Chapter 1: It’s Not Easy Being an Elven Queen
One day’s plan lies in the morning.
In a lavishly decorated room, a girl lay on a soft, big bed, opening her emerald-green eyes on time as dawn broke.
The girl had a lovely face and an ethereal aura, with her golden, silky hair messily spread across the bed, pointing ears peeking through, revealing her true identity.
She was an elf, an elf who looked about as big as a ten-year-old human girl.
After opening her eyes, the girl sat up and stretched out a big yawn.
Under her white lace-trimmed nightgown, her petite body showed no signs of development.
But she was still young; she had plenty of opportunities to grow.
“Ah—! A new day has begun!”
After a glance at herself, she sighed with a hint of helplessness while looking into the mirror: “Today, I am still the Elven Queen! And today will still be another exhausting day.”
Who could have imagined that just a short while ago, she was just a working-class individual from a blue planet?
In a single night, she had inexplicably arrived in this world and become the so-called Elven Queen.
And she even changed genders, from male to female.
Aileriel Patel, that was her name.
Sounds a bit messed up, doesn’t it?
But to her, this world was already quite abnormal—elves, magic, all that stuff didn’t exist in her previous world.
“Knock knock knock!”
At that moment, someone knocked on the door from outside.
“Come in.”
Hearing the knock, Aileriel jolted slightly.
After responding to the door, she immediately sat up straight on the bed, displaying all the elegance and grace of an Elven Queen.
The person outside heard her reply and opened the door.
In the next moment, a group of elves entered in file, bringing the washing items that Your Majesty would need.
Most of them were elven maids dressed in flowing white robes, but one was an exception.
That was a striking elven woman, wearing a splendid blue-and-white robe with blue hair and blue eyes.
She had an enviable figure and charming looks, along with an aura that radiated nobility.
Every movement she made was filled with grace and elegance.
Aileriel’s gaze flickered towards her.
In Aileriel’s view, the only thing ruining the other’s image was that perpetually stern face, which gave off a vibe of being aloof and unfriendly.
And that distinct elven woman was none other than Aileriel’s etiquette teacher—Hela.
Aileriel felt an innate sense of dread in the presence of a teacher.
Moreover, Hela was known for her strict standards as an etiquette teacher.
It was said throughout the elven society that this elven teacher’s discipline was legendary.
If she caught Aileriel doing something inappropriate, there’d be trouble ahead.
“Your Majesty, it’s time for you to get up,” Hela said softly as she stepped in front of Aileriel.
Although she was extremely demanding of her queen student, her current attitude towards Aileriel was one of great respect.
This was a requirement of etiquette.
As a subject of the Elven Queen, she had to treat her with reverence.
After all, today she was quite satisfied with the Queen’s performance.
Compared to before, the Queen’s progress had been significant.
With that being said, Hela believed it wouldn’t be long before the Queen would be ready to face the world.
Reflecting on the training sessions of the past days, Hela felt a wave of emotions.
When she first started teaching the Queen, the Queen’s behavior was absolutely ludicrous.
Everything now was her achievement.
Hela felt a great sense of pride about it.
“Hmm!”
Aileriel gently nodded and let the elven maids assist her in dressing, leading a life that seemed excessively luxurious and decadent by her previous standards.
She had considered doing things herself, providing for herself.
But when she suggested this initially, Hela had outright refused her.
Aileriel still remembered the reply Hela gave her.
However, gradually, she had grown accustomed to this lifestyle.
You see, descending from simplicity to extravagance is quite easy.
“Your Majesty must always maintain an elegant and noble demeanor; dressing and washing are tasks that must be handled by maids.”
Under these conditions, the attire Aileriel wore was mostly those intricate ceremonial gowns, which in reality, were cumbersome to put on alone—a feat impossible for Aileriel to accomplish by herself.
After getting dressed and ready, the elegantly adorned Aileriel made her way to the similarly splendid dining hall to have her meal.
The elven maids served her the breakfast that had been prepared in advance.
Fortunately, at mealtime, she could indeed eat on her own, without needing the elven maids to feed her.
However, this did not mean Aileriel could now indulge in the delicious breakfast expertly prepared by the elven chefs.
