Unlocking Advanced Profession, Bai Fu’s Ultimate Ascension! [12]

In the location “Above the Stars,” the progression from an advanced profession to a high-level profession brings much greater benefits compared to the first job change.

The first job change is like taking a player from a small village, where they toil with sweat, and bringing them into a bustling world, allowing them to witness the limitless potential of superpowered individuals firsthand.

The second job change, well, it should actually be called an ‘Awakening.’

To achieve this awakening, players must first accumulate vast amounts of experience and rich professional knowledge. After these preparations, they must also pass the game’s task tests; only by overcoming eighty-one tribulations can they truly attain the path of the ‘High-Level Profession.’

Hard work pays off; after all this preparation, the resulting enhancement will be much greater than the first job change—otherwise, the players would surpass the planners’ expectations.

With great anticipation, Bai Fu invested all her newly acquired experience into the Apprentice Soul Painter.

[You unlocked a new profession [Soul Painter]. Current level Lv1. Constitution +1, Intelligence +1, Inspiration +4, Attribute Points +4]

[You completed your second job change. Each point of Constitution provides +5 Health Points and +5 Spirit Energy.]

At the moment the Apprentice Soul Painter transformed into a Soul Painter, Bai Fu felt a sudden surge of new power within her body.

It was invisible to the naked eye but could be felt as a significant improvement. This reminded her of the changes she experienced when successfully absorbing the [Evolution Blood] template; under the cleansing of spiritual energy, her life seemed to officially embark on an evolutionary path.

Is this why high-level professions are so difficult to unlock?

The Apprentice Soul Painter grants 6 attribute points per level, while the Soul Painter provides 10 attribute points per level, and both start adding to Constitution.

Additionally, her conversion rate for Constitution to Health Points has increased to 1:25, and her conversion rate for Spirit Energy has improved to 1:15.

These improvements mean that her Health Points and Spirit Energy have surged significantly. Since her Spirit Energy cap exceeded 1500, triggering the third tier bonus from the Spiritual Energy Knowledge Chain, her various attributes increased further.

Bai Fu quickly opened her status panel to check her attributes.

[Health Points]: 2680/2680

[Spirit Energy]: 1970/1970

[Qi]: 160/160

[Attributes]: Strength 29, Agility 35, Constitution 98, Intelligence 35, Spirit 32, Inspiration 128

Compared to before the upgrade, her Health Points increased by over 600, and her Spirit Energy increased by nearly 700. It was a rocket-like boost, coupled with the healing effect of her new talent [Spiritual Adoration], which would make her opponents weep!

Bai Fu closed her eyes. Even without using her spiritual energy perception skill, she could sense the dust in the air, people moving beside her, and Su Li’s suddenly curious gaze.

This is the benefit of increased Inspiration and Spirit attributes.

She sensed even more subtle changes in her body: her skin became more fair and smooth, her muscles stronger, and even her chest seemed more upright. She needed to check herself thoroughly once she returned.

“It’s settled!”

Even without considering other changes brought by this job change, the increase in attributes alone boosted Bai Fu’s confidence.

What nonsense about mutant beasts? 2500 health points? I now have 2680, and if I fight again, I won’t need He Fu’s help—I can take you down myself!

While confident, Bai Fu also felt relieved about her previous judgment.

Thankfully, she was very cautious and didn’t foolishly challenge the President of the Truth Society. Otherwise, the gap in attributes due to the high-level profession might have allowed the President to easily crush her.

Bai Fu closed her status panel and opened other game prompts after the job change.

After becoming a [Soul Painter], several of her original skills received corresponding upgrades.

[Intermediate Spiritual Energy Mastery] upgraded to [Advanced Spiritual Energy Mastery]: +30% learning efficiency for Spiritual Energy knowledge and active skill effects.

[Low-level Spiritual Energy Resilience] upgraded to [Intermediate Spiritual Energy Resilience]: +5 Inspiration judgment when attacked, +10% Spiritual Energy resistance.

[Spiritual Energy Shield] upgraded to [Spiritual Protection]: Consumes Spirit Energy to form a full-body shield equal to (Spirit Energy * 2). Maximum shield value is 3000, usable on other targets, lasts 5 minutes, cooldown 12 seconds.

The first two upgrades were expected, but the upgrade to Spiritual Energy Shield perfectly met Bai Fu’s needs.

The skill effect remained basically unchanged, but now the shield could be used on others, greatly increasing its utility. Selling it as a Prayer Card would be easier too.

In addition, Bai Fu unlocked two new passive skills and one auxiliary skill.

The two passive skills are—

[Handy Mind (Spiritual)] increases Prayer Card production efficiency by +30%.

[Basic Prayer Enhancement Lv1]: Increases the effect of Prayer Cards by +10%.

The former significantly boosts her card-making speed, improving her speed of making cards and earning money/experience.

The latter’s improvement is crucial. Using Prayer Cards falls under using items rather than skills, thus not benefiting from some of her previously acquired skill bonuses. With this new passive, everything improves.

An increase of +10% output for a small Bai Fu means ten small Bai Fush together would be equivalent to having an additional small Bai Fu.

If she upgrades this passive, the output bonus will be even higher.

The new auxiliary skill is—

[Dispel Lv1]: Consumes 30 Spirit Energy to dispel one regular buff or debuff from a target. Cooldown 10 seconds.

