Chapter 12

I never watched live streams in my life.

Of course, that doesn’t mean I lived a completely unrelated life; I did watch MTube a lot.

What I didn’t watch was live broadcasts.

The reason was purely a lack of time.

Enjoying games, creative works, studying development, and watching live streams was too much. It was beyond the realm of superhumans or anything like that. It was something only possible for a being with 48-hour days, defying the laws of physics.

So, perhaps that’s why I’ve recently become deeply engrossed in the fun of watching live streams.

It’s a late bloomer’s passion.

The scout on the screen dies helplessly to the enemy. Just seeing how big the enemy’s City Core was made my legs go numb.

Han Yoorim: It was a manageable angle, but what a shame.

“If it was a manageable angle, I would’ve gone pro.”

Mos sighed and typed /FF in the chat. The surrender button popped up, and as everyone seemed to feel the same, our base was destroyed in an instant.

[Defeat]

Sss. The sound of a lighter clicking came through the mic. I typed in the chat to Mos, who was stressfully charging up on nicotine.

Han Yoorim: With that physical ability, wouldn’t it be better to go for Main Carry or City Core?

“It’s more about brain power than physical. Scout suits me well.”

Han Yoorim: What a shame.

His current tier is Diamond 2. For an average person, that’s quite high, but considering Mos’s peak was Grand Master, he still has a long way to go.

Han Yoorim: But how do you get sleepy at that tier?

“Hey, Yoorim. Aren’t you going to stream?”

lol, Han Yoorim herself is only Diamond 3. You’re sleepy?

Han Yoorim: That’s why I don’t sleep.

?

Streaming. Now that I think about it, my last stream was three days ago. I was chatting with Kim In-ho about game development, and a lot of ideas came up.

It’s not that the viewers were fewer than expected, and I lost interest. Really. Please believe me.

Should I start streaming soon?

But what should I do once I start streaming?

Han Yoorim: Want to duo? Having at least one teammate with a mic would make things easier.

“I don’t like carrying. By the way, since we’re on the topic, why don’t you use a mic on stream? I saw you voice chatting last time, so it’s not like you don’t have one.”

You didn’t know the reason?

Mos, this guy. Acting like a deduction expert, but turns out he’s nothing special.

Guess it was just luck last time?

Han Yoorim: If I turn on the mic, viewers can’t concentrate.

“That’s the first time I’ve heard that. Wouldn’t it be the opposite? Without a mic, wouldn’t it be harder to focus on the stream?”

Han Yoorim: If a girl is good at games, it defies the laws of physics.

“Sorry to ask, but do you have a mental illness?”

Excuse me. Calling someone who’s completed their military service mentally ill. My mental health is so solid, I could face Cthulhu and still be fine.

Looking at how you write stories, don’t you know? You’re a bit off, aren’t you?

Normal people don’t lurk in toxic forums for years lol. The fact that you didn’t run away the moment you saw it proves you’re not normal.

For some reason, the chat agreed with Mos.

Having finished his cigarette, Mos opened his mouth while queuing up.

“You should turn on the mic. It’s not 20 years ago; no-mic streams have clear limitations.”

A mysterious gaming prodigy without a mic isn’t an element that stimulates people’s interest. What a disappointment.

“If you were really aiming for that, you shouldn’t have voice chatted with me…”

Anyway.

After finishing my stream consultation (not) with Mos, I put on my VR device and started streaming.

[Diamonds Don’t Sleep]

Viewers started pouring in. Watching Mos’s stream, I realized. To get into the stream right away like this, you need to have alarms set.

Meaning, these viewers were likely my hardcore fans.

68 viewers in just 3 minutes of streaming. Considering my recent stream’s peak was 79 viewers, this was a pretty high number.

Almost 80% of the viewers were my hardcore fans, meaning they’d watch whatever Han Yoorim, the streamer, did.

Well, since I haven’t streamed much, it’s still pretty soft.

This guy finally shows up lol

If you’re not gonna stream for 3 days without notice, just quit. If you’re not gonna stream for 3 days without notice, just quit. If you’re not gonna stream for 3 days without notice, just quit. If you’re not gonna stream for 3 days without notice, just quit.

Eternal World?

The chat was regenerating incredibly fast. Faster than the 3000-viewer stream I referenced.

You know what? Even with just 300 elite viewers, you can top the domestic chat speed rankings. I only knew because Mos told me.

But even so, 70 viewers at this speed is a bit much.

It just means they’re that healthy.

First, I played the <Excel Busters> OST. I’ve watched 10 streamers, and they all started by playing a song like this. It seemed like they were waiting for viewers to gather, which is probably why Mos didn’t do it.

What kind of weeb song is this lol

“The song’s good, right? I made it.”

As soon as the song played, I turned on the mic because of the chat. I was supposed to wait until it finished and say, “Ah, hello.”

The stream plan was already derailed, but it wasn’t a big deal, so I turned off the mic again.

?

??

??????

What was that just now

Everyone was shocked. The quality was so good, it was hard to believe it was self-composed.

4 minutes and 30 seconds passed.

I turned on the mic and greeted everyone.

“Hello.”

She’s a girl?

I thought I clicked the wrong MTube, but she’s really a girl?

Why is she a girl?

The chat was in panic. Almost like the panic room of a ship attacked by pirates.

