Chapter 134: The Old Man Assists You
Chen Ansheng was taken aback by the words.
So the Alien Immortal World does not refer to the Law Immortal World?
“This is strange. Could it be that the Immortal World is like the Cultivation World, with countless variations?” Chen Ansheng wondered.
The Old Tree replied, “That’s not accurate either. After I ascended in confusion, I also had thoughts similar to yours. It took thousands of years of exploration to determine that, among the realms of the same level, there should only be the Law Immortal World and the Martial Immortal World. What people refer to as the Alien Immortal World actually has another origin.”
“Oh?”
Chen Ansheng was even more intrigued.
“Please elaborate, senior!”
The Old Tree pondered for a moment before answering: “I have consulted countless ancient texts and explored many forbidden areas myself; the details are complicated and lengthy, but I won’t go into them now. In summary, I deduce that the so-called Alien Immortal World is actually a lost realm.”
“A lost realm?” Chen Ansheng seemed to grasp part of it and asked, “What does that mean?”
The Old Tree spoke slowly:
“To put it simply, it refers to dimensions or worlds that have detached from the constraints of the two Immortal Worlds. For example, if today the Ghostly Profound World is cut off from all the laws associated with the Martial Immortal World by an extremely powerful force and drifts into an unknown region of the universe, then it becomes a ‘lost realm.’ The beings within that realm either perish or, after countless eons of evolution, adapt to the new laws of heaven and earth, giving rise to new and powerful beings.
“This is one way to understand it. There is also another possibility: in the ancient Immortal World, where numerous races existed, wars raged. Year after year, the reverse-world powerhouses clashed, shattering parts of the Immortal World’s land that drifted into unknown cosmic regions, no longer bound by the laws of the Immortal World, thus forming a new world, which can also be called a lost realm.”
Chen Ansheng nodded in agreement.
Although the Old Tree’s explanation was based on his own deductions, he had explored for thousands of years, so it was likely to have a certain degree of credibility.
Then, Chen Ansheng thought of a question and asked, “Senior, if that’s the case, then the existence of Alien Immortal Worlds may not be limited to just one.”
“Of course,” the Old Tree nodded and continued, “The dimensions trapped under the Immortal World are as numerous as the stars. Throughout countless years, there have undoubtedly been many dimensions that have accidentally detached from the Immortal World’s constraints. Some of these must have undergone extraordinary changes, forming new worlds governed by their own laws. Indeed, some new worlds may produce beings that are not weaker than those in the Immortal World.”
“Yes,” Chen Ansheng agreed, then said, “To not hide it from you, senior, I witnessed such a phenomenon not long ago. It was caused by the opening of a seal in an unknown forbidden area, and my entire Immortal Mountain was invaded by alien laws. A black monstrous bird that flew out of the forbidden area was extremely powerful, and many Profound Immortals were no match for it.”
“Hehe,” the Old Tree smiled, showing no surprise, and said lightly, “What you experienced was likely the most common form of invasion encountered in the Martial Immortal World. From the information I have gathered, that realm probably suffered a devastating blow millions of years ago, with some powerful beings and world laws falling into the turbulence of time and space. Through various coincidences, they managed to reach the Martial Immortal World through temporal rifts.”
“Hmm, I have also read about this in ancient texts,” Chen Ansheng nodded, then added, “But there is one point I can’t understand. When the laws from that realm invade, they can crush the laws of the Immortal World. Does that mean the destroyed world is stronger than our Martial Immortal World?”
“That’s not very likely,” the Old Tree directly denied it and explained, “Let me give you a simple analogy, and you’ll understand. The Immortal World’s realm is like an ocean, and when you drop a single drop of ink into it, that drop of ink will temporarily displace the seawater, forming a concentrated spot of ink, but soon it will be absorbed and digested. Do you understand?”
Chen Ansheng pondered for a moment before saying, “Senior means that the absorption and digestion of different heavenly laws require a certain amount of time. The sudden emergence of alien laws only temporarily displaces the existing laws of the Immortal World, creating the phenomenon of a new and different realm, but it doesn’t mean that the alien laws are stronger, right?”
“Exactly.”
The Old Tree nodded and continued, “There’s also an interesting phenomenon: the more powerful the alien laws, the greater the pressure on the formed new realm, and the shorter its existence will be. Conversely, relatively weaker alien laws may exist for a longer time.”
“I see.”
Chen Ansheng had roughly grasped the doubts surrounding the Alien Immortal World.
Now, the key question arose.
Can cultivators of the Immortal World cultivate alien laws, and how should they do it?
So Chen Ansheng asked, “By the way, senior, do you know if our Martial Immortal World has a technique called Law Cultivation?”
The Old Tree nodded slowly, “Of course. It’s a way of cultivation that borrows the laws of heaven and earth using a powerful soul, achieving mastery over them. It is somewhat similar to my path of Law Cultivation, but ultimately, Law Cultivation is merely borrowing laws rather than creating them, and there’s a vast difference between the two.”
“Oh?” Chen Ansheng felt puzzled and asked, “What’s the difference? Both utilize the power of laws; how do we measure superiority?”
“Hehe,” the Old Tree smiled confidently and said, “It’s quite simple; I possess, and I can summon it at any time. But you borrow, and sometimes you won’t be able to borrow it!”
Chen Ansheng was taken aback; this reasoning seemed to make sense.
Before he could ask further, the Old Tree continued to explain, “Powerful Law Cultivators often possess means to sever laws or isolate heaven and earth. In such situations, if you are a Law Cultivator, you would lose all sources of power, and the outcome would be predictable.
“Law Cultivators, on the other hand, store all law power within ‘Law Palaces’ inside their bodies. No matter what domain you unleash, you cannot sever the source of their power. Do you see the difference?”
Chen Ansheng felt enlightened.
In comparison, Law Cultivators certainly have a greater advantage than Law Practitioners.
“The difference really is quite significant. It seems Law Cultivation is a bit of a hindrance.”
Understanding this, Chen Ansheng couldn’t help but feel some disdain for the way of Law Cultivation.
After contemplating for a moment, he added, “Senior, I have a friend who was recently tested and found to have qualifications for Law Cultivation. It is said that one can only choose either Law Cultivation or Martial Cultivation; he is quite conflicted about which path to take. Do you have any good advice?”
“You are talking about yourself, aren’t you?” The Old Tree laughed.
“Considering it this way, it isn’t impossible,” Chen Ansheng also chuckled.
“Then what is there to be conflicted about? With me here, helping you achieve dual cultivation in both Law and Martial arts is certainly not an issue.” The Old Tree paused before continuing, “Do you know that the true powerhouses of the Martial Immortal World all cultivate both Law and Martial arts? If not, how would they differentiate themselves from other cultivators at the same level?”
Chen Ansheng’s eyes lit up at this revelation.
“Is there such a thing?”
“Naturally,” the Old Tree paused, then continued, “Not to mention those young talents, even the Immortal Sovereigns and Immortal Emperors who remain hidden are tirelessly pursuing the path of dual cultivation.”
Chen Ansheng thought for a moment and then stated, “Senior, can I understand it this way? For example, if you and I are both Immortal Emperors, and you know the laws that I know, if you have imperial treasures, then I do as well! If both of us wish to compare strengths, we would have to take a different path?”
The Old Tree laughed heartily, “Exactly, that’s about the right idea.”
Chen Ansheng felt excited in his heart. With this senior, how many fewer detours would he have to take? So he quickly said, “Please teach me the methods for dual cultivation, senior!”
