The First Page – Master Hālìlùyà’s Great Treasure
“Open your eyes! Cháng Kǎi girl!”
Something soft was slapping my face, even starting to flip my eyelids.
Drowsily opening my eyes, I saw the familiar ceiling of the hospital, its distinct smell entering my nostrils. The inconsistency in the environment made my brain instantly clear.
Didn’t I already go home? Why am I back in the hospital?
Sitting up on the bed, I looked at the pale moonlight illuminating my legs. There was no cast, only clean feet peeking out from the bottom of the hospital pants.
A loli with long white hair stood by my bedside, wearing a pinkish-white nurse uniform. She anxiously tapped my arm, and this force caused a rhythmic sway of her large breasts.
So this is a dream…
After wearing a cast for over half a month, I finally moved my right foot.
Since it was within reach, I instinctively squeezed her head. The loli master’s hair was very soft, feeling just like the tail of an orange.
“Master, long time no see.”
She didn’t maintain her usual gentle demeanor, swatting away my hand with some exasperation.
“Long time no see, my ass! Foolish disciple, you haven’t completed this month’s quota!”
“Aah!”
I remembered I had forgotten something.
I hadn’t written Tán Lǐn Huā’s name with the marker pen yet. After the fracture, I had been too relaxed, and I forgot about it.
Today is August 31st, and if I don’t complete the quota tonight, I’ll become a total unlucky guy!
“Oh no, what time is it outside? Wake me up quickly!”
She sighed deeply, helplessly saying, “You realize this now? Don’t worry, there’s still time. Old man has another thing to do today.”
Master Hālìlùyà hopped onto the bed, and I lifted my legs to make space for her. She kicked off her white canvas shoes, crossed her legs covered in white stockings, and turned towards me, her white hair glowing under the moonlight.
If she lowered her head, one could see her panties.
“The notebook told old man that your calf is fractured.”
I nodded, thinking, isn’t it obvious that I’ve been fractured for more than half a month!
“Master, can you use divine power to heal someone’s leg? Otherwise, it will be hard to complete the quota…”
“No, but don’t panic. Old man has another way.”
She leaned in, mysteriously saying, “Cháng Kǎi girl, old man promised to give you a treasure, remember?”
I pouted.
If she hadn’t mentioned it, I would have forgotten.
The central government repeatedly ordered not to delay migrant workers’ wages, but the reward for completing the quota in July was never given to me by the end of August.
“What kind of treasure?”
“You were troubled about a friend’s matter, right?”
I thought for a moment, and she was probably referring to Zhào Zhào.
“Old man specially designed this treasure.”
She pulled out a transparent bookmark from her nurse uniform pocket. It seemed to be made of plastic, with a hole at the end tied with a white ribbon. It looked rather simple, almost something nobody would pick up if dropped.
I took the bookmark, examined it front and back, and bent it a couple of times, but couldn’t find anything unusual.
“What does this treasure do? How do you use it?”
“Notebook.”
Master Hālìlùyà called out, and the beautiful girl notebook appeared out of thin air, landing on my chest before bouncing onto the bed.
“This bookmark is an accessory for the beautiful girl notebook. To use it, you still need the power of the notebook.”
She opened the notebook and stuck the bookmark in the holder section. Through the transparent bookmark, you could see the words “Cháng Kǎi” written with a marker.
“Come, take a pencil and write your name on the bookmark.”
Although I wasn’t sure what would happen, I followed her instructions. Despite the bookmark feeling like plastic, writing felt like paper, not slipping.
I finished writing carefully.
Then…
Nothing happened.
Master Hālìlùyà didn’t expect this either. She waited a while, confirming that the bookmark produced no effect. She picked it up and examined it twice, then looked at me with a frown, a series of white question marks popping up on her head.
“That’s strange, why did this happen?”
“Even if you ask, they wouldn’t know either.”
She rubbed the bookmark against her rosy little face but couldn’t figure it out.
“As per old man’s design, after writing your name, you should split.”
So this bookmark was made by you yourself. What does splitting mean?
Would I split in half?
That would be scary.
Ultimately, she didn’t clarify what this bookmark was for.
The white-haired loli, confused, climbed down the bed. She turned around and used an eraser to remove the name from the bookmark, then placed it back in the notebook and handed the whole thing to me.
“You take the bookmark. Try again when you wake up. Old man needs to research this.”
“Okay.”
I responded, and she snapped her fingers silently, causing everything to turn dark.
I woke up again to the dark ceiling of my bedroom.
Since the gangster big brother moved in next door, I always kept the curtains drawn, so during the day, a bit of light would seep in, but at night, without lights, I couldn’t see anything and had to rely on my sense of touch.
This time, I woke up quickly, as the unfinished quota weighed heavily on my mind.
Rolling over, I slapped the clock on the bedside table. The green digits showed the current time: 11:11.
What an unlucky single person’s time.
Sitting on the wheeled computer chair with my right leg raised, I pushed off the carpet with my unfractured left foot, sliding the chair to the desk.
I turned on the lamp, and my eyes, accustomed to darkness, were momentarily blinded.
The notebook lay quietly on the desk, now containing a simple transparent bookmark identical to the one in the dream.
First, complete the quota.
I took the marker pen and wrote “Tán Lǐn Huā” again, but after waiting, it didn’t turn golden.
My heart sank. Could it be that Lǐn Huā isn’t an unfortunate person? Or maybe she hasn’t truly accepted the new identity?
Just as I was about to despair, the three characters finally turned golden. Whether it was due to the notebook showing leniency or teasing me, I didn’t know.
At least the heavy stone in my heart was lifted. Then came the useless treasure bookmark.
I followed the method from the dream, placing the bookmark with my name and using a pencil to trace it.
Still, nothing happened…
Just as I was thinking this, a sudden dizziness overwhelmed me. I couldn’t support myself and collapsed weakly against the back of the chair, unable to move any part of my body.
A white light appeared out of nowhere, similar to the effect when Xiǎo Lěi and others transformed. Stars were also bursting out, and the strong light illuminated the bedroom, making it impossible for me to open my eyes.
Golden stars rained down on me, but I felt my consciousness gradually leaving my body, rising toward that white light…
It was as if I had completely detached from my body. I couldn’t feel or see anything, hear or touch anything, breathe, only my thoughts continued to function.
I didn’t know how long this terrifying state lasted—maybe seconds, maybe minutes—but every second felt like an eternity.
Did Lǐn Huā and the others experience this process when they transformed?
When my body regained sensation and I opened my eyes, there was no longer any white light.
I was lying on the floor, the high ceiling above me, feeling the soft carpet beneath my back, and the cold air from the old air conditioner brushing against my chest…
Gulp.
I swallowed, suddenly flipping over to a prone position, pressing two water balloons beneath me, the pressure causing a sense of chest tightness.
“Why… why did I turn into a girl in reality too?”