So, who’s the pirate?

Me?

“Han Yoorim is obviously a girl’s name.”

Who uses their real name as their stream name lol

This girl is ridiculous

“Ga Joon-sik uses his real name as his stream name.”

I felt so wronged. The industry’s number one used his real name, so I did the same, only to be treated like a joke.

I did thorough market research.

That’s just him being unique. What about the top 10? Even if you check the top 50, Ga Joon-sik is the only one using his real name lol

“There’s a reason why they’re number one in the industry.”

I ignored the chat I didn’t even understand and logged into <Eternal World>.

I need to hurry up and become a Master.

*

<Han Yoorim giving a shoutout to Pussik lol>

(A clip of Han Yoorim copying Ga Joon-sik and using her real name for her broadcast too)

Her broadcasting role model is Pussik, she’s entered the gallery lol

-It’s nothing special, why the fuss?

-So who is she?

┗Even if you say that, she was trending a few days ago, are you senile or something? lol

┗┗Does it even matter?

<Han Yoorim is actually a girl btw>

(A clip of Han Yoorim, as Thierry, destroying the enemy City Core while talking nonsense)

At first, I thought it was a voice actor, but it seems like it’s really her?

-Her fans are going crazy

-But I really can’t believe she’s a girl. How can someone with that skill be a girl?

Basically, girls can’t play games.

This is due to a combination of biological differences and the size of the player base.

Everyone has different interests.

Some like soccer, while others like studying.

Some like games, while others like novels.

These differences become even more pronounced when it comes to gender.

Generally, girls don’t like games. They don’t play them. The gaming population is overwhelmingly male.

Talent comes from numbers. It’s no coincidence that our country is slowly falling behind Japan in baseball and soccer. Population size matters.

The amount of talent that comes from a gaming population of 1 million versus 10,000 is vastly different.

That’s why most gamers who dedicate their lives to <Eternal World> don’t like playing with girls. For those who sell their souls to win, losing is the most bitter pill to swallow, and girls are often at a disadvantage.

There’s also the matter of playstyle.

In team games, being passive puts a burden on your teammates.

And girls tend to have that kind of playstyle.

Of course, being passive isn’t always bad…

But in frustrating games, the most annoying thing is passive play. It just stands out and makes you look bad.

Anyway.

The guy read a post on the VR broadcast gallery and turned on Han Yoorim’s stream.

His position is Main Carry.

Main Carry is the position that requires the most coordination with Support in <Eternal World>.

And girls usually play Support.

So he knew from experience what kind of characters girls like and how they play, but Han Yoorim was quite different.

When the VR broadcast gallery was buzzing about Han Yoorim, her gender came up briefly.

The conclusion was simple.

“No way someone who plays like that is a girl.”

The guy agreed with that.

Aggressive to the point of being abnormal. Insane mechanics. It was a playstyle never seen in female game streamers.

But what’s the reality?

The guy looked at the screen.

Skills are flying. Just a graze would take a chunk of health, but Thierry moved without batting an eye.

Every movement left a trail of wind. That meant the agility buff was active.

Dodging the enemy’s skill barrage, Thierry closed in on the enemy Main Carry and used a skill.

Whoosh. Flames gathered on the sword. The condensed fire flowed along the blade, and the enemy Main Carry used their ultimate.

The space split in half. A well-leveled Main Carry’s ultimate would take half your health if it hit, but it had to hit first.

Thierry, as if anticipating the split, dashed forward and swung the sword.

The flames melted the air, incinerating everything in front of Thierry.

The enemy Support and City Core poured out skills to protect their Main Carry, but it was pointless.

Thierry, having barely used any skills and relying mostly on basic attacks, raised her right hand.

A black hole formed in the air.

Black Hole. The ultimate skill of the Darkness element.

And with that, the team fight was over.

It was a near-perfect character execution.

In <Eternal World>, the ultimate skill is usually the strongest. That’s why the few Thierry users out there weave their ultimate into combos to maximize burst damage.

Otherwise, the damage wouldn’t be enough.

But the Thierry controlled by Han Yoorim didn’t need to use the ultimate for damage.

Han Yoorim made up for Thierry’s naturally weak skill damage with basic attacks, making this trick possible.

Thanks to that, Han Yoorim used the ultimate as a Darkness element, hard CC skill, making team fights much easier for her teammates.

Honestly, that’s how the game developers intended Thierry to be played.

It’s just that the difficulty was too high, so it rarely worked out.

Even watching it again, the level of play was insane.

The guy watched Han Yoorim’s slaughter show for a while, then went back to the VR broadcast gallery.

Unlike a few days ago, there was almost no talk about Han Yoorim.

A couple of clips were posted in the usual rant threads, but that was it.

Unlike before when things seemed interesting, now Han Yoorim was just doing solo queue streams.

With only a little over 100 viewers, there were too many other interesting streams to care about hers.

So the guy turned off Han Yoorim’s stream and watched something else.

With all the big game releases lately, there was a lot to watch.

An hour passed, then two.

After watching streams for a while, the guy suddenly remembered and logged back into the VR broadcast gallery to check for updates.

<Breaking) ‘That blue-haired girl’ is going wild in the gallery lol>

Han Yoorim is so confused lol

And chaos erupted in the gallery.

What the hell happened?
