Our Violet Search Squad is currently heading towards the mountains. This is the location where the missing person was last sighted.
In the depths of the Pastera Snowfield lies Stigma Mountain. It’s a treacherous place filled with ice and oddly twisted trees.
To get there, we first have to pass through a narrow passage between the canyons. The cliffs on either side aren’t incredibly steep. There are trees, but they are sparse enough not to obstruct our view.
The problem is, there are several times more monsters than in the border zones!
As we drove past an attacking group of monsters riding other monsters, yet another swarm of beasts clung to us like flies around a pile of food waste.
“Roaaar!”
“Die!”
Violet 27 from Vehicle 4 smashed the head of an Ice Skullcat. While speeding on the snow bike, I scanned for the number of beasts charging at us, enhanced by magic.
There were three rushing towards me.
“Eat this!”
– Bang! Bang!
The rear seat marksman, Violet, let loose with an automatic shotgun. The Ice Skullcat was ripped to shreds and disappeared behind us.
Both Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 2 were frantically firing their machine guns, with the sound of bolts tearing through the air continuously ringing overhead.
“Crazy! Why are there so many? It feels endless!”
“If you have the time, shoot some magic!”
Lucian from Vehicle 10 shouted, unleashing spells. Blue flame spears flew through the air.
A deer-like, nameless monster leaped in and exploded. As Lucian gasped for breath, the driver Violet handed over a magic energy supplement from the inventory.
“Haah… die, you son of a bitch! What is this?”
“Drink it quickly! We can’t let the fire support stop! Reload the ammo!”
“Ammunition? Am I a cannon or something?”
Oh no, I accidentally let my true feelings slip out. The back of my neck tingled.
Another swarm of monsters approached from the 9 o’clock direction of the escort team, and Lucian hastily downed the magic supplement.
A massive fireball flew through the air. The blue flames engulfed the swarm of monsters.
Strange beasts resembling bulls cried out in agony.
Cheers erupted among the Violets.
“This is awesome! Burn them all!”
While Lucian – no, the human magic launcher of the Violet Search Squad, continuously calculated and used destructive magic, the escort unit entered the middle of the canyon.
Stray monsters vanished, only to be blocked by new enemies. Irene, riding her bike in front, shouted.
“Violet! Pass it on to everyone. A group of Atacon has appeared ahead! Yeti monsters!”
Human-like monsters with white and blue fur began to appear one by one around the canyon.
They are known as the tyrants of the Pastera Snowfield – Atacon!
Sensing danger, Irene activated her unique ability once again. A golden magical energy spread like waves.
Twisted humanoid creatures stared at the escort unit with four eyeballs. They screamed so loud that it echoed throughout the canyon.
– KaOoO! KaOoK!
The enraged beasts stomped their feet and rushed towards the escort team.
“They’re coming! Fast!”
Their speed was comparable to that of our vehicles. One Atacon, closest to us, swung its fist. Vehicle 12 barely dodged in fright. Violet from Vehicle 2 quickly fired the machine gun for cover.
– KaOoO!
“Thank you!”
Finally, bullets and bolts rained down around us. Atacons with holes in their bodies fell, bleeding on the snowy ground.
“Looks like the bullets work!”
Violet from Vehicle 1 shouted as she tossed a shell. The spent shell cases fell to the ground. The floor of the snowmobile was littered with yellow shell casings and black belt pieces.
I was thankful that their defense was low. While their levels vary, they are not incredibly strong monsters.
“Be careful. They are intermediate monsters. Don’t let your guard down!”
Daphne warned as she quickly raised her magic staff. Something large flew from one side of the canyon towards Vehicle 1. An ice spear infused with magic.
The spear collided with a light green protective shield and exploded. These damned monsters have started launching long-range attacks!
“Ugh!”
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah!”
I focused on escaping. It was a very challenging situation. While beasts were using magic to form ice and snow from one side, other monsters rushed in like mad through the cover fire from the other side.
The narrowly missed ice chunks hit the ground with a thud and exploded. The impact was comparable to artillery.
This is exactly why Atacon received an intermediate rating. These highly intelligent creatures can also launch magical attacks, can you believe it?
“Base! Requesting support!”
The battle intensified. The escort team stepped on the accelerator, but the beasts kept chasing us.
Even now, Atacons continued emerging from the surrounding cliffs to join the chase.
Feeling that this wouldn’t end well, the command center’s Vehicle 10 issued new orders.
“1st Flight Squadron! Commence close air support!”
“Understood!”
“Roger! Roger!”
The 1st Flight Squadron, which had been merely observing, finally joined the fight.
“Show those monsters who’s boss!”
Powered hang gliders lowered their altitude. As they got closer, the monsters spotted us, hearing the sounds of the engines.
The price of being careless is deadly.
“Fire! Fire! Kill them all!”

