Chapter 145: The Purple Demon Transforms, A Trial of Skill
Immediately, Chen Ansheng took out the Ascension Pool and handed it to Ji Hongfu.
“Elder Ji, how long will it take you to repair this Ascension Pool?”
“This Ascension Pool isn’t truly damaged; it merely lacks a few laws. It’ll take me just a day or two to fix it,” Ji Hongfu replied.
“Impressive, as expected of Elder Ji,” Chen Ansheng praised sincerely.
“Quit flattering me,” Elder Ji chuckled and said, “If you really think I’m impressive, why don’t you want to become my disciple?”
Chen Ansheng laughed as well, “I didn’t know you had such incredible skills before. If I randomly became your disciple and didn’t gain any benefits, I’d still have to support you in your old age. Wouldn’t that be a loss?”
Ji Hongfu was taken aback and then said, “You speak rather bluntly. So what is your decision now?”
“What else is there to say? Disciple pays respects to Master!”
Chen Ansheng understood that without the teacher-disciple relationship, his connection with Elder Ji would strictly be a matter of exchanging benefits.
And true benefit exchanges should at least pursue fairness; you offer a price, and I offer a price, all counted clearly and plainly.
But what about Elder Ji?
He hadn’t put in any effort yet he had Chen Ansheng agreeing to this and that.
Whenever Chen Ansheng had questions, Ji Hongfu was frank and explained everything without hiding or being wary.
Elder Ji’s sincerity was the real reason Chen Ansheng was willing to become his disciple.
“Alright, alright, please rise, disciple.”
Elder Ji was very pleased and immediately helped Chen Ansheng up.
After struggling through most of his life to create marvelous skills, he wouldn’t feel content just exchanging them for survival without a proper heir.
Now that Chen had genuinely agreed to become his disciple, it was proper to impart everything he had.
“As the saying goes, once a teacher, always a father. What I said before about wanting benefits was just a joke. I respect your character so much that I’m willing to become your disciple and will honor you in every way henceforth,” Chen Ansheng said, putting away his smile and adopting a serious tone.
“Good.” Ji Hongfu looked at Chen Ansheng’s sincere eyes and felt very touched. “As a teacher, I’m grateful to have such a good disciple like you.”
As soon as the disciple ceremony was finished, Ji Hongfu sensed something unusual.
“Disciple, that sword immortal from outside the abyss, is my grand-student, correct?”
“Exactly,” Chen Ansheng nodded. “I ordered him to wait outside with the other beings.”
“This is bad,” Ji Hongfu frowned. “A fight has broken out.”
“What happened?” Chen Ansheng asked in surprise.
After pondering briefly, Ji Hongfu replied, “It seems that an unknown entity from the Spirit Burial Valley has controlled the other being and is now attempting to kill my grand-student! Disciple, hurry to assist him!”
“Understood!”
Chen Ansheng’s expression turned serious.
He didn’t know why the unknown entity from the Spirit Burial Valley could control his puppet.
But as long as it wasn’t its real body present, Chen Ansheng had no fears!
Immediately, Ji Hongfu sent Chen Ansheng on his way. Chen Ansheng’s figure flickered and appeared above the Dragon Bone Abyss.
As soon as he landed, he saw two figures fighting fiercely in the sky, causing the space around them to shatter, with celestial radiance scattering everywhere, obstructing the heavens and blocking the sun.
But Chen Ansheng did not rush in; instead, he hid in the space and observed the battle ahead.
Deep in the heavens.
Xuanyuan Lie was wielding a blue celestial sword, powerful sword intent swirling around him, displaying an aura of unparalleled might.
Meanwhile, the Purple Demon seemed to have grown stronger and its attack methods had changed.
Countless long, tentacle-like extensions emerged from its body, relentlessly striking at Xuanyuan Lie.
These tentacles, glowing with a deep purple light, could withstand Xuanyuan Lie’s sword intent without breaking.
“You demon, if it weren’t for my Master’s command, I would have already slain you!”
After trading blows for a moment, Xuanyuan Lie bore several blood marks on his body and was surprisingly on the losing end.