This skill is quite useful. It can be used to dispel buffs that increase strength or agility on opponents or debuffs like burns on oneself. If used at the right time, it can save lives.

Compared to these upgrades, Bai Fu prefers the last prompt the most.

[You mastered the skill [Dark Burn Lv1]]

[Dark Burn Lv1]: Consumes 10% Spirit Energy and 10% Health Points, forcibly converts Spiritual Energy to [Dark], striking the target three times. Each strike deals (Inspiration * 1) points of Psychic Damage. Based on the difference in Inspiration, causes (0% to 10%) attribute debuff to the target, lasting 10 minutes. Skill cooldown 10 minutes.

(Note: Dark attribute Spiritual Energy causes some erosion to the body, so it cannot be used consecutively.)

This is an active skill, meaning it receives a 130% damage multiplier. With Bai Fu’s current base Inspiration, three strikes can deal 883 points of unmitigated damage. Considering the effect of Dimensional Erosion…

Bai Fu quickly calculated. Assuming the opponent has 3000 Health Points and takes full hits from Dark Burn, subsequent extra attacks, and all Dimensional Erosion damage, she could cause over 1400 points of damage in just a few seconds.

Of course, this is the base damage without considering various mitigations. In reality, the damage wouldn’t reach such heights, but combined with the explosion effect of Dimensional Erosion, this skill can reduce the target’s attributes and resistances. When fighting single targets with low Spiritual Energy resistance and lacking sufficient mitigation, it becomes a godly skill.

“Though the cooldown is long, you can probably use it only once per battle, but that’s more than enough. High-level duels usually end in a few minutes, unless both parties are extremely high in Constitution.”

Bai Fu felt very good about this.

With Dark Burn, she now has a big move. This move allows her to immediately widen the gap between her and general high-level profession users when unlocking a high-level profession.

“Our regional boss is like this; how can someone become a regional boss without some level?”

Bai Fu thinks that if she levels up those incomplete skills and raises the level of her [Dancer Under the Moonlight] profession, her strength could improve by several folds. Next time the planner strengthens her, she might transition from a regional boss of the Goli Desert to a world boss of the Source Star.

She must grind experience mercilessly!

She already senses that due to her involvement, the plot development of the Source Star will be much faster. Perhaps when other newbie planets’ players are still struggling with main quests and exploring secrets, the major factions of the Source Star will have already started fighting, with the protagonist and world boss taking turns appearing.

To cope with this situation, she must quickly enhance her strength. On one hand, for self-protection, and on the other, only by enhancing her strength can she secure a larger share in the upcoming grand scenes.

Just as Bai Fu happily closed all game prompts, Su Li had already walked up to her.

“You… Are you okay? Why did you suddenly stop here?”

Su Li stared at Bai Fu with confusion.

Actually, ever since entering the laboratory, Bai Fu had never left her sight, but now she felt that something had replaced Bai Fu.

It wasn’t exactly a replacement, but in the short span of a few seconds, she felt Bai Fu become more three-dimensional.

This three-dimensionality manifested when she used Qi to sense Bai Fu’s presence. Bai Fu instantly transformed from a young girl into a mature, charming woman, dazzling to behold.

Could someone really change so drastically in an instant?

She couldn’t resist the urge to try it out, but deep down, she felt a strange fear.

“I’m fine,” Bai Fu said with a warm smile like spring breeze, “Alright, don’t stand there idly. Look around, maybe you’ll find some important intelligence the Truth Society hasn’t destroyed yet.”

Su Li nodded, agreeing with her.

Although destroying a secret laboratory of the Truth Society is already a great achievement, who doesn’t like gaining more credit?

The two walked deeper into the laboratory. Just like outside, it was dilapidated, with no intact equipment. Only a Mutant stood there blankly. Xuehim from the Former Republic and Ding Hongtao from the People’s Alliance were interrogating him, but he refused to talk, refusing to yield even unto death until Bai Fu appeared.

“President wants to chat with you. This is his temporary terminal contact number.”

The Mutant recited a string of digits. As soon as he finished, his expression dimmed, and he fell to the ground lifeless.

All eyes focused on Bai Fu.

Who Made Her an NPC?!

Who Made Her an NPC?!

Status: Ongoing

What should you do if you suddenly transform into a random NPC in the beginner’s village—one who could die at any moment?

At first, Bai Fu was just trying to survive. She farmed goodwill from players, hoping to use their power to suppress the NPCs who were giving her trouble. But she didn’t expect to overdo it.

From "the players' most reliable support" to "the lonely guardian of the border", and finally to "the first saint in the empire’s turbulent era", the players, in their sheer enthusiasm, hoisted her all the way to divinity.

In the empire’s thirtieth millennium, a former emperor—who preferred to remain anonymous—spoke out in a heated interview:

"Those damn immortals charged into the palace, shouting about friendship and bonds, and forcibly placed my crown on that demon Bai Fu’s head. It’s a crime against nature!"

Bai Fu, in response to these accusations, was indignant.

"A demon? Me? From start to finish, I’ve always preached love and justice. Don’t slander me with baseless claims... It was tough for me too! Maybe instead of blaming others, you should reflect on yourselves. After all these years, have you ever truly acted like decent people? Why do you think the immortals only attacked you and not me?"