The yellow lights of the tracer rounds poured down like rain. The rounds exploded, tearing the beasts apart.
Monsters that had no concept of air raids panicked and scattered, covering their heads. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Haha! Serves you right!”
Levi gasped with a mix of admiration.
“Ah! Look at that! They’re rolling around like trash!”
Levi and Violet from Vehicle 1 giggled as they watched the scene.
Seizing the opportunity from their slackening pursuit, we quickly raced to the end of the canyon. Noticing they had been tricked, the Atacon group growled and resumed the chase.
It seemed we might shake off the monsters.
Suddenly, an unexpected counterattack came. An enraged Atacon pointed a finger at the sky, and the others began hurling magical ice chunks upward.
In a blink, they were able to think of anti-airfire!
– Kraziiik!
“Eek! It’s cold!”
Violet 537 cried out.
The VA-5, providing close-range fire support, was swept up in their counterattack. A snowball exploded right next to it.
Half of Vehicle 537 froze. The wings of the hang glider also iced over and shattered. Losing lift, the hang glider plummeted.
“Caaah! We’re going down!”
The spiraling hang glider approached the sun, melting away like Icarus, falling helplessly. A loud crash echoed from afar.
As the marksman from Vehicle 1 spotted the crash site, it became clear snow and debris were flying amid the swarm of monsters.
The hang glider went down in pieces!
“Waaah! Our aircraft!”
Pilot Violet from the VA-5 screamed in the network, devastated and furious. It felt worse than dying.
“Hey…? Hey! The kids have fallen! Aren’t we going to rescue them?”
“It’s fine! You know, right?”
Kalia from Vehicle 7 raised her sword to indicate the crash site. Her green eyes were filled with worry. I hurriedly reassured her.
To be honest, I wasn’t fine at all.
I had let my guard down. We were the first to get shot down. My pride was hurt.
How dare these monsters disrupt the sacred flight!? Even the Wright brothers would be furious! I had to show them. The sky belongs to the Violets!
“We lost a plane! We need revenge!”
The network buzzed with anger. The members of the 1st Flight Squadron, having lost a precious aircraft, were fuming and ready to charge in at a moment’s notice.
Command made the decision for revenge.
“From the Company Headquarters to the 1st Flight Squadron: Increase altitude and begin bombardment!”
The hang glider squadron ascended to avoid anti-air fire.
After circling once, the hang gliders flew over the monsters’ heads, releasing a barrage of priest bombs and incendiary grenades. They didn’t forget to sprinkle gasoline, either.

The ground turned into a sea of flames. Atacons coated in Violet’s special incendiary were dancing in agony.
Some monsters attempted to escape through the flames. One especially large one was leading its kin in retreat.
“How dare they! Trying to escape?”
“From the Company Headquarters: Usage of guided bombs approved!”
I increased altitude. Vehicle 1 soared above the dungeon. A guided bomb was generated and began its flight. The target was right in the middle of that barbaric Yeti group!
“Woohoo! I’m going in!”
The glorious mission of the first real combat deployment of guided bombs fell to Violet 12.
The winner of the lottery dropped down, bringing death with it. The Atacon, leading its group in retreat, turned to look at us.
In that brief moment, I read emotions in the four eyes on the beast’s face. Was it despair? Fear?
It doesn’t matter. The only thing to give to a monster like that is violence and death!
“It’s blowing up!”
– Kwaaaaang!
The effect of the explosive gear I wore was confirmed. Priest explosives weighing three to four times Violet’s weight shattered the monster group into pieces.
“V-Violet. What is that?”
Levi looked at me with wide eyes. She was watching the whole spectacle from the roof of the snowmobile.
Thankfully, Daphne was engaged in conversation with the radio Violet and others.
Other team members were simply thinking it was just a bombing. As long as I can shut Levi’s mouth, we’re fine.
I decided to cover it up somehow.
“Ah, that’s… our Violet’s new weapon!”
Even as I said it, I was worried. What should I do? It’d be trouble if someone screamed.
Levi blinked several times, then showed an unexpected reaction.
“I see… that’s amazing!”
“Eh… eh? You don’t think it’s strange?”
“Strange? I don’t know about that. I’m just too scared. I’d never think of anything like that!”
For some reason, Levi was genuinely impressed.
“I can’t believe you would throw yourself into the fray to clear out all those monsters! Violets are really brave. I could never do that. You’re incredible! Amazing!”
Soon, Levi screamed in excitement. Hearing the praise, I felt good. I never thought someone would recognize my creativity!
I requested her to keep it a secret. Levi nodded her head enthusiastically.
As we hid the secret, we managed to exit the canyon safely and began climbing the mountain.

