Chapter 161: Rainbow Grapes
“Does this mean Xiao Lolan is going to Emanas?”
“Mm-hm, I want to see it myself. I should meet people from all over.”
“That’s true. The view from Night Mistress’ place is indeed beautiful.”
Tides recalled how she once held Night Mistress like a doll, then usurped her position and transformed into her, playing pranks as if they were twins. Back then, Night Mistress was a quiet loli with a small heart, and other witches liked to tease her.
“Is Headmistress Night Mistress also a witch?”
Lolan Hill had heard this name from Lanlier before.
“Yes, apart from the central school building, Emanas is divided into four colleges. Night Mistress is the headmistress of the Tower College, which overlooks everything.”
“She almost always stays in the observatory at the very top of the tower. When you go there, you’ll find it’s a room filled with books. The loli sitting at the far end, like a porcelain doll, is Night Mistress.”
“When you first meet her, you can ask for a book; she will definitely not refuse.”
“It’s not appropriate to ask for something right away when meeting someone.”
“Hehe, don’t worry. Even if you don’t say anything, she might still give you a book to record things. She’s the Witch of Books, and the books she gives have magical powers, quite wondrous.” Tides smiled.
“The book she gave me back then was the Book of Flames, which can record and store various types of flames for later release. Unfortunately, I broke it later.”
“Can flames be recorded?” Lolan Hill was curious; flames should be in an ionized state.
“Yes, similar to sealing, she records everything into a book. This is the power of the Witch of Books, Night Mistress.”
I really want to see that, Lolan thought.
“Are you planning to follow the Demon Sequence in the future?”
Tides looked at her junior with surprise. She had originally thought Lolan would most likely follow the Angel Sequence, Natural Sequence, or perhaps inherit Crystalsha’s legacy and take the Necromancer Sequence or Magic Sequence. But Lolan was already at Demon Sequence Level 4.
It wasn’t that the Demon Sequence was bad, but those who followed it were either extreme in personality or had deep obsessions, fitting the combat style typical of the Demon Sequence.
“I haven’t decided yet,” Lolan could switch sequences freely, so she wanted to try them all.
“Is that so? That’s fine too. Since you haven’t reached Sequence 5, any path you choose won’t be wrong.” Tides nodded thoughtfully, then took out a semi-transparent purple gem.
“This gem contains knowledge of the Necromancer Sequence, summarized by me and Sister Hedi over the past thousand years. It should be more complete than what Sister Crystalsha has, and you can use it as a reference.”
“Although I don’t recommend taking the Necromancer Sequence, the knowledge about souls in it is beneficial regardless of which sequence you follow.”
“Thank you, Sister Tides.” This time, Lolan didn’t decline, perhaps because she felt more confident after her journey to the Southern Region.
Seeing Lolan accept it, Tides was also pleased, then handed her a letter to give to Night Mistress upon arriving at Emanas, though she didn’t reveal its contents.
They talked for a while longer. Worried that her naive and adorable junior might be deceived by cunning people, Tides curiously asked Lolan why she protected Clancia and some details about it. Only then did she nod slightly in relief.
“You shouldn’t use your powers extensively in the future unless you reach Sequence 9. The cost of such miracles is beyond your means.”
“Fortunately, Sister Crystalsha’s hairpin played a role. Otherwise, your reckless actions could have seriously injured you, and you might have fallen into a long slumber again.”
As they continued their conversation, night fell and dinner time arrived. Unlike usual, Lolan prepared a sumptuous meal herself and gave her senior a jar of golden maple syrup as a thank you.
“How delicious~” Despite her long life, Tides still acted like a young girl, enjoying sweet treats. She picked up a golden sugar cube and placed it in her mouth.
“Do you have anything else tasty? I can bring some for Hedi, Su Qin, and Feibi. They can exchange for good things for you.”
“There are some, but unfortunately, there isn’t much.”
Lolan thought about the new crop she recently developed, a pearl-grade extraordinary crop. Although she tried using her Natural Sequence ability to accelerate its growth, the yield was still very low.
“Wait a moment.”
Lolan walked to a corner behind the house, where a short vine was surrounded by a fence. The vine had emerald leaves and clusters of differently colored fruits, like grapes.
The young lady carefully picked the only two ripe clusters and brought them back into the house.
Two clusters of rainbow-colored grapes were placed on a clean plate on the table.
[Rainbow Grapes] (Perfect Pearl Grade): Each grape has a different color and taste, akin to the finest wine, capable of calming the mind and easing mental anxiety, and can slightly heal soul wounds. (Suggested consumption: one grape at a time.)
“This is suitable for soaking in water.” Lolan fetched two cups, poured water into each, and put one grape in each cup.
The grape in front of Tides was violet. After dissolving in the water, tiny bubbles rose, turning the water pale purple until the entire grape dissolved, leaving a faint white frost on the outside of the cup.
The grape in front of Lolan was rose red. After dissolving in the water, bubbles continuously emerged, gradually turning the water pink. When the grape completely melted, wisps of white steam rose from the surface.
“This is amazing.”
Tides took a sip, and a comfortable refreshing sensation spread through her body. Even the minor wounds within her soul seemed to be healing, which was the most surprising part.
Witches, due to their long lives, often suffered soul injuries from battles, depression, or stubborn beliefs.
If these wounds could be properly healed, many witches wouldn’t go mad and destroy themselves.
“Lolan, why don’t you change your name to Gardener Witch or Candy Witch?”
Excitedly embracing her junior, Tides said happily,
“You will surely become the favorite junior of all witches.”