“Disciple, that demon has developed self-awareness. There’s no need to hold back. Go all out and slay it!”
Chen Ansheng saw that Xuanyuan Lie was holding back and sent a mental message.
“Master is here!” Xuanyuan Lie’s heart leapt with joy upon hearing this and replied, “Understood!”
With that, Xuanyuan Lie had no more reservations. His powerful sword intent erupted forth completely.
“Kill!”
Xuanyuan Lie transformed into a sword, traversing through the shattered dark space towards the Purple Demon.
The Purple Demon screeched angrily, and countless long tentacles attacked Xuanyuan Lie.
“Clang, clang, clang!”
This time, as soon as the tentacles touched that overwhelming sword intent, they were sliced apart.
“Eight Directions Splendid Sword, slice!”
Xuanyuan Lie approached the Purple Demon and unleashed his inherited sword technique.
From all directions, numerous strange sword images suddenly erupted, converging towards the position of the Purple Demon with lethal intent.
“Die!”
Seeing the Purple Demon about to be struck, a cold smile appeared on Xuanyuan Lie’s face.
In his eyes, once the demon was hit by this move, it would surely be reduced to blood and bone fragments.
“Boom!”
However, the reality was not as expected.
As the sword images converged, a terrifying force of laws suddenly descended and shattered all the sword images.
A slimy, muscular arm extended from the Purple Demon’s chest and struck Xuanyuan Lie’s chest hard.
Suffering a serious blow, Xuanyuan Lie’s heart sank in horror.
He slashed back at that slimy arm, but with a clang, his celestial sword was rebounded, failing to even pierce the skin of that arm.
In the next moment…
“Master, there’s more in this chapter, please click the next page to continue reading; it gets even more exciting!”
Xuanyuan Lie cried out in agony as he looked at his own chest. The slimy hand was sprouting fine threads, resembling the roots of an old tree, piercing through his flesh and entering his heart.
“This is bad; that unknown entity from the Spirit Burial Valley is indeed up to no good.”
Not far away, Chen Ansheng also witnessed this scene.
Realizing something was wrong, Chen Ansheng flickered and appeared at Xuanyuan Lie’s side.
He raised his hand, condensing a true injury sword strike that landed on that arm.
As the sword image passed through, it effortlessly severed that slimy arm as if it were cutting tofu!
The Purple Demon shrieked in pain, and as it retreated, several more arms attacked from behind.
Chen Ansheng was unfazed; he was only concerned that the opponent had some bizarre moves that could kill Xuanyuan Lie, so he grabbed Xuanyuan Lie’s shoulder and teleported away.
Miles away, Xuanyuan Lie’s face was pale, blood continuously oozing from his chest.
“Thank you for saving me, Master!”
Xuanyuan Lie, still shaken, thought that without his Master’s timely intervention, he would have been pierced through by those tentacles, and he didn’t know what would have happened to him.
“That demon is somewhat formidable; even you can’t contend with it.”
Chen Ansheng murmured, but a thought suddenly struck him.
He had just received a royal-level talisman and was unaware of its effects. Xuanyuan Lie, being a sword body cultivator, could entirely serve as his “spear” to test the assimilation effect.
So, Chen Ansheng said, “Disciple, do not fear. I will assist you and elevate your realm. Go back and fight it again!”
Xuanyuan Lie was taken aback, doubting, “Master, can you really elevate the disciple’s realm out of thin air?”
“Is that even a question?” Saying this, Chen Ansheng summoned the talisman, “You call me Master, and I’ll elevate your realm, sending you into battle!”
Xuanyuan Lie wasted no time, half-kneeling in the air, “I pay respects to Master!”
Chen Ansheng activated the talisman, invoking the assimilation laws, and in an instant, Xuanyuan Lie’s aura surged dramatically. The intensity of his sword intent forced Chen Ansheng to summon celestial energy for defense to evade its sharpness.
“What realm is this? I feel like I can sever the heavens and earth with a single sword…”
Feeling the overwhelming celestial energy surging within him, Xuanyuan Lie was utterly shocked, his mind in a daze.
