Chapter 14: The Glamorous Lineup

Chapter 14: The Glamorous Lineup

First, a silver Magic Circle appeared between the two, and then a Stone Golem about 5 meters tall emerged from it, blocking the way of the advancing Mork.

At the same time, as soon as the Stone Golem appeared, it locked onto Mork and swung its fist down with a mighty punch.

“Boom!” The sound echoed loudly.

Nearby, the ice surface shattered with the Golem’s heavy strike, and pieces flew into the air due to the shockwave.

In a pinch, Mork jumped back just in time to dodge it.

The shattered ice crystals glittered in the air, reflecting the sunlight beautifully, almost enchanting anyone who gazed at them.

However, good things are fleeting; once the ice crystals fell to the ground, everyone’s attention shifted to the initiator of the chaos.

After its first strike, the Stone Golem didn’t rush to attack Mork again. It retracted its fist and stood there, staring intently at Mork.

Mork, now landed, looked at the spot where the Golem had struck.

Not only had the ice surface been destroyed, but the city wall beneath it also had a small hole smashed into it.

Remember, this was the fortress constructed by the Orcs to resist human attacks!

Naturally, they chose very hard stone for it.

If conditions allowed, they’d even reinforce it in various ways.

Like with magic!

In such cases, an average person would leave perhaps just a few white marks on it.

But the Stone Golem was able to punch out a small hole, demonstrating just how powerful its blow was.

Seeing this, Airael felt a sigh of relief within her heart.

Thank goodness! Now she wouldn’t have to reveal her trump card for the time being.

Still, it’s the same old story—her trump card isn’t that she can’t use it; it’s all about who she uses it in front of.

If Mork recognized her, it would be a disaster.

During this standoff, Andrew slowly approached with his attendants.

At the same time, Cain and Arthur rushed over swiftly.

“Ailia, are you okay?” Arthur, upon arrival, didn’t look at the battlefield but focused on Airael, his expression filled with concern.

“I’m fine!” Airael smiled and shook her head.

“Thanks to Lord Andrew, or I would’ve been in danger just now.”

As she said this, her gaze fell on Andrew, who stood on the opposite side with Cain and the others, and her face displayed a hint of lingering fright.

When Airael looked over, Andrew gave her a knowing smile.

This was part of their private deal.

Arthur noticed Andrew’s smile and felt something was off, but upon reflection, he realized there was nothing too strange about it.

Despite being the Tower Master of the Archmage, who sounded authoritative, Andrew’s impression was that of a friendly and gentle person.

This mannerism aligned well with Arthur’s mental image of him.

Andrew’s smile was indeed charming and kind.

So, Arthur also smiled back at Andrew, expressing goodwill.

At this moment, extra words were unnecessary.

Arthur recognized that they were currently battling a formidable enemy.

Right in front was a Dark Elf, a character far from harmless.

Now the attention was on Mork, who, unfazed about his safety, looked around at the crowd and laughed, “Should I feel honored to be treated this way by you all?”

At this point, Airael’s lineup to tackle Mork was indeed extravagant.

The unfathomably powerful Tower Master of the Archmage, an Elven Queen intentionally hiding her identity with a secret card still unplayed, and a similarly disguised Imperial heir also hiding his own trump card.

Even Cain, who had the least impressive background, was still a very talented individual.

Of course, Mork didn’t know any of this.

He was merely assessing their exhibited strengths.

Yet even that was enough for Mork to take them seriously.

Remember, before this, just the two of Airael and Cain had made him quite uneasy.

Now, there was an unfathomable old coot and a warrior who seemed no slouch either involved.

Especially that unfathomable old coot.

The Stone Golem that had almost wounded him was summoned by none other than him.

Thus, the upcoming battles would surely become even tougher.

Truth be told, at this moment, Mork’s thoughts were already leaning towards retreat.

Even if he could overpower them, it would be a pyrrhic victory.

In other words, it would mean fighting like crazy for a win.

Although he had previously prepared for this idea, when the moment truly arrived, he hesitated.

Did he really want to risk rescuing the Orcs?

He and his subordinates might actually meet their demise here.

As this thought rose, Mork began to feel irritated.

Just then, Andrew spoke up, looking directly at Mork, “So, brave warrior, you must be the general of the Dark Elves, the infamous Mork!”

One might mistake Andrew’s tone for that of a fanboy!

“I am Mork. What do you want, little guy? Spit it out!”

Under irritation, Mork spoke rather rudely.

Andrew wasn’t bothered by Mork’s bad attitude; he maintained his calm demeanor and replied, “Although humans are at war with the Dark Elves, I still want to advise you here. Humans are currently heading north just to deal with the Orcs; it really doesn’t concern the Dark Elves that much. If you could back out of this fight now, humanity wouldn’t hold the Dark Elves accountable for what’s happened before. In other words, you can leave safely with your men.”

Negotiating, huh?

Airael was somewhat surprised upon hearing this.

She genuinely hadn’t expected Andrew to pull off a move like this at this moment.

With things already at this stage, they were still talking?

But then again, nothing is absolutely impossible.

And if it actually worked, it would be a boon for them.

Dealing with Mork and the Dark Elves was no walk in the park.

If they could persuade them to withdraw, that would be incredible.

Arthur and Cain had their own thoughts, but since the speaker was the grand figure Andrew, they found it hard to voice anything.

Mork was tempted by the proposition.

He knew this might be humanity’s final offer to him.

He began to ponder again, should Dark Elves save the Orcs?

Simultaneously, he was also contemplating whether Orcs were worth saving for the Dark Elves.

Though the two questions appeared similar, they were completely different in nature.
