EP.154 Confess Your Love #3
“Ugh…”
Dr. Jennifer Cash struggled to open her eyes.
Her blurry vision gradually became clearer over time.
The first thing she saw was a round ceiling light that had been turned off.
This was her bedroom. Bright light seeped through the crack of the door.
It also smelled like something delicious.
“…..”
Come to think of it, she must have fallen forward, so why was she looking at the ceiling?
Even the blanket had changed from a floral microfiber one to a plain, thicker one.
Her hair, which had been tied up, was now loose.
And what was with the bandage wrapped around her right foot?
Startled, Dr. Cash abruptly sat up.
Then, a headache hit, and she furrowed her brow.
“Ah…”
As she held her palm to her forehead, she heard footsteps from the living room.
With a doubtful look, she stared at the door.
Shortly after, Song Jihyuk peeked through the door and entered.
His eyes filled with concern, he let out a shallow sigh as he saw Dr. Cash sitting there with a dazed expression.
Then, he sat down on the bed.
“Are you awake?”
Dr. Cash was utterly confused.
Why was Jihyuk here, the one she had missed so much? It was wonderful, but also strange.
He had left her, disappointed… Was she dreaming?
As she pondered this, Jihyuk gently pushed her back down, and she relaxed her body.
Lying down, Dr. Cash rolled her eyes around.
Jihyuk let out a long sigh and scolded her.
“Are you an idiot? Why did you take four sleeping pills?”
“…..”
So it was a dream.
Otherwise, how would Jihyuk know how many sleeping pills she had taken?
Feeling a wave of sadness, Jihyuk said something astonishing.
“I saw the sleeping pills when I was trying to get you to take vitamins last time. I knew there were twelve left. I tried to wake you up, but you wouldn’t budge, so I checked… Ugh…”
“How…”
“Do you have any sense at all? You know you shouldn’t overdose on these things. I was shocked to see eight left. I was really worried.”
“…. Sniff…!”
Convinced it wasn’t a dream, Dr. Cash burst into tears.
Jihyuk hugged her, patting her back as he spoke.
“I’m sorry. I was wrong.”
Ah… Look at that broad heart.
She was the one who messed up, yet he was comforting her.
She shouldn’t cry… but tears of joy streamed down her face.
“Waaah…!”
Dr. Cash cried in Jihyuk’s arms for a while.
After nearly 30 minutes of sobbing, she finally stopped and sniffled.
Only then did Jihyuk release the hug and speak.
“Do you know you’ve been asleep for almost 30 hours?”
“3, 30 hours…? Really…?”
Dr. Cash’s eyes widened in shock.
Jihyuk clicked his tongue and shook his head.
“Yes. Exactly 28 hours. Why are you so reckless… Your car is wrecked… You were soaked and collapsed on the bed… What if you caught a cold?”
“…..”
“And why did you break the TV? You’re not a child.”
Dr. Cash pursed her lips.
Even with ten mouths, she had nothing to say.
Jihyuk gently stroked her hair.
Closing her eyes and feeling his touch, Dr. Cash suddenly wondered.
“When… did you come…?”
Dr. Cash swallowed hard.
That meant he arrived around midnight yesterday… Did he come straight back from the bar?
He left as if he’d never see her again, so why so soon?
Jihyuk answered her curiosity directly.
Scratching his head, he explained.
“I just… felt like I said something harsh to you… and I missed you, so I came back.”
Hearing his answer, Dr. Cash bit her lower lip hard.
Jihyuk loved her so much, yet she had been so ambiguous…
During the hours he was gone, she felt like she was going insane, and she finally realized the depth of her feelings for him.
With a determined look, Dr. Cash stared straight at Jihyuk.
And then she said.
“I love you.”
At first, she had fallen for Jihyuk so quickly that she tried to deny it, thinking it was too soon compared to when she had been with Edward. But now, she didn’t care.
She loved him so much.
Now, she had no intention of denying these feelings.
Hearing Dr. Cash’s confession, the corners of Jihyuk’s mouth lifted.
He spoke in a soft voice.
“I love you too.”
She thought she had squeezed out all her tears, but now she wanted to cry again.
A wave of happiness filled her entire body.
Hearing those words from his wonderful mouth made her heart melt.
She should have said it sooner… Why had she treated those words as so important? She was such an idiot.
“Did you… change the blanket?”
Wiping her eyes with her palm, she asked, and Jihyuk slowly shook his head.
“Yeah. I cleaned up too. I also ordered and installed a new TV.”
“T, TV too…?”
“Well, it was broken, so I had to get a new one. Should I have left it?”
“…..”
Speechless, Dr. Cash hung her head low, and Jihyuk sternly warned her.
“I put you in a medical device to check your condition. Thankfully, there’s nothing wrong… but don’t even think about taking sleeping pills like that again. What if something serious had happened?”
“Medical device…?”
“I stopped by the lab while you were sleeping.”
Dr. Cash’s mouth fell open.
He even went to the lab… and she didn’t wake up during all that?
Dr. Cash felt a surge of gratitude toward Jihyuk.
She should thank him… but first, she needed to apologize.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry, Jihyuk…”
“I’m sorry too.”
“No. You don’t need to apologize… I’m really sorry for being so selfish…”
“It’s okay. When you love each other, you fight sometimes.”
Dr. Cash’s face lit up with joy.
That’s right. When you love each other, you fight sometimes.
