The Old Man swayed as he walked over.

A foul stench rushed into Chen Ansheng’s nostrils.

“Senior Brother.”

Zhong Li’s expression was indifferent as she cupped her hands.

“Hehe.” The Old Man grinned, revealing his large, yellow teeth smeared with some sticky substance, and said, “Oh you little Li, no one could get near you in the sect before, but now that you’re outside, you’ve changed your tune and are fooling around with some pretty boy.”

“Senior Brother, stop talking nonsense. I’m not.” Zhong Li turned her gaze elsewhere and replied coldly.

The Old Man’s smile faded as he clasped his hands behind his back, turning his gaze towards Chen Ansheng, who was peeking out from Zhong Li’s shoulder, “Is this the kid?”

Zhong Li nodded and stepped aside, “His name is Chen Ansheng. He’s a fellow practitioner, and his background seems to be higher than ours.”

Chen Ansheng quickly put on an awkward smile and greeted, “Greetings, Senior Brother. I haven’t caught your name yet.”

The Old Man stared at Chen Ansheng without answering, giving him an eerie and chilling feeling.

After a moment of silence, Zhong Li looked at Chen Ansheng, “He doesn’t like being called Senior Brother by outsiders. Just call him Ghost Grandfather.”

Chen Ansheng simply responded with an “oh” and quietly leaned further behind Zhong Li.

In truth, he wasn’t particularly afraid; if real danger arose, he could always order Zhong Li to intervene, and he could escape across realms.

His actions were purely because hiding behind Zhong Li felt safe.

“Three things,” Ghost Grandfather temporarily ignored Chen Ansheng and stated, “First, hand over the items from the forbidden zone to me. Second, this little toy of yours comes back to the sect with me. Third, Master has a new task for you.”

Hearing this, both Zhong Li and Chen Ansheng frowned.

Chen Ansheng couldn’t help but send a voice transmission, “What exactly did you say to him? Why does he want to take me away?”

Zhong Li replied, “Just because I don’t say it doesn’t mean they don’t know. Don’t panic; let me handle this. We’ll discuss it further later.”

After saying this, Zhong Li closed her mind’s sea to prevent Chen Ansheng from sending any more strange words that would disturb her.

She then took out the metal piece obtained from the forbidden zone and said lightly, “Warrant.”

Ghost Grandfather grinned, “Do I really need a warrant to do my job?”

Zhong Li ignored him and emphasized again, “Warrant!”

With a low grunt, Ghost Grandfather waved a dark palm, and a black token appeared in front of him.

Zhong Li sensed it with her celestial consciousness before throwing the metal piece away.

Ghost Grandfather took the metal piece and transmitted to Zhong Li: “Your new task is at the Xuan Yang Immortal Mansion. Your identity has been arranged, and the details of the task will be given to you.”

Zhong Li was taken aback.

If she remembered correctly, that dumb donkey also seemed to be going to the Xuan Yang Immortal Mansion!

Suddenly, a fierce aura erupted from Ghost Grandfather, and he said in a deep voice, “You bear it? Can you truly bear it! Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been up to, girl. I advise you not to play with fire; if you go too far, you’ll be left with nothing but bones.”

Zhong Li coldly replied, “I don’t need you to teach me how to do my job!”

“Good, very good.” Ghost Grandfather scoffed, “You’ve grown some wings, lifted your seal without permission, and swallowed the supreme technique. Just for those two points, I could crush you right here!”

Hearing this, Zhong Li’s complexion changed drastically.

Indeed, every word and action of hers was being monitored by the sect.

Seeing the situation escalate, Chen Ansheng stepped up with a friendly smile, “We’re all fellow sect members; there’s no need to be so serious. Chen Ansheng put one hand behind his back and beckoned with the other, “Come!”

“Then I’ll give you what you want and send you on your way!”

Ghost Grandfather transformed into a wisp of ghost light and shot toward Chen Ansheng.

“Senior Brother, stop!”

Zhong Li’s protective instincts kicked in as she summoned a black immortal sword and slashed it down towards the front of Chen Ansheng.

Zhong Li was so disturbed by Chen Ansheng’s “order” that she forcefully pulled back the immortal sword.

The murderous intent vanished in the next moment.

Ghost Grandfather’s claws halted an inch from Chen Ansheng’s forehead.
