Chapter 33: Comfort
On the fourth floor of the Dormitory, right outside their window downstairs, a few girls from the Broadcasting Department were reading books.
They say the morning is the best time to plan your day. As third-year students, they needed to put in effort for their graduation projects.
Though that’s what they said, it had been over a month since the start of the school year, and this was the first time they actually tried to seriously read their books. There had simply been too much going on lately. The entire Tianhai City was in turmoil, and Tianhai University was at the center of the storm.
The legendary milk cow of Tianhai University, the goddess of the Broadcasting Department who had won the campus beauty pageant three times in a row and had already secured the championship for the fourth one a year early, turned out to be the big boss of Tianhai City these days, and she lived right above them.
But as the new little Teacher Fang had rightly pointed out a few days ago, no matter how drastically life changes, being in the third year meant they still had to think about graduating. So today, they had deliberately set their alarms to get up and agreed to study together.
Forget everything else, let’s just pass those Level Four and Six exams first… The first word is abandon…
Splash!
A strange sound came from the ceiling, and all the girls in the room looked up curiously.
”What was that?”
”I don’t know, but it sounded like something big collapsed and fell onto the ground.”
The group exchanged glances, speculating on the cause, after all, the person living upstairs was none other than her.
”I think she might be practicing water magic,” said the girl who usually liked playing with her mobile phone, “I’ve used it in games before, it’s pretty powerful.”
The others thought it made sense.
What else could it be? It’s too early in the morning for anything else…
And besides, the noise was too loud, not that kind of lewdness.
……
This couldn’t be blamed on Bai Ling.
It was Yuan Xiaoling asking her every minute, “Are you emptying your mind?”
”Have you emptied your brain?”
Sometimes even while humming, asking questions.
”The origin of the great thousand Buddha Dharma, hmm~ what is it? It’s Wukong… hmm~ is it empty? Wukong, ah! You must be empty to understand… um!”
The soft voice of the young girl, like the seductive sounds from beyond the Western Heavens, penetrated through the eardrums straight into Bai Ling’s heart, imprinting itself like a brand before any program in her CPU.
So driven by this goal, she surged toward Xiaoling.
”Hmm~”
Yuan Xiaoling was initially quite comfortable, thinking it was just another routine experience.
Until her small bed collapsed with a thunderous crash, the steel-reinforced bed frame breaking piece by piece, clanging loudly as it hit the ground, did she realize something wasn’t right.
She turned back, looking at Bai Ling with a questioning gaze, implying, “What are you doing?”
This kind of strength, do you think my… supply is unlimited?
Bai Ling tightened her delicate face, remaining silent. The damage to the bed frame was caused by unconsciously emitted mental power, not directed at the frail young girl.
Like a tornado and the eye of the storm, the center was paradoxically safe.
But Yuan Xiaoling started to panic: “That’s enough, it’s already enough.”
”But I haven’t reached the state you mentioned,” Bai Ling expressionlessly replied, “There are still distractions in my mind.”
Not filled with anything else yet, so it’s not complete.
”There’s… more!”
Xiaoling thought to herself, are your distractions jellyfish-like, getting stronger the more you go?
”But the bed has collapsed,” the Blonde-haired Maiden pretended to stay calm, blinking her eyes as she suggested, “Why don’t we stop here today? We can divide your distractions into several treatments, deal with it a bit today, then take a couple of days to settle?”
Bai Ling looked around and her eyes lit up, “Isn’t there still two beds here?”
Strange, where were the two beds? Following her gaze, Yuan Xiaoling’s face paled.
”Those are our roommate’s beds!”
”Change the sheets, and they’ll be yours, just borrowing the bed frames.”
”That’s not possible… Ah!”
On the Beach, Gu Hui and Qiao Lili were leisurely sunbathing, completely unaware of what was happening at the school.
Qiao Lili lay under a large umbrella, idly pulling out her mobile phone to check. She saw a new post on the school forum. It was from a girl living below Yuan Xiaoling’s dormitory, saying that early in the morning, they heard loud noises from upstairs, suspecting that Miss Water Dragon was practicing new magic.
”This forum talk is quite funny, saying Xiaoling is practicing skills,” Qiao Lili chuckled, “Probably just accidentally tripped and fell off the bed.”
Gu Hui didn’t give it much thought, responding with a simple “Mm-hmm.”
”But if you think about it, she should be waking up soon,” Qiao Lili said, “We can head back after lunch.”
”Mm-hmm.”
……
”Mm~!”
Yuan Xiaoling indeed fell off the bed, but she didn’t fall to the ground. A gentle mental force caught her.
Then the mental force lifted her upward, combining with its master’s hands for an upper-lower combo attack.
Then splash, the last bed frame collapsed, accompanied by the young girl’s sobbing, everything returned to nothingness.
The bed was gone, but fortunately, there were plenty of bedding. Bai Ling used mental force to arrange them properly, gently placing the tide-ridden Miss Water Dragon on top, then wobbling to the window to breathe in some fresh air.
Wobbling because her legs felt a bit weak.
Her heart seemed to have calmed down somewhat, as if everything she thought about now carried a “we’ll see” desensitized feeling.
Emmmmm, this must be what they call the Sage State…
”Alright, you can finally tell me now, what’s the stress?” Yuan Xiaoling’s voice rang out.
Bai Ling turned back and saw the young girl lying sideways on the mattress in a _(:з」∠)_ pose, looking spirited, with decent stamina to maintain such a burning posture.
Just as she was pondering, she heard a pupa~pupa~ sound, realizing there was a Little Water Jellyfish nearby, providing the Blonde-haired Maiden with continuous vitality recovery.
Bai Ling wanted to go over and leech some recovery, but the Little Water Jellyfish flitted away.
”Not for you,” Yuan Xiaoling puffed out her cheeks, angrily saying, “You’re tired all on your own.”
Eat my tricks and mess with me? Not happening, Lemon isn’t taking this injustice.
Bai Ling didn’t care, finding a relatively intact small chair and using mental force to pull it over and sit down. After all, it was just a bit of leg weakness, rest for a while and it would be fine.
If worse comes to worst, she could always go to the cafeteria and drink some nourishing soup. The chefs there had been particularly friendly to her lately, and they could spare half a hen easily.
”Actually, it’s nothing major,” she thought for a moment and slowly said, “It’s just that the enemy is too powerful, I’m afraid I might fail, a bit… scared.”
Bai Ling realized that the Sage State was truly effective, making her feel very calm and peaceful. Things she couldn’t normally bring herself to say suddenly became easy to express.
Of course, it wasn’t entirely easy; after speaking, she felt a bit nervous, unsure of Yuan Xiaoling’s reaction.
”Isn’t that normal?” The Blonde-haired Maiden propped her cheek with one hand while rubbing her waist with the other, “Who doesn’t have pressure? Who isn’t afraid?”
Hearing her say that, Bai Ling quietly sighed in relief.
Since her rebirth, she had always portrayed an image of omnipotence in front of Yuan Xiaoling, strong and invincible. Now admitting she was afraid of the enemy’s power, she had feared being harshly ridiculed.
Unexpectedly, this little female devil who usually loved to ride roughshod over her instead comforted her on this matter.