In fact, doing so only made her love for Jihyuk grow stronger.
Jihyuk, who had been caressing Dr. Cash’s cheek, continued.
“Answer me. You won’t take them again, right?”
“Ah, I won’t… I was wrong…”
“How do you feel? Do you feel better now?”
There was still a bit of a lump in her throat, but as Jihyuk said, she did feel relieved.
A completely different feeling from when she was with Edward. It was like the dark clouds had cleared.
She had never felt this desperate with him.
Things had never gotten this bad before.
They had argued a little when discussing future science, but that was it.
“Yeah… I feel better…”
She nodded with a meek tone.
Jihyuk grinned and said.
“Stay here.”
Feeling uneasy, Dr. Cash tightly grabbed Jihyuk’s hand.
An instinctive action. She urgently asked.
“Wh, where are you going…?”
“Nowhere. I’ll just get some porridge.”
“Ah…”
The delicious smell she noticed when she woke up must have been the porridge.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Dr. Cash released Jihyuk’s hand.
Leaning back against the headboard, she hugged her knees and buried her face in them as Jihyuk headed to the kitchen.
She had confessed her love to Jihyuk and also accepted her jealousy.
Because of that, she strongly felt the desire to keep Jihyuk away from Sehwa.
But she had no intention of openly engaging in a dirty love triangle.
At least not now.
Not long after, Jihyuk returned with a tray.
Sitting on the bed, he picked up the bowl, scooped some porridge with a spoon, blew on it, and then offered it to Dr. Cash.
“Eat.”
“I, I can eat it myself…”
“Eat when I give it to you.”
“…..”
It felt like she had become a child, but it was nice.
When would she ever get to be pampered like this by Jihyuk?
If she could just endure a little embarrassment, she could get used to it.
Dr. Cash opened her mouth and took the spoon.
As she took a bite of the porridge, a warm feeling spread through her body.
The taste made her smile. It was warm and perfectly seasoned.
Jihyuk really was good at cooking.
“Delicious, right?”
Dr. Cash nodded as she chewed.
Jihyuk offered another spoonful before she had even finished the first.
She pulled her head back playfully, and Jihyuk smiled.
“I’m not rushing you. Take your time. I just offered it when it was ready.”
Feeling a strange sense of rebellion, Dr. Cash opened her mouth again.
“…. Ah…”
She hadn’t even swallowed the porridge yet, but she took the spoon and bit down on it.
Holding the spoon with her teeth, she didn’t let go, and Jihyuk chuckled.
“You’re unbelievable, really…”
Dr. Cash agreed a hundred times.
She didn’t know why she was acting like this. It was unbelievable.
But she couldn’t help but smile, and it seemed Jihyuk felt the same.
The two of them giggled as they looked at each other.
After a while, Dr. Cash, having eaten enough, shook her head.
“That’s enough, thank you.”
“Want more? There’s still more than half left.”
“You brought too much. I’m full now.”
“Then just one more bite.”
“No thanks.”
“Alright. I’ll leave this here.”
Jihyuk got up and headed to the kitchen.
Shortly after, the sound of clattering dishes could be heard.
He must be cleaning up.
Dr. Cash got out of bed and stepped onto the floor, wincing slightly.
“Ah…!”
Her right foot was a bit sore.
But it wasn’t bad enough to limp, so she walked to the living room and watched Jihyuk’s back.
He was doing the dishes.
His back muscles flexed under his T-shirt.
Her body started to heat up.
She wanted him to hold her with those strong arms.
How could she make Jihyuk only look at her?
First, she needed to become prettier. When he went out, she should visit the makeup salon she had been putting off.
Should she get plastic surgery? No. Jihyuk liked her as she was… She shouldn’t go under the knife.
And she needed to lose weight. She had lost some recently, but it wasn’t enough.
She wanted to have a healthy, fit body that would make Jihyuk fall for her even more.
She didn’t need to go to the lab.
No demons were appearing now.
So the Aiter that Silvia and Adeline had wouldn’t lose energy.
The Earth was at peace. If demons appeared, Jihyuk would surely tell her to go to the lab first, so she should let go of her unnecessary obsessions.
Besides, Sehwa and Yuria were there, so even if something happened, they could handle it quickly.
After finishing her thoughts, Dr. Cash ran to Jihyuk as he turned around from finishing the dishes.
She jumped at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
“What are you doing?”
Jihyuk asked in a warm tone, patting Dr. Cash’s butt.
Delighted by his touch, Dr. Cash said.
“Let’s do it now. I want to.”
Hearing that, Jihyuk pulled down Dr. Cash’s shorts slightly.
Then he asked.
“You really want to?”
“Yeah.”
“Shouldn’t you rest?”
“I don’t need to rest. I’m fine.”
“Alright.”
With a smirk, Jihyuk carried Dr. Cash toward the utility room.
Dr. Cash was momentarily startled.
They were going to have sex in the utility room… where Edward’s belongings were.
Jihyuk was doing this on purpose.
To test her feelings.
Dr. Cash decided not to stop him.
The most important thing now was to show him her true feelings.
Saying “I love you” wasn’t enough.
From Jihyuk’s perspective, she had lied to him before.
So, to regain his trust, she needed to show him proof, not just words.
‘Edward… I’m sorry…’
I hope you understand. You were a good man who only thought of me, so I think you’d want this for me.
You’d want me to be happy, right?
So don’t say anything more to me.
