Chapter 12: Axi’s Profile

Chapter 12: Axi’s Profile

“It’s really beautiful!”

Hank felt like his worldview had just been turned upside down.

He had never seen such a beautiful person before, nor had he ever imagined one could exist.

Especially at this moment, Airael was completely engrossed in reading documents, her meticulous demeanor only added to her already perfect charm.

Once, he thought the princess of the kingdom was the most beautiful woman, but now it seemed that title might just be up for grabs in Hank’s heart.

Airael, focused on her documents, had absolutely no idea that her small actions were causing massive waves in someone’s psychology beside her.

As Airael kept reading about the lone mercenary Axi, her interest in him only grew.

Firstly, this guy was undoubtedly a genius.

At such a young age, he had already built a formidable reputation, full of legendary flair.

The documents revealed that since Axi came into the world, although he had always worked alone, he had achieved a 100% success rate on all his tasks.

This was the best proof of his strength.

There were even rumors that Axi had fought against a dragon and defeated it.

As for the veracity of that, it was hard to say.

Because Axi had always worked solo, it was difficult to gather much information about his movements.

The documents barely mentioned it.

Clearly, the credibility wasn’t too high.

After all, rumors are just that—rumors—with low credibility.

Especially when, after multiple revisions by bards, even a dragon beast with only a trace of dragon blood could be touted as an adult dragon.

Airael just chuckled at that.

Dragons, while powerful, were not invincible.

According to the records of the Elven Race, during their most glorious times, powerful elves would capture giant dragons for their mounts.

Too bad those glorious days were long gone.

Secondly, this guy might be using a fake name out there.

Just like how Ailia wasn’t Airael’s real name, Axi was also an alias he used publicly.

What his true name was remained a mystery.

Information brokers hadn’t managed to collect that either.

The reason was still that Axi was a lone wolf.

It was certain that Axi was a fake name because the information brokers couldn’t extract much data from the name Axi.

They could only dig up information from his public appearances, and nothing prior.

Finally, this was the most concerning aspect for Airael.

That was Axi’s two weapons.

This was also what made Axi most noticeable.

Carrying two greatswords around was definitely quite eye-catching.

According to intelligence, the sword Axi carried on his back was actually his true weapon.

He just wouldn’t easily use that sword.

As for the specific reasons, the information brokers hadn’t collected that either.

They wanted as much information on Axi as possible to satisfy curiosities, like Airael’s, and to make a hefty profit.

Let’s face it, with Axi’s good looks and well-known reputation, many noble ladies, including princesses and queens, would likely fall for him.

You could say he was their dream man.

Of course, Airael thought she was the exception.

Her interest in Axi stemmed entirely from a familiar aura she felt around him.

That familiar aura was just too tantalizing.

When Airael finally lifted her gaze from the documents, Hank had already snapped back to reality.

Realizing his earlier embarrassing display, he turned his head away as Airael looked up to avoid further shame.

Upon putting on his hood, Airael realized she had completely overlooked Hank’s presence earlier.

She paused for a moment, then shook her head and laughed off the incident.

Though their time together had been short, Hank had given Airael a feeling of trustworthiness.

Therefore, she had let her guard down a bit.

If he could make her trust him so genuinely, then she could only blame herself for being naive!

Once Airael pulled her hood over her face, Hank turned back and asked, “Lady Ailia, what do you plan to do next? Are you going to find Axi?”

“Yes!”

Airael nodded softly and then said, “Captain Hank, I’ve really enjoyed our time together, and I hope we cross paths again in the future.”

With that, Airael turned and walked away.

Hank stood there silently, watching Airael’s retreating figure.

Until she vanished at the alley’s edge, he remained lost in thought.

When he finally came to, some time had passed.

He wore a bitter smile, shaking his head and dispelling thoughts that shouldn’t have risen.

Such an outstanding and beautiful lady like Ailia probably could only be paired with someone equally exceptional and handsome like Axi.

Walking down a less bustling street in Bruz City, Airael was looking around.

She was searching for the Traveler’s Inn.

After asking many people, Airael finally learned that the so-called Traveler’s Inn was located on this street.

During her questioning, Airael felt deep regrets.

Maybe she should’ve just asked Hank for directions.

As an experienced mercenary, Hank definitely knew many places.

Unlike those ordinary folks who might never have ventured far from their homes, living in a bubble centered around their own households.

Finally, efforts paid off, and after much toil, Airael found the inn she was looking for.

By now, the sky was close to dark.

It was a decently decorated inn, with a sign that boldly displayed the words “Traveler’s Inn.”

Arriving at her destination, Airael stepped inside with a smile on her face.

Luckily, at this time, inn regulations weren’t too strict, and they didn’t ask her for any identification proof or anything.

As long as you had cash, you could stay.

In the human continent, she was still an undocumented resident.

Being able to blend into Bruz City was thanks to Hank and the merchant ship captain.

After checking in, just as Airael was about to head upstairs, she spotted Axi coming down from above.

Her gaze instinctively turned toward him.

In turn, Axi also noticed Airael.

Unless her attempt to lower her presence had worked, Airael’s outfit was indeed quite striking and recognizable.

Axi immediately recalled seeing her before in the mercenary tavern.

The difference was that she had been accompanied by a well-built mercenary back then, but now she was all alone.