Even while eating, she had to maintain her elegant and noble posture.
Miss Hela would consistently stay by her side, gazing at her without blinking.
Should any indecorous behavior surface, the terrifying lecture from Hela would surely follow.
From the moment she crossed over to this world, every meal Aileriel had was a heart-pounding experience.
After all, after a long day, eating and sleeping are the most relaxing times for a being, and during these moments, slips often get revealed without warning.
To avoid receiving a lecture, she had to be on high alert all the time.
Luckily, Hela did not watch her during sleep, which saved Aileriel from being in a constant state of high tension.
Thus, Aileriel secretly longed for each night to arrive sooner so she could finally relax.
Though the following day awaited her with nearly the same routine ahead.
With all the high-pressure training, Aileriel’s progress had also been remarkably swift.
To her surprise, she had yet to break down under this terrifying instruction, adapting to it instead.
Aileriel’s body was born to be the Elven Queen, elegance and nobility were traits innately possessed; it was simply that her past ungraceful actions had marred that.
Now, as Aileriel moved with poise, combined with the innate momentum of being an elf, and with her clothes and accessories enhancing her appearance, the elegance and nobility of an Elven Queen were already visible within her.
At least, Hela was quite pleased with the way she ate now.
After breakfast was over, Aileriel had a short break.
Then it was time for the lessons with other teachers.
The magic teacher, the history teacher… along with Hela as the etiquette teacher, a whole bunch of instructors and essential subjects left Aileriel spinning in confusion, making it so she had little time to herself throughout the entire day besides eating and sleeping.
Though she was the Elven Queen, enjoying an exalted status among the Elven Race, the responsibilities she had to bear were truly overwhelming.
In her previous life, she had merely been an ordinary worker.
Her past experiences offered little assistance for her current role.
This wasn’t a game world; it was a genuine, living reality.
As a ruler, governing a country wasn’t simply a matter of pressing buttons and clicking a mouse like in strategy games.
Moreover, games often offer tons of hints.
In this real world, while she could seek talented people to help strategize and rule the kingdom, finding advisors wasn’t a simple task.
First, she had to be sure they were trustworthy.
And before that, she needed to learn enough to prove her eligibility to be the Elven Queen.
Otherwise, she would just be a figurehead of a queen.
In other words, merely a mascot.
If it were worse, she could even be used as a special tool by some ambitious individual to “control the ruler to command the lords.”
Her fate wouldn’t likely be any better than those puppet emperors in her previous world’s history.
And being female, given her current conditions, it wasn’t hard to imagine she wouldn’t grow up to be anything lesser.
That being said, perhaps she might even become some kind of special tool.
Thinking about this, Aileriel could only scream in utter agony to the heavens: It’s not easy being an Elven Queen!
But unfortunately, she couldn’t do that.
In every class and during breaks, Hela would accompany her, monitoring her closely to prevent any unsavory behavior.
Hela was indeed the one Aileriel had spent the most time with since arriving in this world—not just someone, but an elf.
However, the first elf Aileriel laid eyes on upon entering this world was not Hela, but the current Grand Priestess of the Elves—Linis.
Her ascent to becoming the Elven Queen was also thanks to Linis.
Her first encounter with Linis happened under a tall, sturdy tree.
At that time, she had only just arrived in this world.
The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was Linis looking at her with great reverence, calling out to her, “Your Majesty!”
And just like that, Aileriel became the Elven Queen in a daze, led by Linis to the Elven Royal Palace, where she began receiving guidance from various teachers.
Every time she remembers this, Aileriel feels like she should have firmly refused or at least taken some time to think it over before making a decision.
What a load of nonsense being the Elven Queen; she thought she could live in luxury.
Sure, the living conditions were nice, free from worries about food and clothing, and it was indeed lavish.
But truly, being an Elven Queen was exhausting!
Fortunately now, she only had to deal with numerous teachers, including Hela, and she had gradually gotten used to it over these days.
But Aileriel could be certain that a pile of troubles awaited her in the future.
However, there’s no cure for regret.
Having come this far, she could no longer turn back, only grit her teeth and continue being this Elven Queen.
If anyone should be blamed, it’s her naïve self for not understanding this world thoroughly back then.