The escort team halted at a flat area halfway up the mountain. Luckily, it seemed the monsters were still trapped in the canyon. Here, their numbers were relatively low.
After covering the cars with camouflage and snow, we began our formal reconnaissance.
“The Company Headquarters announces: Deployment of two companies begins!”
Violets clad in white winter combat uniforms scattered in all directions.
“High mountain, deep valley~ silent dungeon!”
“Violet is heading to the snowy fields!”
While the hundred-member search company scoured around the ridge looking for signs of human presence, hang gliders flew above searching for traces of humanity.
“Come out! Alex! Yuri! Lucy!”
“K Cage! Lila! Where are you! Your parents sent me, come out quickly!”

While engaging in short skirmishes with small monsters popping up here and there, the remaining Violets picked up shovels and tools. If the role of the 1st company was to search, the 2nd company was responsible for building the base camp.
We set up camp around the car. This place, famous for being in the middle of enemy territory and a zone prone to blizzard storms, was dangerous to just pitch a tent.
We piled up snow and built walls like an igloo. All around, barbed wire made from reinforced composite materials was set up. Explosives were connected via wires along expected attack routes.
From above, it looked rough but sturdy enough to serve as a defensive base. With this, we should be able to buy some time to escape in the worst-case scenario.
Unfortunately, after several hours of searching, we came up empty. These creatures didn’t show themselves at all. After a discussion, we decided to search deeper the next day.
“So, you want me to set up some magic traps?”
“Yeah! Please!”
“It’s my fate…”
Lucian, who had switched jobs from human magic artillery to human magical engineering equipment, grumbled as he laid down various magic traps and reinforced the snow barriers.
After finishing dinner brought in from the inventory, we wrapped up the meeting, and before we knew it, night had fallen. While the Violet sentinels stood watch, the team members went to sleep.
“This is the girls’ tent, and this is the guys’ tent. Got it? Don’t walk in the wrong one!”
As Lucian and Granite entered the men’s tent, I followed four lovely girls into the women’s tent.
Inside, we set up several raised beds to block the cold creeping up from the floor. It was spacious and sturdy enough to accommodate several people at once.
By midnight, the air had turned much colder.
“Ugh… it’s cold even with a heater on…”
“Should we lay down some spells or something?”
“It’s so cold… ugh…”
The dungeon weather was extremely cold. Despite various measures, it was still frigid.
Considering they were all Awakened Ones, everyone was shivering.
Suddenly, a great idea struck me to overcome the cold.
“Hey guys! I thought of a great idea!”
“…?”
“Why don’t we all cuddle up when we sleep?”
Everyone looked at me with strange expressions.
“No, that’s kinda sudden…”
“Hey, hear me out!”
I did my best to persuade my friends.
First off, Violets are warm. There are lots of them. Therefore, if we squeeze in one or two Violets into the bed, it’ll be really cozy! This is similar to how penguins overcome the cold.
“And friends typically sleep like this. Let’s think of it as a pajama party!”
As everyone hesitated, Daphne was the first to step forward.
“Hmm… is it because Violet is cold? Well, if that’s the case, I guess I can’t help it…”
“Awesome! Everyone, come on in!”
“Waa~”
“No, this is too many! Aah!”
The off-duty Violets started to come into the tent one by one, surrounding my friends.
“It’s warm!”
“I’ll hug you!”
“Hey! What’s up with this all of a sudden?”
“You, seriously…”
“V-Violet? Uh-huh?”
The girls in the tent were quickly surrounded by the Violets.
“How’s this? Isn’t it warm?”
Irene let out a short sigh, seemingly resigned.
“Yeah, it is warm…”
“Wow! It really works. How about you, Kalia?”
“Ah! I get it… you’re right. It is warm. I surrender! I surrender!”
One by one, my friends threw up the white flag. Soon, the tent was filled with girls lying between Violets.
For a moment, the noise died down as friends began to drift off to sleep comfortably among the Violets. We were warm.
We too started feeling drowsy.
Falling asleep amidst lovely girls, maybe being reincarnated like this isn’t such a bad luck after all.
“It’s warm…”

The next morning, while having breakfast and searching, we finally discovered a clue that could lead to our search.
“We found it!”
