Chapter 116 – First Encounter
“Yes, two first-year students. Their names… I remember one of them was called… what was his name again?”
Damn.
At such a critical moment, I couldn’t recall the name of that flame boy… Who would care to remember the name of such a fool?
I immediately looked at Sophia with pleading eyes; she understood what I wanted and said quickly, “His name is Peter.”
“Right, right.” I nodded repeatedly, “Peter. The other one… I’m not sure… but he’s from the Lightning Order. In the morning…”
“In the morning, we were all very scared.”
Perhaps because she thought I was speaking too slowly, Sophia seemed a bit anxious and stepped forward, taking over my words.
“Those two might be new students, but with lightning and fire, they looked really powerful. They wouldn’t let us go even after bumping into us…” She exaggerated the situation, secretly giving me a thumbs up behind her back as she continued to lie, “Later, we heard Peyilo say that she was your friend… Sorry, don’t blame her. She was very scared and just wanted to borrow your name to avoid being bullied… And they made us run twenty laps for being late…”
Cautiously lifting my eyelids, seeing that Alex didn’t show any displeasure but seemed rather pleased, Sophia felt relieved and continued, “But… I didn’t know who they were, but they didn’t seem to buy it either, saying… saying…”
Her stammering made Alex’s expression dark.
“What did they say?”
“… You won’t hit us, right?”
“No.”
“Oh.” Sophia nodded, “Actually, I can’t remember all the details. They said a lot, like ‘Alex’s reputation in the circle is already bad’ and ‘Who would be afraid of such a guy,’ some of which I didn’t understand. I just felt their attitude was terrible, and I was very scared…”
She paused here.
“We really didn’t know him… Later, thankfully, a teacher came over, and they left… But they said some very unpleasant things, and my heart is still unsettled, thinking if they might come looking for us again. So, we agreed that if this happens, we would take action first and then find a teacher… So…”
As she spoke, her voice gradually became softer.
Alex nodded silently, his face revealing no obvious emotion. After a while, he turned to me and asked, “Peyilo, is this true?”
He didn’t forget to get closer, omitting the word ‘Miss’ when addressing me. Although I felt disdain, I didn’t say anything more at this moment.
“Yeah, that’s it.” Tilting my head, I thought for a moment, “If you don’t believe me… but they definitely won’t admit it.”
At this moment, someone nearby spoke up.
“Alex, it might be that小子 from the Reckman family.”
“I remember a Peter, part of the Flame Order… It seems he did indeed enroll this year.”
“Yeah, I know.”
His expression was inscrutable… It wasn’t my concern anyway. His focus had probably shifted elsewhere. I could just make a few casual remarks and leave.
Turning my head, I saw the person I had knocked out earlier. After a brief period of unconsciousness, he had now woken up and was sitting on the ground, looking around confusedly, clearly clueless about the situation.
However, there was nothing serious. I hadn’t hit him too hard; perhaps his nose would hurt for ten days or so.
After pondering for a moment, Alex spoke again.
“About today…”
Just then, a clear and gentle voice could be heard from not far away, seemingly calling out to the girls over there, “Girls over there.”
Everyone turned their heads.
First, they saw the clean white dress fluttering gently in the wind.
On the edge of the path, a nun
The disguised woman was graceful and elegant, her sleeves like white rainbows. She crossed her hands over her lower abdomen, standing gracefully like flowing water.
“Would it be convenient to come help me?”
Sarah’s eyes lit up. “It’s Lady Teresa!”
“That…” Sophia rolled her eyes and grabbed my hand, giving a slight smile towards Alex. “Lady Teresa is calling us, let’s go over.”
Without waiting for Alex to respond, she quickly pulled me in the direction of the other side of the path. Sarah and Daisy hurriedly followed, walking briskly towards the nun.
Looking at her pleasant smile, the three girls seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
“Are you new students this year?” Sister Teresa asked.
“Yes!”
“Yes, Lady Teresa…”
The girls were somewhat nervous.
Unlike the nervousness they felt towards Alex earlier, what they showed now was a mix of excitement and disorientation, as if they wanted to say something but couldn’t even utter a word, not knowing where to place their hands.
Sarah exhibited this most prominently; her anxiety was clearly visible on her face. Among the three, only Sophia remained relatively calm.
She bowed slightly to Sister Teresa.
“Thank you, Lady Teresa.”
Sister Teresa smiled and shook her head.
“Just call me Teresa or teacher, I’m not really a lady.”
As she turned her head, a strand of silver hair slipped out from under her black veil, sticking to the corner of her mouth. She gently hooked it with her pinky and tucked it behind her ear.
Just a casual gesture, yet it made my heart flutter slightly.
So graceful… every movement was gentle and comforting. This woman, just by standing there, could make one feel refreshed.
Although she didn’t appear particularly beautiful and was already past thirty.
“Teresa teacher, I often see your articles in the church newsletter!” Sarah said excitedly, her eyes gleaming with admiration. “I know you’ve received the Peace Medal and the Klesler Honor Medal! I also know you’re the royal city’s diplomatic envoy, they all call you the White Feather… I saw you this morning! I’ve also read your book ‘The Sorrow of Love,’ it says…”
If this world had autograph fever, Sarah would probably want Teresa to sign her equally barren chest.
“Alright, alright.” Teresa patted Sarah’s head and pointed to the small stone path ahead. “Don’t rush, let’s go first.”
“Okay!”
After taking two steps back, she turned around to find that Alex and his group had already walked away.
“What were you talking about with those people just now?”
“Well… actually, there wasn’t much…”
“Did they bully you?”
“A little bit, but we didn’t lose out.”
“That’s good. If there’s nothing else, hurry back to your dormitory, don’t have too much contact with them.”
“Okay! We understand, Teresa teacher.”
“Teresa teacher, can I ask you a question?”
“What is it?”
“They all say… that your faith power is so strong that it can make the silver leaves of the Ahabma mountain’s Eisha wood bloom all over the mountain. Is that true?”
“Haha~” Teresa covered her mouth and laughed lightly. “That’s not true, even the Pope can’t do that.”
Sarah looked somewhat disappointed.
“As expected, rumors are all lies.”
“Well… you can’t say that. Oh right, what are your names?”
“I’m Sarah!” “Sophia, teacher, hello.” “…Daisy.”
Teresa turned her head and looked at me again.
“Little sister, what’s your name?”
Under her arched eyebrows, her deep blue eyes, resembling gems, somehow reminded me of Carlos.
