Tamer route, but due to starting as a Silver Elf, she had low affinity with animals. Currently, she had only tamed three Demonic Beasts: Sequence 2 Black Mountain Boar, Sequence 3 Crimson Striped Leopard, and Sequence 1 Sliding Duck.

Rolling the dice to move forward, Northern Grassland square, just a short distance away from Nia’s territory, an event occurred, draw a card.

“On the grassland, you encountered a large plague. Due to your proficiency in herbal knowledge, you helped the locals resolve the epidemic. They decided to teach you a certain ability,” Bumansa announced.

“Let me see, what abilities can I choose from,” Alena picked up the rulebook.

“I’ll choose this one, Demonic Beast Reproduction Science, allowing mass breeding of Demonic Beasts.” She excitedly held up the book, finally obtaining this crucial ability.

“Alright, do you want to use it now?” Bumansa continued to ask.

“Mm-hm, right now, let’s use it on the Crimson Striped Leopard.” (Sequence 3 increases difficulty, d100 > 85 is required for success.)

“The dice result is [12], a major failure. The Crimson Striped Leopard died due to complications during birth,” Bumansa announced regretfully.

“Oh no, why? My little leopard,” Alena hugged the orange cat, rubbing her face against it, causing the cat to look annoyed and try to push her away with its paws.

Next was Vimya. After graduating, she used seeds to gain the current square and planted peanuts on it, earning +40 money per round.

Vimya rolled the dice to move forward, landing on a square with an unexpected event, drew a card, and encountered a Witch.

“This is interesting,” Bumansa took out a few cards, letting Vimya draw again. After some hesitation, Vimya finally drew one.

“Red Witch – Keti, can destroy all characters and buildings on a square.”

“Woah, this is something else,” Lily exclaimed, flipping over a card with a background of red flames. The card surface seemed to be coated with a rainbow hue, reflecting a spectrum of colors under the light. A Witch wearing a magic hat stood with arms spread wide, back facing the flames, seemingly laughing madly or crying, though only her mouth was drawn, not her eyes.

“Now, which square should Vimya choose to destroy?” Bumansa asked curiously.

“There’s no way to not destroy it?” Vimya said, finding it difficult, her voice showing some unease.

“It’s not possible. The witch card has a mandatory effect; you must choose one,” Bumansa explained.

“Then let’s choose a square that has neither people nor buildings,” Vimya could only respond this way.

“There are no squares without people or buildings except for the sea,” Letis looked at the map and said.

“This…” Vimya hesitated for a moment before nodding. It was just a game after all, she told herself, and then pointed to a square.

“Flames fell upon the sea, drying up nearly a thousand miles of ocean, turning the seabed sands into glass. All life was wiped out, but soon the sea water flowed back again,” Bumansa announced, then looked at Vimya before placing down the witch card in her hand.

Next came Lolan Hill. Roll the dice to move forward, entering the event square. Due to your immense reputation, even the prince has heard of your legend, and he decides to propose to you. [Accept/Reject]

“Of course I’ll reject it,” Lolan Hill smiled, her long black hair swaying along with her.

“But the prince has great power; you may not be able to completely refuse him.” (The difficulty increases due to the status gap, requiring a d100 roll greater than 90 to pass.)

“Is the prince so domineering?” Alena casually remarked.

“The domineering prince is my favorite,” Lily declared dreamily.

“Seems like marrying the prince wouldn’t be bad either,” Letis thought aloud.

“I still hope Lolan can gain her freedom on her own,” Nia whispered softly beside her.

Two ten-sided dice were thrown into a bowl, spinning inside, as everyone awaited the result.

An orange figure leaped down, running off, its feet stepping on the bowl, sending the two dice flying out, rolling into the gaps in the mat.

“The cat ran away,” Nia softly said, watching the flower cat escape from their grasp.

“Oh, silly cat, don’t run around, or I won’t be able to protect you either,” Alena stood up and hurriedly chased after it.

Just as everyone was about to go look for the cat and take a rest, a clear voice came from nearby.

“I’ve woken up,” a girl with milky-white twin tails stood at the bedroom door. She was rather petite, looking about 14 years old. Her silver eyes observed the chaotic scene inside, her face exquisite and flawless, like a doll.

Thank you to the strongest artificial intelligence. The Milky Way scattered in your pupils, my heart like a gentle breeze. The eye of God, four points of donation~
